“Great place for a low budget”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2009

My friends and I stayed at this hotel in december 2007. We were the first to use the new appartments from the building across the street from the main hotel. For a low budget you couldn't get better quality. The rooms had new furniture (mainly IKEA), were clean and spacious. The owners were always around because they also run the hotel (at the reception, the coffe room etc.) and they were really nice people.

This note is long overdue.

We stayed here (family of five including three teenage children) last January 2008.

Sure it was cold - but what a great city Prague is !

This Hotel is a great place to stay, very clean, great transport to / from Town & great & welcoming hosts Gastone & Kristina.

The airline lost our bag & Gastone really went out of his way to try to track it down.

Kristina was a delight to talk to & we enjoyed her breakfast.

Great & very trustworthy hosts.

Have stayed at many so called posh 5 star places - sure if you want a heated pool etc don't stay here - BUT if you want to be where the real Prague people are & have a great (warming, safe) place to stay - then stay here !

Local pubs (beer) & restaurants were great & the whole family enjoyed them.

No hestitation recommending this place & returning !

Spent a week staying in the Hotel last October and hoping to stay there again this year. Accommodation is very comfortable and recently refurbished, but retaining some old Czech style charm. The atmosphere is exceptionally friendly and staff welcoming and helpful. Due to its position, the hotel is an ideal base for exploring Prague on foot or using the efficient and reliable public transport. A shopping centre offering everything from food to entertainment and designer boutiques is nearby. Also, a cinema complex and a good range of restaurants and pubs can be found within less than 5 min walk. The hotel is very family friendly and includes a children's play area, it also serves an excellent breakfast with great coffee.

We just finished a 9-night stay at Aparthotel City 5 over New Years, and like the vast majority of reviews, it fully surpassed our expectations! Kristina and Gastone run such a wonderful facility, and went well out of their way to make our whole family feel welcome and cared-for. Our room was on the 4th floor, and we didn't notice any street noise (of course it was freezing outside, so the windows were never open), and the room was well updated and very comfortable.

Kristina's breakfast “toasties” were a daily highlight. :-)

As many people have commented, there are Metro and Tram stops just 2 blocks away, and from there you can easily get to any part of central Prague. And the massive Tesco is just 3 blocks away and a great place to fill the apartment's refrigerator. There are also several restaurants close-by, but it's usually worth it to take a tram 5 minutes to hit the Little Quarter or Old Town for the top restaurants.

And if you have a family, I recommend taking the B Metro line to the end of the run in the West, and then visit the big shopping mall with a great kid's play place called Beckiland (http://www.beckiland.cz/eng/index.php?id=10). Our 2-year old and 4-year old both loved it, and we spent a few hours of pure fun there.

My only complaint is that there were smokers on our floor, and while Kristina and Gastone did all they could to make them smoke outside, they broke the rules and smoked in some of the rooms. But this is more a sign of rude guests rather than the hotel. :-)

Again, I cannot say enough about how attentive and kind both Kristina and Gastone are – they especially brought a lot of smiles to our kids’ faces (thanks for the hot chocolate) and really make the hotel a special place…

If we go back to Prague as a family, I can guarantee we will be staying at Aparthotel City 5 again!

Aparthotel city 5 was ideal for spending 6 days in a magic city as Prague. Gastone and Christina were more than helpful even from our first minute there. It was the best choice of price, location and quality of accommodation we could ever had. We wish we could find the same hotel in every city we visit! (Η καλύτερη επιλογή!!!)

Prague
We loved our stay at Apartcity Hotel 5. We stayed at a spacious, comfortable two-room apartment. One was the bedroom and the other was the kitchen/dining/TV room. It was new and clean. There was plenty of space (two wardrobes included).
The kitchen was fully equipped (no stove though). There was a big refrigerator. The bathroom was nice, with a great shower.
Our host, Gastone, looks just like Jermaine from HBO’s Flight of the Conchords. He is extremely nice and helpful. I’ve lost the key to my luggage locker and he solved the problem in no time.
Kristina was in charge of the breakfast. She was also nice and efficient. The breakfast is great value: 4 euros (or 100 czech crowns) for a buffet-style spread: yogurt, 4 types of cereal, little cakes (not home-made, but good nevertheless), bread, jelly, butter, fruit and your choice of delicious hot chocolate, cappuccino or coffee. Also, the famous Kristina toasties.
You can ask Gastone to arrange a cab to get you at the train station (it cost 340 czech crowns, approximately 14 euros) or airport. The driver will be there with a sign with your name. We got a van that held four people and their luggage.
Even though Apartcity Hotel 5 is not at the historical center, its location is very good. It is one block away from a main street where there is a subway station and a shopping center with a supermarket (Tesco). The subway takes you to the places of interest very fast (only three stops till the center of the city).
The price is unbeatable. Half of what we would have paid if we stayed at a more central place.
We would recommend this place to our family and friends.

aparthotel city 5 prague, great location
These self catering studio appartments are very modern clean and comfortable, A double bed, plenty of space and storage and has free internet. a small cooking area although not needed for us as we ate out, a full size fridge/freezer and microwave ,small dining table and 2 chairs.A safe was also in the room. it was important to us also to be able to leave luggage safe on arrival and departure as our flight times were early arriving and late departing. Kristina the owner is a fabulous host and always found the time to chat and help plan our days out and give advise.
You can get a buffet breakfast and snacks, hot and cold drinks and spirits in the lounge /bar area,
the aparthotel is down a side road just off the main high street in old town and just a 2 minute walk from ANDEL metro .There was some traffic noise but great double glazing and road becomes quieter in the evening. getting arround was very easy , we walked everywhere from hotel, it took us about 20 minutes stroll to new town and charles bridge and 15/20 minutes to sights in old town through the high street .You can be sure by walking not to miss a thing, and after a long day sightseeing we did use metro to get back 1 evening and found this very easy. Great apartments, Great host, Great location , Great city.
