“Awesome hostel in the heart of Prague”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

I stayed here for 3 nights in a 5 bed dorm and it was excellent. The rooms are roomy and the beds clean and very comfortable. The whole place is spotless and the showers are awesome. I also totally recommend breakfast. For the money you pay the value is excellent. My only gripe would be that the signage could be a little more prominent.

Miss Sophie's is located a brisk 15min walk from the old town. It is very clean with very helpful staff. The breakfast is delicious. The only thing I would say is that it most definitely is a hotel and not a hostel even though there are dorm rooms! There is no communal area (except for the kitchens) to hang out and chat and not really any atmosphere! So depending on what you are after in Prague it could be a nice place to stay!

So we arrived at the hotel and were greeted by a lovely guy who showed us to our room and recommended things to see and a place for our dinner close by. The room itself was lovely and spacious and the shower was amazing! We were in a room next to a baby, not ideal but oh well, not the end of the world! However, when it came to checking out they insisted that we hadn't paid for breakfast on the first day, which we definitely had. The breakfast itself was delicious but I did not appreciate having to pay for it twice. We were in a hurry so couldn't argue the point much, so I was forced to pay. When I was 28 CZK short they made me put it on card instead of just kindly accepting the loss. I thought this was very unhelpful and it made me leave Prague annoyed. Not a happy end to an otherwise pleasant trip.

Dear Guest

Extended thank you from our team at Miss Sophie's for choosing to stay at Miss Sophie's during your visit to Prague!

I was sorry to read we had a misunderstanding about payment for breakfast. Being the reception manager, I was working a reception shift when I checked you in and I personally booked your breakfast. After we heard from you that you said to my colleague you had paid for breakfast to me, three of us repeatedly and carefully reviewed the reception camera record and confirmed that you did not pay anything when you were booking your breakfast. We also reviewed our accounts and confirmed that no payment was made. When you were checking out, we communicated to you the fact that we had reviewed our reception camera records in order to respond to your claim, and you raised no further claims at check out.

As the reception manager, I would like to assure you and any other guest, who books with us, that we would never want to overcharge any of our guests as a matter of moral obligation and professional ethics, and that (we take the extra mile to) as a matter of policy we check and double check our guest accounts if there is any claim or discrepancy.

Thanks again for your visit!

So my friend and I were promptly picked up from the airport by the hotel driver. On arrival we were upgraded to an apartment for our comfort since we were booked for 10 nights. Very modern accommodation. 15 minute walking distance from city center. Safe local Prague neighborhood. I recommend walking everywhere and checking out the Prague boutique designers. Don't forget to have the plisner beer- it is now my favorite . You should also take a day trip to cesky krumlov- fantastic. Also the breakfast is fantastic.
This place has a great vibe and helpful staff.

Overall this hostel had the potential to be perfect.

Our hiccups were that we had specifically asked for a quiet room and were told the apartments were quiet so we paid extra and booked one of those (only £56 so still amazing price for the great facilities) however our apartment was over a bar (not belonging to the hostel) and although you couldn't hear anything from the bar the noise from the street with drunk customers leaving the bar was horrendous so we had very little sleep. A bad recommendation from the hostel but then again they cant really be blamed for outside noise in a city on a friday night, so we did not get too upset.

Our second hiccup was that our heating had not been switched on before we arrived so we were checked into a freezing cold room (considering it was minus 12 degrees outside we were not happy) we then thought we would get a hot shower to warm up while the heating from the radiators we switched on ourselves warmed up only to find the hot water was luke warm and ran out after 5 minutes! We reported this to reception and were helped by a very charming gentleman and the problem was fixed although the room did not fully warm up until the next morning (it was a very large room) so it did ruin our only night in this beautiful hostel.

However the breakfast did rather make up for it which was fantastic - the best breakfast we have ever had, better than luxury hotels we have stayed in.
We haven't been put off and would stay again as I'm sure our hiccups would not happen again.

Room Tip: Dont stay in a second floor apartment if you want a quiet night as the bar noise below will wake you...

This hotel is punching above its weight from Vladislav at the front desk who greeted us and took us to our room. Which was an apartment across the road with lots of space, clean and all items working. I thought it was strange that breakfast was limited to 10 people sessions, until we went down and found that there was a good breakfast spread and a cook to make omelets and pancakes for you. Both Ladies were excellent cooks. One small problem with the lift that form part of the apartment and Indenku (apologies on the spelling) at reception quickly got onto the management to have it fixed that day.
We extended our stay for a further two days and found it easy to get to the Castle tram 22 (they sell tickets at reception), walk into the old city and go to the bone church by train.

Room Tip: try and get room 5 d is a double bed apartment on the 5th floor across from the main hotel. Lots of...
