“Excellent family hotel in Prague”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

We recently returned from a two night stay at this property and highly recommend it for the value and quality of the service. For a family of four we had two adjoining rooms which gave us plenty of space at a price less than the cost of a hotel in the heart of old town. Getting to Prague Castle and Old Town was easy on the metro, and we join the chorus of people singing praises to Kristina, who is a gracious hostess who goes out of her way to make sure you enjoy your visit to her city. We would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

Room Tip: We had no street noise on the top floor

Kristina made our experience in Prague wonderful. She was so kind and nice. She welcomes you to the hotel with a nice drink (beer, water, coffee, etc) and then she spends probably about half an hour to an hour explaining the different things to see in Prague and showing you where they are on the map. The location of the hotel is not in the center of the old town or new town, but is instead about a 25 minute walk south of Charles Bridge, and a 15 minute walk west of the Vysherad area. However, it is not hard to get via metro. The nearest station is Andel station, which has a nearby mall (which houses a very large Tesco grocery store.)

We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a larger suite and it was nice to have more space to cook breakfast and eat in. Breakfast options are available for 4E, but since we were backpacking, we chose to eat in. The kitchen that we had was quite large and there was a dining area, as well as a couch on the side to relax after a long day of walking. The bed was adequate, but it was squeaky. The washroom is a bit older but was ok. When we stayed there, there was a promotion which included free laundry. This was especially appreciated by us since we were backpacking and were running out of clean clothes!

Compared to other reviews, we did not have any noise issues but our bedroom did not face the road.

Just back from an excellent weekend in Prague. Kristina is by far and away the most friendly hotelier we have ever come across. We were made to feel very welcome and more like friends than guests from our orientation meeting on arrival to departure. We would recommend the breakfast buffet as its excellent value for money. The room was spacious and very clean with a very comfortable bed. The hotel is in a good location with good transport links and also within walking distance of all major attractions.

Any hotel that welcomes you with a cold beer on a hot August day knows how to treat its guests! We stayed at Aparthotel City 5 for 9 days at the end of August and early September. Great location - around corner from bus and metro stations; walking distance to the old parts of Prague; shopping center with grocery 2 blocks away. Give our length of stay, we were upgraded to a single bedroom apartment. It was relatively quiet, very clean, comfortable, with plenty of room. Kristina spent over 30 minutes orienting us to the City (while we had our welcome beverage) - invaluable to our enjoying the city. And at a rate about half of what my colleagues were paying at a typical hotel near the convention center.

Let's face it, Kristina is what makes this experience with her unending desire to please her guests. But here is a bit more if you are not convinced.

Aparthotel City 5 is for real travelers. No, it isn't the Ritz-Carlton but it is an authentic Czech immersion conveniently located at a great price. It let's you access all of the important parts of Prague using the metro below ground or the trolleys above it. The cost of these is minimal and you should conserve your energy for other things.

Kristina can direct you to neighborhood restaurants where a couple can eat for about US$25 including beers. Go to nearby Teaco market and get what you want to eat for breakfast as well as drinks for cocktails, etc.

We did three nights and found we had a nice but cursory tour of Prague. Next visit we will focus on a couple of things now that we know the lay of the land. There is so much to see that it really is difficult to decide how to spend your time best. We do know for sure that we will choose the same hotel!

Kristina, the owner of Aparthotel City 5, is one of the most welcoming and warm people we've ever met. Thanks to her our 4 day stay in Prague was very enjoyable. After we arrived from the airport in a taxi (arranged by Kristina), we were welcomed with snacks and drinks. She gave us a short overview of things to do and to see in Prague, and answered all our questions. The rooms were very clean comfortable and spacious. Hotel is very close to Metro station and Vyšehrad castle is just across the river. On some days there is small farmer's market nearby where one can buy fresh berries. Kristina's breakfasts were delicious.

After 4 weeks travelling around Europe, this hotel really felt like a home away from home. Fully equip kitchen, comfy bed and exceptional service. Kristina really made our stay exceptional - spend 30+ minutes with us explaining all the sites when we arrived, great laundry service, nice breakfast each morning, a smile and greeting everytime and a memorable parting gift. Would be recommending this place to all my friends and family!
