“Gorgeous Hostel!”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

What a beautiful hostel! So clean! Hardwood floors even! How impressive! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The tram stop is super close and it doesn't take you very long to get anywhere. Definitely recommend staying at this hostel... even has laundry which is always a plus! There's an atm right inside the hostel, and they even sell public transportation tickets. Make sure you do the pub crawl too! Its a great time!

The Czech Inn hostel is located approximately 25 minutes from Hlavni Nadrazi (Central Station) by foot. Alternatively, you can take the Metro to Namesti Miru station (one change, less than 5 stops total) and the walk is about 10 minutes. The neighborhood surrounding the hostel seemed relatively safe -- I walked back to the hostel at 2-3AM on several occasions and was never disturbed. Getting to Prague's Old Town district (as others have said, about 45 mins.) is rather a straight shot by foot and you have both Metro and Tram at your immediate disposal should you choose not to walk. Just make sure that you pay for, and validate, your ticket because the authorities do check frequently. There are a few restaurants/cafes nearby, as well as a drug store.

The hostel itself is probably the nicest I've encountered while traveling in Europe. Modern, extremely clean, and well-maintained with plenty of bathrooms and legitimate private shower stalls. I stayed in a six bed male dorm on offer for 7 euro the night of my arrival, ascending to 17 the second … still quite reasonable in my view. There was adequate beneath bed storage space (lock required) and electrical outlets, as well as a sink and mirror in the room.

It seemed to me as though a great deal of thought and planning went into the construction and function of this hostel. There is a nice lobby with several computers available to use, and although I didn't try the WiFi, it was advertised as free and an access code was provided. I also did not try the hostel's bar/restaurant, but a Happy Hour with 25CK beers (6-8PM) was advertised throughout the establishment and there seemed to be a round of trivia or some sort of group game going on (in English) when I arrived for check-in.

Reception was easy-going and multilingual, also equipped with a variety of useful items (such as locks, travel adapters, and umbrellas) for sale at reasonable prices. The lack of price gouging was refreshing. I had misplaced my travel converter before coming to Prague and was able to purchase a replacement for cheaper than I what I paid before leaving home!

I would recommend this hostel to others without hesitation. It's a welcome change from the dirty bathrooms, stained sheets, and general unpleasantness of a majority of youth hostels in Europe -- in fact, the overall aesthetic of this hostel rivals that of many of the hotels I have stayed in! Your crowns are well spent here -- just make sure to save some for a cold Pilsner Urquell!

This was the best hostel we stayed in during our trip around Central Europe. Unlike other hostels, it was obviously built and designed carefully to make it as convenient as possible. The reception staff and bar staff were very friendly and helpful in general. The best thing about the hostel is the bar where you can have breakfast until midday, hang out in the day or evening and is cheap. One thing I think could be improved on is the price of the breakfast - about 4 pounds which is quite expensive considering what you get. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Security is absolutely excellent as you need a key to get into the lift and into the room, plus there are lockers in the rooms. I think the location is excellent - it is a 40 minute walk away from the Old Town (a pleasant walk) which is very touristy. The area has nice bars and restaurants which local people go to and which are cheaper than the ones in the Old Town. There could be more bathrooms considering how many rooms are on each floor, but this was never a problem. A delightful stay.

We stayed in a private room in the Czech Inn, so for us it was just like staying in a hotel - we had our own bathroom complete with toiletries etc. The room was surprisingly nice for a hostel and the bathroom was great. It did get quite hot in the room as we were there in the middle of summer. There was no airconditioning but we were provided with a pedestal fan, which did the trick. The housekeeping seemed a bit hit and miss - sometimes they would come in to replace the towels but not make up the beds, and vice versa. I really liked the location - it is a bit out of the centre of town, but there are a number of restaurants and bars nearby and a tram stop down the hill. We walked into town a couple of times, it took us about 30 minutes. In the middle of summer the Old Town was packed with tourists, so it was nice to be staying away from the crowds. We ate breakfast once at the hostel but didn't bother for the rest of our stay - it was a fairly basic hostel breakfast, nothing fancy in my opinion. The hostel staff were really friendly and we got some great recommendations from them for places to eat and drink. Free wifi was a definite plus. I would stay here again as a basic, budget alternative to a hotel.

We stayed at this hostel 3 nights and we had really great time. The hostel is big, clean, breakfast is absolutely excellent, you can meet lots of people there, they offer free guided tours, staff is very helpful - just ask for advice and they all speak perfect English. The only thing was that it was extremely hot in the rooms and when we opened windows it was a bit noisy (when the cars came collect the rubbish:)) but overall I would definitely recommend this hostel!

Room Tip: Dont choose the room facing the main road:) Or alternatively bring ear plugs:)

I stayed at the Czech Inn recently and I found it a really relaxed and comfortable place to stay. I splashed out a little on a private room, the bed was comfy and it really felt like a hotel. The bathroom was shared though I never had a problem, and it was pretty big. Shower took a while to heat up though. Alot of people weren't happy about the fact that it wasn't in the centre but the tram is so easy and old town is only 10 mins away and it's totally walkable, took me 30 mins. They also sell tram tickets in the hostel too and there's a little shop directly across from it. It's also very close to Zizkov, but unfortunately I didn't go there...next time :). I arrived pretty late so a couple of great Czech beers in the chilled out bar was just what the doctor ordered. It's a good place, strongly recommended.

I stayed here in July and had a very comfortable and fun stay. The way to the hostel is very simple and easy to find. Many people would catch a tram into the city centre but I found it close enough to walk, maybe it took about 15-20minutes but it was an enjoyable stroll!
The hostel was very clean and the bathrooms were great and cleaned regularly. There are drawers under the beds to store your luggage in and you have your own key card to use the lift and access your room so security is great!
The bar was a very social place and a good way to start off your evening. Staff were friendly and answered all questions.
I liked this hostel but it may not be the place you want to stay for a real party atmosphere!
