Excellent location and very good hotel, large rooms and as expected with a 4 star. But their main website promised free wifi in all rooms, but when we arrived the reception guy told us we could only get it in the lobby and had to pay if we wanted it in the rooms. I asked him to log onto their own website and he saw that it said free wifi in all rooms.. But he still didn't honour it and just .. 'err, yes.. I don't know...'

Would've got 5 stars otherwise

Four ladies on our first trip to Prague and what a fabulous time !
We had pre booked our transfers with Prague airport transfers and were met promptly by a pleasant suited driver and taken 30 minutes drive to the hotel in a lovely clean sedan car. The cost was just £20 between 4 of us and we were given a voucher for a 4 hour walking tour of Prague the day after.
We arrived at 11 am at the hotel and weren't expecting to check in as it was early but the reception staff were very helpful and let us have rooms that were ready immediately and close together as we requested.
The rooms were on the 5 th floor and art deco style, spotlessly clean, very large and comfortable with every convenience needed.
The bathrooms were pristine, black marble, looking recently refurbished and plenty of hot water at all times, with a plentiful supply of lovely thick white towels.
We were provided with thick white dressing gowns and slippers. The room temperature was easily adjusted and very cosy. Perfect after a day sightseeing just to chill for a few hours before venturing out for the night..
Even though winter I do like fresh air and as the rooms were inward facing it was possible to have the lovely large windows slightly open and there was no noise at all.
Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice especially for a Continental hotel, and fresh eggs were available on request. A very pleasant breakfast room with helpful well mannered and courteous staff. In fact the breakfasts were so filling we only needed coffee and cake at lunchtime.
The hotel is in an excellent position just away from the main square so quiet but easily accessible to all main sights within 15 minute walk.
We found a Marks and spencer round the corner so stocked up with room nibbles and wine/ water for the room while we were getting ready.
There is a lovely local restaurant when you turn right out of the hotel practically next door that had an excellent menu ,the steaks were fantastic. It was perfect for the second night when we were exhausted with all the walking.
Our favourite restaurant was Bily Konicek jazz and blues restaurant. In a cellar on the Old square practically facing the astronomical clock. Decor and atmosphere was excellent and the quality of food superb . Cost about £20 per head including nice wines. The music was perfect a fabulous blues group but not too loud that we couldn't chat. We enjoyed it so much went back on our final night.
The hotel lobby bar was very comfortable and welcoming and the friendly bar man made lovely cocktails that were very reasonably priced , no more expensive than the bars outside which was surprising for a hotel of such high standard. We were always given a little bowl of nibbles and it was lovely to chill there after a long day and before going out.
On leaving the hotel and tuning left on a corner there is a bar down some stairs I think called BLBYM mist . This was a local type bar fantastic music and a very busy atmosphere , we always managed to get a table and it was waiter service, again reasonably priced and very friendly. The waiter told us all about local drinks etc !!!,
Finally I must mention the Havana club in the hotel, as we are all aged 50 plus we thought it would be far too young for us, but it was a great atmosphere, good music and again reasonably priced , good quality drinks. Thank goodness not far to stagger to bed at 3 am after a busy day/ night.

Prague is now one of my favourite cities amazing architecture and very interesting. The hotel was perfect and such good value . Excellent staff and standards . I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone and I shall definitely be returning.

I am now going to peruse Best Western hotels again when booking a trip if they are all up to the same quality and value

Room Tip: Inward facing rooms are very quiet and the higher floors have a good view of the city

We stayed in the Majestic Plaza in January 2013 and from the moment we arrived the service we recieved was excellent. There was a problem with one of the rooms booked when we first arrived that was recified immediately, and the staff apologised for the error made.
The reception staff were extremely helpful providing recomendations for traditional restaurants close to the hotel, giving directions and an expectation of cost.
The rooms were large and spacious and provided a TV, desk and coffee table and chairs.
The hotel is located in a great position within walking distance of all the main attractions of historical Prague and has lots of traditional Czech bars just around the corner.
The hotel bar was resonable and a great place to start our evening and have a nightcap before retiring.
The breakfast was fantastic, a variety of options every day with juices, water, teas and coffee avaiable. There was always fresh bread and rolls, eggs, bacon, sausage, hams, cheeses, cereal along with fruit and sweet pastries to choose from, there was something for everyone. The hotel were able to provide a gluten free alternative for one of our party also, providing bead and pastries every morning.
Fantastic, if visiting Prague in the future I would definately return to this hotel.

Its our third stay here twice in summer 2011, 2012 and a pre 2012 Christmas visit and all we can say is its a great hotel. Excellent location, friendly staff, nice comfortable rooms. The breakfast was good, the lobby bar was a great place for a drink either after a day sightseeing or for a drink before going out for the evening. We also had a pre Christmas visit to Krakow and stayed in a 5 star hotel and allthough we loved our stay this hotel was by far the best. We really wanted to visit next year however, the prices have gone up far far to much. Maybe the excellent reviews have influenced the pricing structure. Perhaps 2014 may provide reasonable prices.
