The strong point of this hostel is its position, right behind the Oldtown square in a tiny and quiet street. You are practically in the centre of the city. Otherwise is the place simple but clean with well equipped kitchen and common room with free Wi-Fi. I recommend also to check the Indian restaurant right next door.

Located just behind the Tyn church at the old town square, this is one of the best places to stay near the city centre. And yes totally value for money. The rooms are as basic as a hostel can get, but have decent storage space and are clean. Well equipped kitchen and access to computer terminals with internet are good plus. The place is walking distance from most of the tourist attractions; you surely can save local transport money. On the flip side, the hostel has no elevators and we ended up doing stairs to 3rd floor multiple times. Travellers with heavy bags, you need to hit the gym before your Prague trip! Most of the rooms do not have much of window view and are absolutely minimalistic; not sure if it has been kept like that to add the cold-war era feel. If so, they have been more than successful.

This hostel claims that their advantage is their unbeatable location and they're right, unfortunately thats as good as this place gets. I should start by saying that my girlfriend and I are by no means fussy travellers, we are budget travellers who stay in hostels everywhere we go. All we ever expect is clean facilities and good service which we don't think is too much to ask. Where do I begin? We were greeted by the rudest man we've ever encounted on our travels. If you stay here you'll know what I mean, it's the balding man with glasses. How hard is it it to offer basic friendly service to your guests? Getting any information out of this guy was like pulling teeth. When we check in to a place we expect a brief rundown of facilities etc....absolutely nothing from this bloke. Took our money including a 200kn key deposit, gave us the key and that was it. He then had the hide to huff and puff when we were asking questions. Disgusting service to match the disgusting standard of this hostel. Putrid bathrooms complete with mouldy shower heads and hair tangled in the drains. If we were in Prague for more than one night we would have got the hell out of there but in the end it was just a place to rest our head! There's zero character and atmosphere, pitiful facilities, dirty bathrooms, make no mistake this place is bottom of the barrel, only book if you are absolutely desperate!

Great location, very central, clean, quiet at night (in October), fully equipped kitchen, internet access, and prices are actually cheaper than on their website (for single rooms anyway) so check in advance. Highly recommended.

Stayed in Hostel Tyn for 3 nights whilst visiting Prague and had the use of a 5 bed dorm room. The room was very clean and spacious with large lockers, big enough to fit my big backpack no problem at all so that made the security top notch. The facilities were good, nothing to complain about in terms of toilets and showers, plenty of computers, books and kitchen equipment downstairs. There were no breakfast options available but like I stated, the kitchen is fully equipped so you are easily able to make something if you should choose to. There is a vegetarian restaurant out the front door of the hostel which is great as I am a vegetarian so it couldn't have been easier, I ate there all 3 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they spoke good English and were able to exchange some money for us before we left the Czech Republic. The location of the hostel is great, right in the old town and close to a lot of places to get a bite to eat or something to drink and the train station isn't too far away either.

Would definitely recommend Hostel Tyn and wouldn't hesitate to go there again.

The location for this hostel couldn't get much better because it is near the old town square. It is down a small side street and can be hard to find. My friends and I did get lost for a moment trying to find it but once we stopped for to look at a map we figured it out.

The door is locked and you have to be buzzed in by a person at the front desk. They gave us wrist bands that we had to show to regain access to the building. It was cheap overall for a one night stay. There is no elevator. The room's are small with just enough room for some beds and night stands. There are toilets and separate showers in the hallway on the floor. Overall the place wasn't quite clean or dirty. We didn't have noisy neighbors and the hostel seemed quiet (it was a Sunday night). It was loud in the morning when people were checking out so if you are near someone who is being loud you are going to hear it.

Overall it is a hostel and you get what you pay for. If you want things like A/C, a private bathroom, and assurance you'll get a peaceful nights sleep this place isn't for you. If you need somewhere to rest your weary head on a budget it should do the trick. I was with friends and felt it was fine but I wouldn't stay here with my wife.

The hostel is an awesome location - mere minutes from the Old Square in Prague. I've stayed in several hostels, and this one is pretty typical - thin walls, noisy young people. But the staff was friendly and helpful when we had questions. My husband and I stayed in a private double room, which was large and airy. No air conditioning but large windows. They have a kitchen and free internet access on their computers. We had trouble connecting to the wifi, but that didn't matter since there were computers. If you visit Hostel Tyn understanding you're staying at a hostel and not a hotel, you will enjoy yourself. Around the corner is a great, "North American" restaurant, Bohemia Bagel, which is owned by an American and has lots of American food - pancakes, burgers, big salads, and (gasp!) fountain drinks with free refills! A good place if you're feeling homesick.
