“Nice place to stay if not a snob”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2010

I read these reviews and was bothered we were going to a bad place but i was very pleased. The rooms were massive we even had an extra bedroom we didnt need. We did have to search for some extra pillows but found some in the bedroom. Yes it was budget but the electric heaters kept it nice and warm even when we got there it was -15 and i had a shocking cold. The hotel reception were very helpful giving us a map and showing us on the map how to get around and were we were. The main Andele train and tram station is only 3-5 minutes walk and if you buy a 24 hour ticket for 100k (£3.70). You can travel all over the city on it. I would say not to use the taxis as they are very expensive and the people in prague are very rude on the whole as if they dont want you to be there. I liked the hotel and prague but the people let it down.

It took us some time to find 'the Bridge' as it was down a 'very quiet' back street, by then it was dusk and a couple of down and out men loitered nearby, so we were pleased to finaly walk up the steps to the front door, we really thought the Hotell was closed, but after repeatedly ringing the bell, a young man finally opened the door and we entered a very poorly lit hallway, (one dim light some way off) he bade us to wait there in the hall and dissapeared leaving us standing for some time in the gloom and silence, when he finally reappeared, he announced "there is troubles with gas upstairs, and we cannot give you a room" he then explaned he had arranged for us to go to another Hotel and he would take us there, he dissapeared again, and after another 20 minuits or so he reapeared to drive us to a much nicer looking place, quite near the centre, in all fairness we cannot rate this hotel but based purely on our impression we could not reccoment it. we did not see a reception area and think this is probably more devoted to rooms than hotellering

Traveled to Prague for a lads weekend and stayed at the Bridge.

11 of us stayed over 4 rooms. First impressions were not so good and if you are looking for good service and excellent accomodation this place is not for you.

Reception : not good - the guy who runs the place is less than helpful and the lobby is very shabby.

Rooms : Very spacious and very clean. The curtains did not fit the window and the cooker in the room was dirty however the room was roomy and the bathroom was nicely decorated and very clean

Breakfast : Do not expect much - Toast / Jam / Boiled eggs / Cooked Meat / Cheese and Cake!!

On the whole for a cheap lads weekend away - somewhere to put your head down on a night time -not too bad but I would have been a bit wary about taking my girlfriend away for a romantic weekend!!

Location : About 25 mins walk from the city centre/ 5 mins in the taxi.

Prices :We payed about £45 per room per night (approx).
Beer out of main tourist area near the hotel - k 27 pilsner urquell
in main tourist area - k 60 pilsner urquell

Taxi from hotel to city centre k 110 (before 6pm)
Taxi from hotel to city centre k 250 (after 6pm)
Taxi from city centre to hotel k 250 (before 6pm)
Taxi from city centre to hotel k 400 (after 6pm)

Be aware of getting ripped off because the locals will take advantage in the city centre however the locals near the hotel on the suburbs were very accomodating and will bend over backwards to help and give a good service.

Received without greetings by a young girl at reception who looked annoyed having to deal with our arrival (at 14:00 hours).
The room was on the ground floor next to the reception and it was dirty, had electric heaters which we had to keep on almost 24hrs a day to have some comfort from the room coldness. The curtains were transparent and not wide enough, as it is shown on the photo. The bar holding them came apart when I tried to open them. The mattress was very soft and the blankets...well did not exist. We were allocated two short and narrow duvets only.
The kitchen had not been cleaned for...some time and there was no light bulb in the bathroom over the mirror. The bidet had a leak and the curtain shower was not long enough to stop the water from going onto the floor. The TV only had czech channels (frankly, who does not have sat tv in our homes these days ?!!!) . The breakfast was satisfactory but the ceiling of the room had a brownish stain, like something dirty had been leaking, which did not inspire.
We were out from morning till night and used the rooms only for sleeping, thank god!
I do not reccommend the Bridge to anyone and wil avoid it like the plague in my future stays in Prague.

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at the Bridge, because I generally find I get what I pay for, and I had not paid very much at all. When I arrived on a cold winter's day, the heating was unfortunately not working. The staff was very apologetic, and had arranged a bed for me at a similar quality hotel a block away. The following night, I came back to the Bridge and the heat was repaired. While the building at first glance appears a little run down, the rooms seem to be recently re-done, and were exceptionally clean. My bathroom had all new fixtures and was absolutely spotless. Breakfast was bread, cheese, meat, cereal, yogurt, juice, tea and coffee. The best part of all was the incredibly reasonable price. I have been staying in similar type accommodation all over Europe in the last year, and while quality and price have ranged, this was excellent value for the price. It is a simple guesthouse, but if you are looking for luxury, presumably you are not looking at places with this kind of cost. I would definitely stay here again. It is located about 15 minutes walking distance from the centre, or is easily accessible by public transit. By the way, the sign is a little small, so if you are having trouble finding the building, it's the big pink one!

Just returned from a week in the Czech Republic. Four of us stayed at "The Bridge." I initially was disappointed only because we had originally booked through Orbitz to stay at the Charles Bridge Bed & Breakfast in the Mala Strana section of Prague; Orbitz changed it last minute to "The Bridge" on Zoborovska 14...so I was disappointed NOT to be in Mala Strana or close to Charles Bridge which is VERY walkable to everywhere. Once, we checked in though...we felt very accomodated. We ended up with an almost apartment like set up...two bedrooms, private hallway and a bath for the four of us. Rooms got a little chilly at night...so, pack warm PJs or nightgown. Very basic rooms...nice bath though. The tub was luxuriously deep...great for a nice warm bath after hours of exploring different places inside and outside the city limits. The rooms were spotlessly clean....the staff is fabulous!!! Very competent, extremely helpful, and just plain kind. They helped us book day trips out of the city, told us about a supermarket about a block away, and the morning we were scheduled to fly out of Prague the manager, had someone "set up" for breakfast a little earlier than usual so we could get a bite to eat before we left [we did not ask for this...they did this when they learned of our airline schedule]. Staff also assisted us in booking a taxicab to the airport at a very good rate. I strongly recommend getting a 3 day or weekly pass as the city has an excellent transportation system that you can hop on and off as frequently as you need in getting to different sites and neighborhoods. There is a tram stop about a block away...easy access to Mala Strana, Wenceslaus Square and all other areas of the city including Zizkov. Pleasant breakfast room...basic breakfast supplied every morning...juice, cereal, toast, wonderful jellies and jams, ham, cheese, yogurt, coffee/tea...and a constant little stash of yummy cookie bars.

A very large bedroom and bathroom for the star rating. Basic Breakfast. Very well done up. Walking distance (good walk) to the bridges and into the city. Helpful staff. Dispite the name it does not look at any bridges as it faces opposite way to the river. We woud go back to this hotel. Just be aware when you are walking doen the stairwell at night and the light goes out you just need to press the light botton twice - if you know where it is!
