“Hotel Hastal - A truly enjoyable experience!”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Our room overlooked a beautiful church and the street so it was a bit noisey (our fault - since we opted to leave our windows open, instead of having the air-conditioning on in our room) but it offered us a front row seat to the charming off - main street early morning and night activities in Prague. The "Hostel" around the corner was the main offender for the noise as the late evening activites at times were a bit too loud. Nonetheless, the Hotel Hastal was a charming place with extremely helpful staff. Eva, at the reception desk could not have been anymore helpful! She patiently accomodated us with making dinner reservations at the Bellevue Restaurant, helped acquaint us with bus and tram schedules, arranged a cab to the Opera House, day trips and much much more. Her sincere helpfulness and attention to our needs made our 8 day stay truly enjoyable and we left feeling like family. The breakfasts were typically European (not the heavy breakfasts that Americans are used to) but the young woman in the breakfast area made every effort (she never had a minute to rest) to keep the tables cleared and food restocked for the hours they were open. One day she even served our table a delicious meat and cheese filled pastry. The breakfast eating area was small, but we made acquaintances with several tourists that we ended up going to the Ballet and dinner with. So that was a bonus to our stay! We will certainly stay here again on our next trip to Prague.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the street are a bit noisey if you plan to leave the windows open, but offer a char...

Only good thing about this Hotel is the location and the staff.
The rooms are small and run down in need of update, although the bathroom was ok.
Breakfast was poor in fact on 2 days of our stay the orange juice was really only orange squash. The bread and rolls were stale and dry. There is very little space in the breakfast room and tables usually have to be shared with other residents.
Try having breakfast at the Irish bar on Old Town Square only 2/3 minutes away.
The beds were not very comfortable with hard wood frames and with a very small pillow not comfortable on the head.
The staff were very good and helpful.

The location of this hotel is perfect. It's about 10 minutes walking to one of the main bus station, the main train station, and metro. The other main bus station is just 3-stop away from the metro. It's less than 10-minute walk to the old town center and to the Municipal House where one of the best music halls, the Smetana Hall, locates. Charles bridge is again 10- to 15-minute away.

Breakfast was great. You get pretty much everything you will find in other decent hotels. Room was comfortable although its the shower was small with US standard. The room was very quite (we asked a room not facing the street, but I guess that the front street would not be very noisy as it was not a busy one). We checked-in and -out with Tomas, a very nice young man. Other staffs were also nice if you talk with them.

The only mysterious thing is that my wife lost one of her hats in the room. She was pretty sure that she left the hat in the closet shelf as she only brought two hats with her and prepared to use them alternatively. We checked with Tomas and another front desk staff and they both seem to never have heard any story of missing things in the hotel before. The good thing is that the room has a safe so if you have any concerns, you can always put valuables in the safe.

Room Tip: If you have concern of potential noise, you may contact the hotel before arrival to ask for a room n...

We found the hotel clean with good sized rooms. Great location close to centre and some great restaurants. Breakfasts filling but bland, there are excellent bakeries very close if needed. Staff very helpful, in particular Thomas at reception who was excellent.

Stayed five nights at Hotel Hastal and was very pleased. Since Old Town Prague is quite overrun with tourists, Hotel Hastal's location was perfect: close enough to walk or tram to everything, yet slightly apart from the tourist hordes such that it felt more like real Prague. It's not luxurious, but for the price, an excellent value: comfortable bed, strong shower, very clean,, with very helpful staff. We especially enjoyed the friendly assistance of Eva at the front desk. The breakfast is plentiful, but after a couple of days, does get repetitive. If you need a change, there's a French bakery down the street, and many food options. Overall, it was very quiet (but all travelers should have a pair of earplugs, just in case, no?) My friend and I found this a fine choice for Prague. Glad to have a safe in the room, elevator, and someone at the desk 24 hours/per day. Neighborhood felt very safe. The "Local" restaurant at the corner had some tasty spinach, mashed potatoes , cucumber salad, and lively bar atmosphere.

Room Tip: We had a slightly larger "romantic comfort room."

This hotel is a perfect location for staying in Prague, within walking distance of all attractions.
Its not a luxurious hotel, but clean and staff very friendly. Breakfast is adequate. You wont get the big Irish fry up, expect the typical continental europe breakfast. Having stayed in Paris we were expecting small rooms and were surprised that the rooms at the Hastal were a good size. The bar
and restaurant are one. Only ate in restaurant once. It was ok. Would be nice if bar stocked greater selection of spirits and wine, however we do appreciate that it is a small hotel bar and probably does not make financial sense for owner to have an extensive stock. There was a safe in our room. We were never asked to leave our key at reception tho we did choose to leave it there for safety. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at back of hotel quieter. You can hear street noise at front, mainly on fri and sat night.
