It is a very classic example of Art Nouveau on a large scale: it is nothing spectacular per se, but the size of it makes it interesting. Just walk by quickly and take a couple of pictures.

Our local guide recommended a visit to this building. I really like Art Nouveau, so I went there next morning at 9:45 to queue up to get tickets. They sell a limited number of tickets from 10 am and the tour starts at 11 am. For me it was really worth it, as the guided tour is the only way to see some of the rooms inside. If you are buying tickets for a concert, you can of course see the Smetana Hall during the concert.

The tour last an hour and the guide was very informative, although she was quite abrupt and seemed very stressed. The cost is 280CK per person ( about 10GBP)

This building is the best example of art nouveau I have ever seen. Book the visit that takes you to areas not normally available to the public. There appear to be two a day (35 people per tour) so get there early to buy your ticket.

This hall was the perfect spot to take in a Classical Concert. Gorgeous building, very unique. The sounds from the symphony was amazing. It sounded better than any stereo or headphones money could buy. Well worth a visit, get your tickets early.

Municipal House is a magnificent Art Nouveau building on Náměstí Republiky. The main concert hall of this complex, the Smetana Hall, was the place of the proclamation of the independence of Czechoslovakia. It is a wonderful room, with adorned walls, decorative stained glass ceiling and many golden lamps. There are beautiful classical music concerts almost everyday. The Municipal House Café is also impressive and it is worth a visit before the concert.
