We stayed in here on our first visit to Prague , on arrival the outside wasn't very clear and noticeable , but as soon as you walked through the big double doors , wow !! It was beautiful entrance with a big chandelier in the hall and very posh old fashioned ' boutique type ' furniture , on arrival we Also received a welcome drink which was rather warming :) When we found our room it was overwhelming to see how big it was with all the antique furniture and decor , it was really nice to have a theme with a hotel . The breakfast was standard but we did manage to fill our boots each morning before setting off out exploring ! :) can't complain about this hotel , only thing is it wasn't clearly sign posted it took us a while to find it after a long day exploring prague ! Would reccommend staying here ! :)

Dear Emmalouisebell,

Thank you very much for staying with us and for posting your feedback here on Trip Advisor. We are delighted to hear that you liked our decor and furniture. Please accept our apology regarding lack of signs outside the hotel. As you probably know we are situated just under Vysehrad hill, which is protected historical area. Therefore, it's very difficult to make any changes and unfortunately takes a lot of time. But we are working on it and really look forward to have bigger signs than now.

We thank you for your kind words and hope that you will visit us again on your next trip to Prague.
With warm regards,
Evgenia Sakharova

The first impression of the hotel when arriving outside at night was "what have we booked?" A small brass plaque announcing that it was the King Charles Hotel and a couple of flags were the only things that gave a clue that it was a hotel.

It was a different story on entering. The rooms were excellent, clean and gave an impression of luxury, and the staff were the most friendly and helpful we have ever encountered, nothing was too much trouble.

If you are expecting a full English Breakfast you will be dissapointed, the hotel has tried to cater for all nationalities, which was absolutely no problem for us and what we would expect. The food was filling, hot and plentiful.

The hotel location is out of the main city centre but there is a tram stop approx 100m from the hotel and the trams are frequent, cheap and get you to the city centre quickly.

There are a number of excellent resturants located very close to the hotel and all have good trip advisor ratings, so you do not have to travel into the city centre to eat, if you decide not to travel out on an evening.

We would certainly consider this hotel again if we were to visit Prauge at a future date.

A warm welcome followed by a nicely furnished, very comfortable and spotlessly clean room, and an impressive breakfast spread (and I am particularly demanding in this area). The location at the foot of Vyšehrad castle is an added bonus. :-)

The style of the rooms, while not 100% authentic, was interesting and offered a nice change to the typical drab furnishings found in our price range! We had an attic room which was still nice and spacious. We were overlooking the railway line -- I can understand why lighter sleepers might take issue with the noise, but we didn't find it a problem at all (and we did have the window open quite a bit).

We were very impressed and will return!

Awesome hotel. After having a good price for 2 nights on a French website, I read the reviews on Trip Advisor that sounded good. Indeed, when we arrived, the receptionnist was really nice and offered us to have a special room for 5? more per night. After we were been offered a czech drink specialty, he showed us 2 huge and amazing rooms, and gave us the choice between street side or course side! We had a terrific bathroom of marble with a massage bathtub, and we were impressed by the quality of the furniture and the beauty of the sheets and the curtains. The hotel is very quiet and the free wifi works well. The breakfast is good. TV shows CNN, BBC world, Euronews, France 24, Eurosport and czech channels. The reception sells tram/metro tickets and is very helpful leading you to the points you don't want to miss on a Praha map.
The photos you'll find on Trip Advisor will achieve to convince you to book this hotel, cheap and located 10 min tram from the City center.

We went to Prague for the weekend on December 15th, to try out the LOT's new Dreamliner (we were lucky it wasn't grounded ;-) ) and to see Prague Christmas Market. I booked the hotel some 3 weeks in advance and got a superior room for mere EUR 56, breakfast included. Upon arrival it was even upgraded to honeymoon room and we received a free shot of Becherovka to get the frozen blood running again.
The room was quite spacious and nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable and provided good sleep quality. Bathroom was also nice and spacious but a flaw appeared here when the bubble bath button got stuck and we couldn't switch the thing off, finally deciding on flipping the circuit breaker for the bath which sorted things out for good ;)
Breakfast was also good, while not spectacular and provided a pleasant start of a day.
So, to sum things up, one of the best in its price range (that said, I mean EUR 50-60) and absolutely reccomendable if you're not after luxury but looking for a nice place to stay,

Room Tip: book early to get better price

We visiting The King Charles Boutique hotel in December and were in love with the hotel! We hate visiting travel lodge style everything the same hotel and always try find something a little more quirky!

The hotel was spotless, the bedding luxurious - pillows so soft i wanted to take them home! The room was always heated so we never felt cold especially seems as it was snowing the whole time! Loved the jacuzzi bath, clean heated towels daily. I loved the old furniture (could of probably visiting narnia from the wardrobe!)

At first when we arrived we were a little worried it was out of the way but the tram stop is literally just outside and is a a very short and cheap trip to the king charles bridge stop. ask at reception and they give you tickets!

the staff were lovely - we liked our welcome shots! and lots of advice on where the good restaurants were and places to go!

there is a restaurants thats one of the top ones of trip advisor - http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g274707-d819580-Reviews-U_Kroka-Prague_Bohemia.html

which is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel - well worth a visit!

Only thing that could do with a little bit of improving was the breakfast for the hotel but still there was everything you would need!

would recommend!

The hotel was very accommodating in providing us transportation from the airport and even allowed us to check in early. That being said, the room we were given was still dirty when we arrived. We were able to leave our things in our friend's room in the meantime, but even though the room was cleaned when we returned, many of the items in the minibar were not replenished, so we were concerned about being charged for items we had not consumed. One of the roller blinds did not stay down, so we were woken up bright and early each morning by the sun shining right in our faces. The room was supposed to be 2 single beds, which it was in theory, but it only had one set of sheets, so we had to sleep with the beds pushed together. Fortunately my friend and I did not mind, but this could be seen as an inconvenience by some. Breakfast was a reasonable continental spread, so we were pleased there. The staff was friendly as well. My one big disappointment was the distance from all of the main attractions of Prague. The tram is located nearby, but we often just walked from the hotel, which was approximately 1.5 miles one way. I will say that the walk seemed relatively safe, as we often did it pretty late at night and encountered no problems. Overall it was not a bad stay, I will just choose something closer to the center of town next time.

Dear Guest,

We appreciate your feedback. It is very valuable source of information, regardless of whether it is good or bad, and enables us to continually strive to improve our standards. As you said we are trying to provide our guests with the room as soon as possible (even before check in time which is at 3 p.m.). However, when the hotel is full it is not an easy task.

Regarding beds in your room, we deeply regret, you didn't mention on the reception that you prefer a twin room with separated beds as it could be resolved in few minutes.
We would like to thank you very much for your kind words about our staff and breakfast.

We wish you a Happy New Year and lots of pleasant travelling!

Yours faithfully,
Evgenia Sakharova
