We walked to the palace on a very pleasant October afternoon. It is a museum of the Lobkowicz family art, gun, and music collections along with a very detailed history of family members. The highlight for me was seeing the actual manuscripts of Beethoven and Mozart along with a collection of musical instruments. It was interesting but I would not recommend it if you have only a short time in Prague.

The palace is in the Castle grounds and, after two visits, decided to give it a try. WOW, who knew. What an incredible family, and incredible power and wealth in their days. The audio tour was very done and kept my attention throughout. You here about many things, the number of palaces they had, etc, but when you see an original manuscript of Beethoven, and learn that he dedicated his most famous work (5th) to the Prince you begin to understand just how rich (in many ways) they were. Fascinating

This is a wonderful family owned stately residence near Prague castle. It houses many works of art including two great paintings of London by Canaletto. The museum staff are especially friendly and speak perfect English. Private guided tours are also available.

Unfortunately the Palace was closed for their national holiday - but we got to see the beautiful Cathedral, nice chapel, and the "Golden Street". The street was the neatest. It was for artisans who worked at the Palace, then became Jewelry shops. A dozen or so have been restored - but be aware that most "artisans" were short - very short. All the doorways are about 5 feet tall - if that. Most visitors got a good thunk in the forehead more than once. There are warning signs, but who pays attention to those.... Last apartment belonged to a photographer, and his movies are playing continuously.
