Reviewed July 6, 2009

We stayed at the Seven Angels for 3 nights at the beginning of July. The city is great, a living museum of architecture with lots of charm and bars, restaurants, theaters and musical venues and the "hotel" has a great location! Unfortunately the staff at the reseption/restaurant seemed rather indifferent to our presence and our needs (we have travelled quite a lot all over the world and stayed at low cost as well as luxury accomodations, but we have rarely encountered a less service minded attitude than here). Our room was spacious and clean, small bathroom thought. The room was on the roof, like a greenhouse with a glass roof and one glass wall. This was charming, but with only a fan (no proper A/C) we consider ourself lucky as we had grey weather (otherwise we might have been "boiled"). If you consider location more important that friendly and attentive staff, you will probably like it here.

5 of us (myself, my husband, my mother, and our 2 teenage boys) stayed at 7 Angels this past spring. The staff was very nice and was available even though we were arriving late in the evening. We had a first floor suite in the back of the courtyard. This was a very large suite with 3 rooms and 2 full baths. Had plenty of room for all. Room was very quiet at night. Breakfast was wonderful (you get a lot to eat!)--bacon & eggs, cold meat plate, or fruit plate are available (+ cereal). Also had a very nice dinner here one evening. The property is located just a 5 minute walk from Old Town Square. This is a very convenient location and allows you to go back and forth to the room during the day. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Prague.

Hotel 7 Angels is in a great location. It's a two minute walk to the Old Town Square and just a few minutes from the Charles Bridge. The room was okay - nothing special but it had a comfortable bed and a small but functioning bathroom.

Our room faced the inner courtyard. It is not a pretty courtyard and people used it for smoking breaks. Employees would loiter in the courtyard well into the evening and the noise was enough to keep us awake. The room itself was down an inside hall, up a flight of stairs, around the outside balcony that surrounded the courtyard - it was a bit inconvenient and awkward getting to the room.

The restaurant next door is very expensive and very good. We didn't know about the 15% discount for guests - it's irritating to find out about that only after you get home. Breakfasts are full service - made-to-order omelets (which were delicious) and all the trimmings - and it comes free with the room. However, they only serve breakfast from 9:00 am - 10:00 am.

We found the staff to be a bit pretentious. They weren't overly helpful but they weren't surly, either. Overall, we would probably not stay here again but it's not a bad choice if you want a room near the center of the Old City with a huge and tasty breakfast. Just don't expect service with a smile.

Not recommended. Great location, however, the rooms adjoin a restaurant and pub that doesn't allow sleep until 11:00 pm each evening. Courtyard that is a part of the hotel allows guests and staff on break to smoke and have loud conversations well into the night. Baseboard electrical outlets were out for all but the last day of the week we were there. Manager was helpful, but owner was arrogant and insulting to guests (guess he didn't know one of those in the party spoke Czech) about our insistance they compensate in some manner for the inconvenience (fortunately we were in more than one room and could charge cameras, etc. in the second room throughout the week). He finally acquiesced to reduce the overall charge by 5% (the same amount he charged for use of an "accepted" credit card). Breakfast (included in the price) is not available until 9:00 a.m. and was overcooked and better found elsewhere. Management and staff (except for the owner) were helpful. If you can find a different, more accommodating location, I'd suggest you go there.

I think 7 Andelu s is more into making money in the overpriced restaurant (although they did give a 15% discount for people staying in the rooms, but only if you ask), than in the lodgings business. Staff only arrives at 9 AM so there is no one to help you down those very steep stairs with your luggage, and you cannot begin to get breakfast until then. One day staff didn't arrive until 10 AM. And you have to walk out the door of the lodgings couryard section into the street and down a few doors to the breakfast restaurant; difficult in rain. But the breakfast f\room with its frescos was one of the most charming dining rooms ever. There is no wi-fi in the rooms as promised, and only in one tiny corner of the downstairs, which is no use at all because you can't sit in the fancy restaurant with your computer. Another annoyance; the staff always had 1950s American music playing, claiming that is what tourists like. when I asked for Czech music, they played a disc with the same tunes in Czech! (*"unchained melody in Czech!). The nightly "gypsy" band usually played songs from the country of origin of guests, so we were in Prague listening to junk instead of local music; unpleasant yet ironic. Staff was very helpful with making reservations for us for taxi to airport and to a last-night restaurant.
The regular rooms have the disadvantage of having people walk by (and look in?) on the narrow balcony access; also not a place for people with fear of heights. However, the mini-suite was much nicer with two large rooms and two sorts of bathrooms. They gave it to us for the price of the regular rooms when we offered cash (ATM one block away). Remember to walk on the outside of the circular staircase, because you are likely to fall down the stairs if you misstep on the narrow inside wedge steps; this is true everywhere in Europe.
The hotel is wonderfully situated, and it was a pleasant shock to walk from the quiet old-fashioned but charmless courtyard, out the door to the busy touristy cobbled street always full of action. I felt as if I were a resident of Prague coming and going from my apartment. All this being said, I would stay here again. I loved loved Prague, and hated hated Czech food which is heavy and oversalty and comes with a room full of heavy smokers.

If you dont stay here you are missing out! Very olde world pension - check out their website photos. Great location - in a narrow street with lots of life - a few minutes from old town square, Charles Bridge, restaurants. Great breakfast. Couldnt complain about anything. Discount if you pay with cash.

My husband I stayed at the Residence 7 Angels for the second time this past Sept. We booked the Terrazza room which is lovely and extremely spacious with ceiling to floor windows overlooking the inner courtyard, and beautiful frescoes on the walls. We arrived very late due to a delayed flight out of Paris, and the staff stayed past closing to see us to our room. We ate at the restaurant one night, and had one of our best meals in Prague. I fondly remember the tender trout with plum sauce, the great wine and the fun tableside serenade by the local musicians. Breakfast is served in the restaurant as well, and the setting is just beautiful with lots of old world ambience. The 7 Angels is just off the main square and within easy walking distance of the Charles Bridge and all the sites and museums in Prague. We highly recommend the Residence 7 Angels, and will return whenever we are in Prague.
