“Amazing experience!”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

We absolutely loved staying at this guest house. We were four weary travelers walking from the train station, luggage in tow. Jan welcomed us with water and coffee cake. We sat in the kitchen while he gave us a wonderful overview of the area, complete with an amazing restaurant recommendation. We stayed there for 3 nights, and enjoyed the best breakfast on our 5 week vacation. We enjoyed Prague, but we loved it much more staying there. It was very convenient and comfortable. They even did our laundry! Would love to visit with them again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lida Guest House. It is less than a 10 minute walk to the underground (subway system) and anywhere you want to go in Prague is easily reached from there.Yuri was incredibly funny, helpful, and fluent in English. We booked two rooms- both were spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was good- typical of what we experienced in Germany and Czech Republic- rolls, meats, cheeses, yoghurt, granola, toast, danishes, fruits and veggies, coffee and tea. Very good and very filling- a great start to a day of walking around Prague. We would very happily stay at Lida again if we are ever fortunate enough to go back to Prague. Note: the guest house does not accept credit cards, so make sure you have CZ crowns or Euros to pay your bill.

We love Prague, and every time we come to there, we stay at Lida guest house. I have reviewed the place in greater detail before (see my earlier reviews), so for now I will just suffice myself by saying that the high standards the Prouza family have set for themselves they keep to their best.
We were this visit in the heat wave, one of those that hit Europe in the summer 2013. We must admit that the only place we didn't suffer from the heat was the hotel room. A simple and quiet fan was enough to keep the pleasant ambiance in the room (and mosquitoes out of the room), and the cold water was always cold, and the hot water always hot, so no problem with showering, as always.
The breakfast was fresh and ample, the beds comfortable and the room spotlessly clean.

Thanks, dear Jiri and Jana, and Jan and Jitka, for keeping a true home place in Prague for your guests!

My friend & I stayed at this quaint little B&B during our stay in Prague! This was my 2nd time visiting Prague. The location was already chosen & booked before I was invited to come along & I have to say, I was very impressed!! Jan & Jitka are such gracious hosts! Words could never describe how much warm hospitality these 2 have towards their guests! They truly love their city & are willing to answer any questions & help in any way! From the moment we were picked up at the airport, I never stopped learning more & more about my already favorite European city! Jan is so full of information & being a history buff, I soaked it all up! He made reservations for us to see plays or go on tours! He was always there to help! He gave us several maps & explained the best ways to get around & see the places we wanted to see! It was like having your own personal tour guide & travel agent! The rooms were nothing fancy, but they were clean, quiet & comfortable! Breakfast every morning was fresh & delicious!!
The ONLY thing negative I can say was that the Wi-FI in our room was very spotty! But out in the hallway it worked fine. I think it's because we were on the very top floor in the very back of the house & the Wi-Fi just couldn't reach! It's also not right in Prague. You have to take the metro (a 5+ minute walk through the neighborhood to get to it) or the tram (another 5+ minute walk in the opposite direction) .Then you might have to change trains once or twice to get where you want to go. And at night when you're tired & just want to get back to your hotel, the last thing you want to do is have to find the nearest metro or tram, change trains & then finally arrive at your stop to walk uphill, around corners & up stairs just to get back to the hotel.
But between the wi-fi (that may have only been our room) & the fact that it's out of the way, I couldn't take off less than 1 star for all that because the personalized care & hospitality are unmatched compared to any hotel I've ever stayed in!! Thank you Jan & Jitka for such a wonderful stay! I would still recommend this place to anyone going to Prague!

Room Tip: Very top, back rooms don't have very good wi-fi signal! You have to sit out in the hall to conne...

We stayed at the Lida in early May 2013. We had booked (nervously) through the internet and quickly developed a warm relationship with our hosts, who answered every question promptly. Jan had spent time in Brisbane Australia in his childhood and his English is perfect.

Jan offered to pick us up from and deliver us to the train station for a very reasonable fee. When we arrived at the guesthouse after lunch, he offered us a beer and tea and something to eat (he refused payment for this when we left) and then sat down for half an hour to discuss our short visit to Prague and help us plan the best way to spend our time. We felt like we were his very first customers. He really has a wonderful gift with people, so enthusiastic and infectious.

The guesthouse is comfortable, clean, warm, welcoming - and QUIET! It is situated above Prague with the metro close by and the tram into the city at the bottom of the hill. Jan advised us on where to eat that night (Restaurant Josephine) and we had a delightful meal which was great value. Breakfast is generous and filling with meats, eggs, fruit and the usual cereals etc. WiFi is free.

Our room was large with a huge bathroom with fittings that would not be out of place in a 4 start hotel.

Jan suggested a concert at the Prague Museum which was the highlight of our stay.

Jan and his wife do a fabulous job and cannot be beaten for value for money and personal attention in our experience. We feel like we have new friends. Thank you Jan and Jana.

Room Tip: Our room had a pleasant garden outlook. Ask for the one with the big bathroom!

We stayed for over a week and must agree with the other reviewers - Jiri is really patient and will give you a comprehensive overview of Prague, the transport system, attractions etc. Location wise, it is not very near the old town though if one is up to it, it is a rather pleasant walk along the river to the main attractions, probably about a 30-40 minute walk. If not, trams are fairly nearby. Breakfast, served in a common room, was good and allowed contact with other guests. We had good wifi in our room too. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

If you are looking for a Bed and Breakfast that comes with its own travel agent, this is the place for you! Ok, not technically, but Jan was fabulous booking concerts, tours, and even giving us directions to get out of the city to the City of Rock. Beautiful natural rock formation for hiking. It was fantastic! Jan's wife Jitka even packed some food for us to take as we had left before breakfast was served. Very nice room and great bathroom. Breakfast couldn't have included anything else. They had it all! Nice location a bit away from the center of Prague, but quiet, and still within walking distance of the tram to everything. Near several good restaurants that were less expensive than the ones in the more "touristy" locations, and the food was great! Jan picked us up from the airport, and gave us a driving tour of the main areas of Prague He got us tickets to a concert of Mozart's Requiem at the Estates Theater, where Mozart debuted Don Giovanni! It was really awesome! I highly recommend Lida Guest House to anyone staying in Prague. We would not have had the same wonderful experience had it not been for Jan and Jitka! I am hoping to go back in a few years, and I will be staying at Lida again!
