Reviewed January 10, 2014

I return to this hotel year after year. And again this December didn't let me down.
After cancelation of my flight in London and the nightmare of rebooking 3 days later. Nothing was too much for the reception staff of Majestic Plaza . Car was waiting and with efficiency I was made very welcome.
When I got bad cold, the care I experienced was amassing . Thank you.
I'll be back.

This hotel is very centrally located, close to Wenceslas Square and all amenities. It is a 10 minutes walk to the Powder Gate, where many tours start from. This hotel offers efficient service and friendly staff. The breakfast accommodates all with both continental choices of cold meats, cheese and pastries as well as hot bacon, potatoes and eggs. The quality of the breakfast is good. The rooms are large enough for two people sharing a room and toiletries such as shapoo and shower caps are provided. I found the beds exceptionally comfortable and the rooms well heated for winter temperatures. The hotel is close to a plethora of restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets as well as to the pedpestrian street of souvenir and other shopping. The front desk staff assisted with contacting airlines and making reservations. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a budget-friendly hotel offering high quality service and amenities and an excellent location.

This was a great hotel.

The rooms were big and spacious and the quality of the beds were really good.

The service was great too, they arranged the airport transfer for us too.

The breakfast buffet was good, we got back to the hotel each morning just in time for it to open. Perfect.

The location could not have been better.

Very good hotel, very close to the Old town and all the sights which someone must visit/see during their stay in Prague. Daily cleaning in the rooms, fresh breakfast and plenty of options for those who prefer a healthy breakfast. Wi-fi lacking in the upper floors but in the lobby the signal was perfect.

I’m just not sure what to make of this hotel. I originally booked it because we had stayed at a brilliant Best Western hotel in Budapest and thought we would get the same. We thought these hotels were owned by Best Western. Sadly they are not. This Prague Hotel is owned by an investment company that perhaps explains the problem. Everything is in place and the staff seem very good but it just falls short in a number of key areas. My room was 217. It is at the end of a long dark corridor. On entry into my room there is no light as you need to put your key card into the slot to turn electricity on – this proved quite difficult in such a dark room. WiFi is only free in the public areas – they still charge to use WiFi in your room (quite surprising as this is meant to be a 4* hotel). They do however offer cabled internet access. The cable is in a drawer so not immediately obvious. The internet plug was on the floor under the desk – again very dark. Plugs normally go in straight – this one goes in at an angle so difficult to find in the dark. Similarly the safe is at the bottom of the wardrobe. When you open the wardrobe door you block out the light so again difficult to read the instructions without a torch. The carpet was also quite dirty. Décor was Ok as was the bed and bathroom although water ran away very slowly from the wash basin. As you can see – everything is there but it is not quite right. Tea and coffee facilities are in the room but only fruit teas are offered. No black tea and no milk – most unusual.

At reception I asked for stamps only to be told they did not sell stamps and that I would have to go to the Post Office – 20 minutes away –this is meant to be a 4* hotel.

Breakfast was poor. Poor choice of options from the hot food counter. Poor choice from the cold counter. No croissants. Fruit juice was not proper juice – very weak and made from water.

I can see there are lots of other reviews that are very good. This is not meant to be a negative review and I hope I‘ve described accurately my experiences. The hotel is Ok but it just fails on so many counts. I wouldn’t stay here again and it is rare for me to say this.

Hope this helps

Room Tip: Don't stay in 217

5 mins walk to station but not easy to find. Clean room with bath tub. Breakfast is way too good when comparing with other hotels in europe. Scumble eggs, hams and various types of bread.

Price is really cheap. Avearge 30 pounds per night.

This hotel is independently owned and operated from best western group which is better
