I stayed in the hotel over the weekend with my wife. It was our first time in Prague and wanted to make sure that we are within a walking distance from all attractions, which the hotel was just perfect for that. It's also in the heart of the old town but not on a okay road so you can sleep at night. The best thing in the hotel in the staff, they are absolutely amazing, they will go out of their way to ensure that you enjoy every minute in the city. They would plan everything for you and recommend locations, times, etc. whilst you are having breakfast or busy out so that you have everything ready for you when you are back in the hotel.

We stayed here as a result of the great Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. My expectations were high, having read all the reviews, which maybe took the shine off what would otherwise have been an amazing surprise.

That said, the hotel was great. We were upgraded to the suite which was 3 rooms, a very large living room, bedroom and bathroom. The living room had 2 very comfortable chairs, each with a large foot stool, to watch telly from. There was also a table and 4 chairs and a separate writing desk with a chair, a lamp, phone and a leather writing pad with hotel stationary, including envelopes.

Also in this room was a large wardrobe and draws, which had more than enough room for all our clothes, it also contained a very useful safe. There was large unit that had the coffee/tea making machine on it and the mini bar and cups and glasses ect in it. Despite all this the room was large enough for us to have danced around in all the space if we had wanted to, despite the room having so much stuff in it.

It also had two large windows which looked out onto the pedestiranised street below which was always busy with a sea of people walking past (see photo). This was not a problem as with the windows shut there was no noise and we slept well on the very comfortable, large bed.

The bedroom was also large and well equipped, with its own TV and bedside tables. The air con for here was separate to the one in the large living room, meaning at night you could shut the doors and just have it on in the bedroom giving you better control.

The bathroom was very luxurious with marble floors and walls, toilet, bidet, shower and a very large bath (big enough for two) which had a flat screen TV built in to the wall at the end. The whole suite was ideal for a weekend, or even a week for that matter, away to pamper yourself.

In places the rooms are starting to show signs of wear and tear but this did not take away from the great feeling of space and luxury of this excellent suite. I would have been happy had I paid the full price for this, but to have been upgraded was an even better treat.

The building is an old monastery and in the living room is an exposed section of wall which shows a bricked up old door way, giving you a sense of the history of this building (see photo). The exposed wooden beamed ceiling and paintings on the wall also give the room great character.

The only very minor issue was with the TV in that the only English language programmes were 24 hr news, everything else was either in Czech or some other language. We didn't go away to watch TV, but in our down time something other than rolling news would have been better.

The breakfast was first class. A buffet where you can choose from a great selection of fresh fruit, all the kinds you could possibly want. There was also cereal, French toast, various kinds of bread/rolls, a 'pop up' toaster if you want toast, a selection of hot food including bacon, continental sausages, baked beans, potato wedges, mushrooms and even some 'veggies' like green beans ect. If you want eggs they will cook omelette, poached or boiled eggs to order. There was 3 kinds of fruit juice and an excellent choice of proper, freshly made coffee or tea. There was also cold meat and cheese and even sliced salmon. The breakfast was 'top notch', I particularly liked the bacon, not like UK bacon but small rashers, very thinly sliced with some kind of cure on the edge that tasted divine!

The hotel was generally very clean and clearly very efficiently and methodically run. The staff were very good, helpful, professional and efficient, though not always warm and personal, some times failing to make a friendly personal connection, more of a business like transaction. Depends on how you prefer hotel staff to be, very friendly or business like. Some of it may have been down to the Czech 'quiet reserve' that I'm told is a national trait. It may have also helped if I had made more of an effort to learn some Czech, though nearly all the staff spoke good English. This business like approach wasn't always the case as Mira, who greeted us on arrival, was very friendly and could not have been more helpful.

We ate in the restaurant one evening and it was nice, good even, though not great. The desert we had was to die for, some kind of sponge cake and pistachio ice cream. We had to wait 20 mins for it, and were told by the waitress of the delay on ordering as it was to be freshly made. Well worth the wait as it was delicious, looked disappointing on arrival as it appeared quite small, but was very rich and just the right portion size, highly recommended.

The hotel is situated just around the corner from the Old Town square and most of the things worth seeing are within easy walking distance or easily reached by the tram. As it is in the centre of it all the bar prices are not cheap, 69 CK (23/08/13, £2.30 ish) for 0.5 ltr of beer. It can be bought as cheaply as 40 CK (just over £1.30 ish) not too far away, just a little further out from the centre. This said, the prices were comparable for the area that the hotel is in.

Over all a great hotel, highly recommended. If you stay here I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: suite highly recommended.

We recently stayed at the Savic Hotel and it was an all-round pleasant experience. We were greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic receptionist. After a long day of travelling, she offered us complimentary drinks on arrival - nice touch! After checking us in, she took the time to show us the local map and some ideas on what to do during our stay. The double room was on the 3rd floor (some stairs involved but nothing that can't be tackled), room was very spacious, clean and windows are doubled to block out any street noise. We ate at the restaurant twice and some of the dishes were lovely, although I am not 100% how authentic they are. Breakfast was good, eggs are cooked on request, as you want - a nice change from the usual buffet. Location is excellent, literally a stones throw from the main square.

The Savic is in a perfect location in Old Town, just a 2 minute walk from the main square and in the middle of many good restaurants and shopping. The rooms are well appointed, well maintained, and have nicely updated baths. We'd stay here again without reservation.

Perfect location for visiting the city. Travelling with a baby is always good to have the possibilty to go back to the hotel for a meal/rest. Great classy rooms. Could hear some noise at night from party goers but nothing that would anoy us. Would repeat anytime.

Best reception welcome we have ever received in an hotel. Large room with extremely comfortable king size bed. Proper coat hangers in the wardrobe. Bedroom furniture perfectly fitted style of hotel building. Fridge plus electric jug and teapot and cups meant we could have tea as needed. There was also a coffee maker. The water is so good there. Walk in shower had both overhead and hand held sprays. Bathroom included a magnifying mirror, hairdryer and full range of excellent bathroom products. Our floor had an area with several luxurious sofas where you could relax. But we were too busy seeing the sights. The places we wanted to see were within walking distance and the reception provided us with an excellent map and directions. Great range of food for breakfast plus option to have further selection of hot food cooked for you on the spot. Because our flight departed late they graciously gave us late check out to 2pm. (Usual check out is 12 noon)
A most pleasant and memorable experience.
