“Great Find in Prague”
Reviewed October 15, 2009

We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Hastal and had a great time. This hotel is in a great location in proximity to Old Town.....5 minute walk to the square. The "comfort" room was very large and airy and the beds were so incredibly comfortable. GREAT shower and the breakfast was very European. Staff were very helpful as well. I definitely would return and stay at Hotel Hastal.

The hotel room we had wasn't amazing, but for the price we paid, you certainly can't complain. It was clean, quiet, comfortable and secure - and there were certainly no grounds for complaints! A reasonable European breakfast which sets you up for the day. The staff were helpful and always polite and friendly. Always greeted with a smile.

The main selling point is the location. If you're going to Prague for sight-seeing, definitely avoid the New Town and opt for the Old Town. Hastal Square is a gorgeous tranquil place with easy access for the Old Town Square (a great place to pass some time) and the rest of the city.

Stayed over Christmas holidays and found Hastal to be in a perfect location, close to Old Square, but just far enough away to be quiet at night. The staff was friendly, the breakfast offered lots of choices. The single room was very comfortable and the hotel offered good value during an expensive week. There were lots of terrific restaurants nearby. All in all a great stay!

Hotel Hastall has a perfect location for a great city break in old town Prague. Just a few mins walk from lots of interesting places.

BUT that is it's only plus point.

The Hotel is rather "Worn" and the beds are hard

We stayed 4 nights and there was no hot water to wash. The Shower water was tepid. Towells were grey with age and had seen better days.

Breakfast was disappointing- buffet style. The only hot items available were scrambled eggs and frankfurter type sausages on a first come, first serve basis. If the eggs are all gone then they are not replenished. If you want a breakfast choice then be there for 7.30 am and not 9 am because it is all gone by then ! After all this is a holiday is'nt it !! You must be at breakfast by 7.30am

We ate in the Restuarant on our first night. We were the only Diners in a dark gloomy room. No atmosphere but the food was quite good. Who wants to sit in a dark gloomy room with no atmosphere. Oh yes - only silly people who are on holiday trying to enjoy themselves !!

I find it had to describe this hotel as three star. It's not worthy of a single star.

Avoid the top floor bedrooms because the lift only goes to the floor below and you have to climb your way with suitcases to the top floor.

Good location - pleasant staff but a very mediocre hotel

About 6 minutes walk to old town square out of bustle of night life and best place to stay.Staf spoke English and made us welcome. Had evening meal which was beautifully presented and tasted even better. Best meal in Prague and not expensive. Would stay again. Our room overlooked a little square with church. It was clean but showed signs of water damage on ceiling, but not a problem.Air conditioningbut no control in room had to ask staff to turn on.

This hotel was conveniently located just a few blocks from the main square. The staff was friendly and the rooms were large and nice. The hotel is located near great restaurants and near all the shopping and attractions. The breakfast is also included in the great price. I would love to stay at this hotel the next time I am in Prague.

I chose Hotel Hastal in Prague because of its great location, price and it has A/C in rooms. The location turned out to be just too good. It is within walking distance of Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, Jewish Quarter and Wescheslas square.
The hotel is a bit old but was renovated in early 90s. It is easy to find. The lobby is small but it is manned 24 hrs. The rooms were small (like all other hotels in Europe). I had a single room while my friends had a double. The furniture was basic. The room had a small tv and it has 2 channels in English (BBC and CNN) for company. The bathroom was functional but the towels were very small and rough. They only change towels every 3 days so make sure to hang it for drying for next day use. They don't provide anything except a small bar of soap. The bed was firm but comfortable but the pillow as large and too soft (I had to double it up to make it useful). There was 1 window which overlooked a courtyard (nothing to see there). The room has air-conditioning which comes handy during afternoon rest but don't really need it at night. They have a very strange policy for the A/C. You have to call the front desk and then someone will come with the remote to turn the A/C on. You decide what temp. you want and it will be set. When you want to turn the A/C off (or change setting), call the front desk again. Bizzare!!

The hotel serves good breakfast in the morning. There are 3 different cereals, lots of bread, eggs, sausages, cold meats, fruits, cheese, yogurt, tea and coffee. It was the same each day but the quality of stuff was good. We didn't eat at the hotel's restaurant but it seems popular in the evening. There are any number of places to eat nearby.

Prague is a great city for visiting. It is clean, safe and very easy to get around.
