“Great value character hotel”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Lovely Prague apartment block with old tiled floor, high ceilings and plenty of character. Large bedroom plus sofa bed in living area made it great for family. Spotlessly clean, reasonably comfy beds, table and chairs, free wifi, good breakfast and really helpful and friendly staff all made for a great stay. The area looks a bit run down but we never felt unsafe and it's only a very short walk to the tram, not much further to the metro, shops and cafeteria at Andel.

My friend and i just finished up a 7 day stay at hotel Tiepolo and I could'nt be happier! This hotel was a wonderful accompaniment to our wonderful week in Prague. The staff are all beautiful(wow), helpful, friendly, and on top of everything. Any given one of them were always willing and able to help us with whatever we needed. Big shoutout to the cleaning lady!! Everyday we returned to our rooms we were greeted with chocolates and roses! Such a nice treat! The continental breakfast is also really great! I recommend paying the extra amount for it if you stay here. The fresh croissants every meal are worth it alone!
If you book this place online through booking.com be sure to book the private bathroom or you'll end up at the hostel pilgrim next door which is really sketchy looking.

We enjoyed our 5 night stay here for a city break in November. The staff were friendly and remembered you names and room number when at reception, also very helpful when asking about the local area.

The building itself was charming, not too large that you were disturbed by other guests, although we were on the top floor so that may have helped. Maybe not the prettiest area of the city but one tram stop or 10 min walk to the Andel transport hub, the hotel itself being a 30 sec walk from the Bertramka tram stop even with luggage.

The room was large and clean with plenty of storage space, dining table and chairs and a sofa. My main grumble was with the bed which wasnt the comfiest but after a hard days sightseeing/ & sampling the local brew it hardly mattered!

We tried the breakfast twice - the first day i was quite impressed with the selection and the offer of coffee, unfortunately we returned on our second day and most things had gone or were on the turn having been out the day before or possibly longer...no offer of coffee or extras which was disappointing so we sampled elsewhere on our remaining days.

I would certainly consider returning to the Tiepolo on a return trip to Prague, a great option for the bargain price.

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of August, was very pleased with our stay at Tiepolo! 20min walk from centre, some shops and restaurants much closer. Very friendly and clean hotel, great price and would definitely stay again!

We had a great experience here staying for a total of 7 nights. Though it is not in the heart of Prague's main attraction's the Tram is right by the Hotel. My wife and I walked everywhere in Prague from our Hotel, so it is really not too far for those who like to walk. The price and quality of the accommodations were an excellent bargain.

Room Tip: Room 17 has a skylight, 3 separate rooms, with plenty of space for 2 or 3.

Though there are a couple of minor negatives about this hotel, it would be hard to fault it otherwise. It is in rather a rundown area of the city, and the hotel's central stone stairway is a little noisy at times. Other than that we really liked it here.
Service was attentive from all members of staff, who went out of their way to make sure we were happy and could find our way around. They are a great source of information about Prague and its attractions, and we found they spoke good English.
For the price, what you get here is fantastic value. Of course, it is a three star hotel, so you can't expect luxury. Even so, the little touches make all the difference, like fresh flowers and chocolates left on the bed everyday. We loved that!
As for sleep quality, the beds are clean and comfortable, so no problem there. It tends to be a little noisy with footsteps up the stairwell in the evening but this generally dies down at a reasonable time as the type of people who stay here seemed to be sensible couples rather than party animals.
We could not fault the cleanliness anywhere in the hotel. Our room was made up beautifully every day with fresh towels. Just as a heads up- we got by fine, but the bath towels they provide are a little on the small side, so if you have room in your cases you might want to bring your own.
As mentioned the location is not fantastic from the point of view of aesthetics, but it is so easy to get to the Old town and all the major attractions from the hotel. There is a tram stop literally 2 minutes walk from the front door which will take you into town. If you prefer to walk, you can still get to the centre in about 15-20 minutes. Somebody said before about the three day transport pass. This is well worth doing, as it works out around £10 per person and you get unlimited tram, metro, and bus use in Prague which was so much easier than faffing around buying tickets all the time. Prague is quite spread out so I would recommend using the public transport. And don't forget to validate your ticket first time you use it to avoid being fined. A little tip: the people of Prague can find it rude if you are talking loudly on public transport. We got told off vehemently in Czech for laughing loudly on a tram, and it was only when we looked it up later that we found it goes back to the communist problems the country had. It was our fault for not researching the culture but its useful to know! So just tone it down on the public transport so as to avoid offending the native people.
Rooms were very spacious, with a large bathroom (no bath, just shower) living area with sofa and dining table. We didn't use the tv. The wardrobe rail is very very high up, so if you are 5'2 or under you will have serious problems reaching the hangers. There's plenty of storage space in the room so even if you are staying for more than a few days you won't have a problem. You will notice there is a locked door in your room. This is your kitchen, which they will allow you to use for an extra fee. When it comes to rooms, asking for one on the back will be quieter, as the street out front can be a little noisy. The back rooms overlook a couple of disused buildings and the hotel car park. There is no nice view from front or back, unfortunately, but we didn't go to Prague for the view from the hotel.
Breakfast consisted of three kinds of cold meats, laughing cow type cheese, hard boiled eggs and cheddar slices, toast, butter, jam, white/ brown, oatcakes, three types of cakes which looked homemade and varied from day to day (and which were delicious). There were some packaged cakes too that weren't so good. Apples, oranges and bananas, about twelve different flavours of teas, including earl grey, black tea and fruit teas. There was coffee on tap which was better than instant coffee from England. For breakfast cereal there were the Czech equivalents of frosties, cornflakes, and strawberry oat clusters (very nice). Also when you arrive to breakfast they will offer you a cappuccino or espresso, and you get a freshly baked croissant each which is a nice touch. So for breakfast, while you're not necessarily going to get exactly what you wanted, you're unlikely to be at a loss what to eat.
To summarise I would say this small hotel is a comfortable, great value base from which to go exploring. In a lot of ways it was like a bed and breakfast, in the sense that personal attention seemed important to the staff, and they knew your names without having to look up your room number. If I ever return to Prague, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here, and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to spend a fortune on accommodation.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are quieter.

Small hotel only 2 minutes walk from the tram stop. The tram will take you to old town within 10 minutes. Great breakfast, and very helpfull and kind staff. We will stay here again if we come back to Prague
