just back from 4 night stay at the hotel. Great location for walking to main city highlights & areas.
There is a tram stop and a metro station around the corner, however, we chose to walk everywhere (my poor legs are still aching!!!). We found some really nice bars/restaurants/coffee shops in side streets that we would have otherwise missed.
The hotel reception staff were exceptionally helpful, freely giving us information/maps etc. Our flight was severely delayed and we arrived very late, tired & hungry! great recommendation from Josef at reception re local restaurant that was open until 2am.
Room was nice, comfortable and clean. Plenty of space for the 2 of us. We had the room directly above reception on the 1st floor (102), not noisy at all. Cleaned every day and fresh towels supplied when required. Breakfast was plentiful and in true continental style with meat/cheese/breads/brioche/yoghurt/fruit/smoked sausage/scrambled & boiled eggs/selection of teas and as much fresh coffee as you could drink!!
The bed was large and 'very' firm, however, this is a personal viewpoint/opinion and by no means a criticism of the hotel. I would also have preferred to have a bath tub rather than just a shower, as it would have been good to relax in the warm water after many hours walking around the city.
I would have no hesitation in staying here again, if we ever returned to Prague and would definitely recommend to friends for future reference.
The local bars/restaurant in the street behind the hotel were lovely, great local Czech food/good service and excellent prices.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Tyl (August 2012) where the staff were very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. They also spoke excellent English which was certainly better than my Czech ! The rooms were lovely and the breakfasts were very good with an excellent choice on offer. The hotel is well situated in a nice area next to the metro and the number 22 tram stop. It is a comfortable walk to the Old Town via Wencleslas Square. We are a middle aged couple on our firs trip tot Prague and we loved the city and would like to return. We would have no hesitation in hopefully staying again at the Hotel Tyl.

We stayed at the hotel Tyl for a week from late August to early September 2012. Very well situated about 5mins. walk from Wencleslas square. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, a mixture of continental and some cooked food. There is a a metro station around the corner and easy access to trams, which take you all over the city. I am not sure the 4 star rating is accurate, it seemed more like a 3 star plus to me, but the hotel is competitively priced, very clean, comfortable and quiet. We loved our stay in Prague and if we ever return, would certainly consider staying at the Tyl hotel again.

cant fault this hotel, proved to be adequate for our week in the city. staff were friendly and knowledgable. Hotel is 2 minutes walk from Pavlova metro station with links to entire city, trams stop just outside hotel every 3 or 4 minutes which take you to the heart of the city. would use this hotel again but have probably seen enough of prague to return

This hotel is great! Super location. It was a short walk to Wencesles Square and a reasonable walk to the old town. The hotel is situated next to metro and tram stops but we rarely used them as the hotel is in walking distance to all the sights. I stayed here with my parents and wife and both rooms had great character - wonderfully furnished. Bathroom and bedding was clean and clean towels everyday. Reception staff were friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable.

Some people have complained about the breakfast as it wasn't "English enough". Personally, we enjoyed the change and found their was a large variety of contiental options such as cerials, cooked meats, cheese, bacon pieces and lovely fresh bread, etc... I feel you need to accept that the UK style fried breakfast isn't on offer.

Prague is a wonderful city and this bargain of a hotel added to the experience. Fully intend to rebook in the near future.

Room Tip: Both our rooms faced the street and looked out onto the local market across the street - definately...
