Loved this hotel. Great location and stunning view of Tyn church. Very close to all major attractions yet quiet at night. Fantastic buffet breakfast with Prosecco if you like it!

Free afternoon tea and wifi for guests are nice touches. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting beautiful Prague.

Room Tip: Room facing Cathedral for a stunning view

The Ventana doesn't really seem like a hotel at all. It's so relatively small-scale, and the staff are so very personable, that it's more like staying in a friend's house (if you happen to have friends with 29 bedrooms). Its location is so ridiculously central it can only have missed being part of the UN's World Heritage Site of the Old Town Square by about fifty feet: most of the rooms overlook the east end of the Tyn Cathedral which fronts on to the square, though there are some in the mansard which overlook the square itself from high windows on the upper level of the two-floor suites, with the bedrooms on a sort of cantilevered mezzanine. The very worst thing I could think to say is that the TVs in the rooms are rather old-tech, CRT jobs, built in to elaborate pieces of cabinetry with doors, rather than the more expected wall-mounted flat-screens. But then I don't go to Prague to watch television. And nor should you.

By the way, no-one in the entire city seems to know how to get to the Sternbersky Palace, home to its major art collection, beyond telling you it's up on the castle heights somewhere. No wonder. It's completely hidden at the sunken bottom of a winding cobble-stoned alley leading off through a small, utterly unsignposted, archway on the extreme left of the Archbishop's Palace. I spent over five hours hours there, just me, the Durer, the Friedrich, the Rembrandt and the Bronzinos and about five other people. Go for the art, go for the atmosphere, don't go for the opera (which, alas, is desperate), and do stay at the Ventana. You'll love it.

I have been to Prague several times, trying several very good hotels. This time we stayed for a weekend at Ventana, which became our hotel of choice for Prague. I can not imagine a better location for us, as we absolutely love the Old Square and the surroundings. Our room faced a quite side street and the Tyn Cathedral. It was hard to imagine that a buzzing square and famous Celetna street were just round a corner. We had a “regular” room on the third floor. The room was very airy due to the high ceiling and two large windows. Nice design touches gave the room its cozy old-fashioned feeling, which we liked a lot. The breakfast was worth special mentioning. First, the dining room is designed as a library. It was never crowded. Second, the selection of food was quite exceptional, including such rare items as gourmand pate and sparkling wine. The staff was very helpful and professional. Highly recommended!

What a lucky find. The location was perfect for our 3-day visit to Prague. Ask for loft room #46. We could entertain all of our party(12) in the lower level without any intrusion into our sleeping loft. The staff was most accommodating. Make sure you ask the desk to call your cab rather than taking your chances with the local capitalists. While laying in bed, I commented to my wife how the canopied bed and beamed ceiling reminded me of the bedroom on our African safari. Except for the outdoor sounds. This was much quieter.

Room Tip: Room #46 was the best.
