Our first time back in Prague for 3 years, this time as tourists not as residents. We haven't stayed anywhere central before and I thought the top floor suite would give us the space we were used to and be close to everywhere we love in Prague.
The room was huge and well equipped. My only gripe would be the 3 flights of stairs you had to climb to get there. I'm not sure if they mention that on the booking website. Definitely not for the unfit or elderly or infirm. There is no real balcony as such more just a space on the roof to look out from, but WOW what a lovely view across the rooftops of Prague. I would never have imagined being so close to the Charles Bridge would be so quiet. When you see the sheer volume of people traffic using the road outside the Residence you would expect it to be very noisy. That said, unless you're clubbing, Prague doesn't really do late. Most restaurants are closed by 10.30-11 and the streets are much quieter.
There is much hype re the Hastens beds here. They didn't do much for me, far too soft and squidgy. But I'm sure the name will be enough to satisfy some people.
Breakfast, served from 7-11 am, was in a class of its own. I don't think I've ever seen so much food at breakfast time and lots of different options classified under different 'nationalities', French/Japanese/English/Russian, or the option of smaller portions of more traditional breakfast items. However, they were very strict about what you could order, no going 'off piste' and trying to make changes or combine options. Very irritating as the portions were so huge and we were wasting so much food when all we really wanted was eggs and toast!!
We liked this place. Close to the action, the room was more than adequate, the staff very helpful, 2 minutes to the tram stop, Charles Bridge literally on your doorstep..... there's not much else to say. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
