“Amazing botel, well worth a visit!”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

I recently went here for a weekend with my boyfriend and i would definitely go back. The experience of staying on a boat was good anyway and to top it off this was a beautiful boat, very clean and with wonderful staff. The buffet breakfast we had was lovely and there was plenty of choice all to a good standard.
It was lovely to open the french doors and be on the river with Prague castle in the view, the staff were very helpful and couldn't have helped us more,
The only downfall was that out room was the one closest to reception and we did get disturbed by loud guests returning to the boat at 2 in the morning and we was kept awake for quite a while.
Overall a lovely place to stay and well worth the money (definitely recommend to pay that bit more and stay on the river side) have already recommended this to friends and will hopefully be returning soon!

Room Tip: Recommend paying for the rooms on the river side, but preferably not the room closest to the recepti...

High recommended - an unusual hotel located approx 10/15mins walk from all attractions. We booked a Superior room which was exceptionally clean but overlooked bank not river - suggest asking for River side. The reception staff were excellent advising on sightseeing and provising extra pillows etc. The restaurant provides a romantic setting in the adjoining boat - three couse meal for two approx £50. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet giving lots of choice and once again a lovely setting. Will be booking agin when in Prague !

Room Tip: Ask for River View Not Bank Side!

Your dream vacation starts here. This botel is so classic compared to the others in town. The staterooms are darling withgreat detail. We loved that our windows opened right onto the river and the swans were right there ready to eat! The Italian restaurant is also quite good. The breakfast buffet is first class and the views are spectacular both day and night. Make sure you get a room on the Port side of the 2 vessels.

Room Tip: Port side if you want a view

We stayed at the Botel Matylda mid-December last year.... Can thoroughly recommend. Room very clean and cosy; small bathroom but good shower.

Good breakfast and would recommend the restaurant (especially on jazz evenings). Will stay here again when we revisit Prague.

Room Tip: Good to ask for a room overlooking the river

Lovely 3 night stay at Botel Matylda which was a surprise booked by my husband. We had a lovely room which overlooked the river and even though the bathroom was small the shower was wonderful as well as the room be warm and cosy. Hotel staff very approachable and friendly and nothing too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on the boat next door Flotylda on the first night when there was a jazz evening. The food was excellent, but found the staff a little slow. Breakfast was on the Flotylda other boat nextdoor, help yourself, and good choice when the staff eventually replaced empty bowls and trays of food. Not think it appropriate for the staff to help themselves to the food from the buffet, while guests having breakfast though. All in all, a lovely place to stay with easy access to the centre, either by foot or catching the no 17 tram almost outside the Botel.
Would stay again and recommend f want to stay somewhere different and very peaceful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river, lovely views of castle, ducks and swans on the river.

We stayed there together with my sister and had a nice room with the view to the river. The room wasn't big but the bed was big enough, the shower was tiny but ok.
After I have booked the hotel through the internet I called the hotel and tried to explain we would prefer a room with the view to the river. This took at least 10 minutes, but I don't speak Czech I tried to communicate in English. However, when we arrived we got a room with the view to the embankment... So, the first night was spent in this room but on the next day we got the room with the view to the river!!! It was nice!!!
We enjoyed breakfast and once a dinner up at the Matylda Restaurant. The view to the river in morning is incredible! The food was really good, and we liked the Italian dishes at dinner.
The location of the hotel is not central but we could reach the city center by foot within 10-15 minutes.

We absolutely loved our 3 nights staying at Botel Matylda. I can honestly say that it is one of my favourite places that I have stayed in anywhere on my travels so far.

Initially I was a little concerned that the location would be a bit far from the sites but it turned out to be perfect - very quiet but not too far off the beaten track, close to Karlovo namesti metro stop and about a 15 minute walk to the centre of the old town, which we walked 2 of our 4 days in the city. Travelling from Prague airport, get the number 100 bus to Metro B which takes you directly yo Karlovo namesti.

We requested a river view room upon booking, which I would highly recommend doing as each morning we were greeted with beautiful views of the skyline including a great view of the castle across the river, and we able to watch the ducks and swans swim by. The same can be said for breakfast - sitting watching the swans and looking across the river was so relaxing and a beautiful way to start the day.

I would also recommend eating in the restaurant, we ate their on a Tuesday evening when there was a jazz night on and the atmosphere was brilliant. The service and the food were top quality, and the decor inside the restaurant boat is just as charming as the decor in the rest of the botel.

Overall we had an absolutely fantastic stay at Botel Matylda and plan to return again, I cannot recommend it highly enough. In terms of value for money, location, facilities (free wifi was also great), sleep quality (beds were comfy and we were able to adjust the thermostat to cool the room down to our liking) and character everything is 5* and I honestly can't think of one single thing I would request the management to change or improve upon. Prague is a magical city and, as another reviewer has said, Botel Matylda really does make you feel like you are staying in a fairy tale, if just for a few days!

Room Tip: Request a river view room.
