Despite the earlier reviews this place is awesome. The place is also huge. Easily able to spend all day here. From the organized gardens, to the forests and lawn, the vineyard and the many places just to set and rest. Take a picnic and you can make the day, or buy something from one of the vendors there.

The gardens are nice but because of the recent flooding the outside area dosent look too good there are a few dead plants. However the greenhouse looks really nice, with loads of great plants but like all things in this country not too big. And like most things in this country it was not clearly labeled, so it took us a while to get to the right place and when we came down we ended up going round the zoo garden (which is near by and very big), we walked for a while (4 bus stops lenght) and found that we can't go any further because there is a river that cuts the zoo in half and we cant go past it so we then turned round. When we go to the right path we saw that there were signs but not in English as well so we could not have known that they meant. Not very tourist friendly but most thing are like that here. Also there is no layou. There is no route no numbers to make sure that you don't miss anything. we saw this with Trojska kart (a ticket that allows you to see the zoo,the botanical garden and the troja house with art work) we found this a good deal.

If you had only one day in Prague, whether you were coming from near or far, the Botanical Gardens may not make it onto your list of things you must see. Still, each year we are surprised by those who visit us here, that the praises for this part of Prague are being sung.

Thus, our advise is to do yourself a favour, and be sure to give yourself more than 1 day. We suggest at least 3 or more. You can then discover, after everything else, what the local Prague inhabitants know. The rich environs of the Troja neighbourhood, with Prague Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Fata Morgana, and Toja Chateau are a rich treasure trove of delight for enthusiasts of the great cultivated outdoors.

We are holding our thumbs that with the completion of the new tram bridge river crossing, this will be more convenient to get to for out of town visitors. We suggest a full day, starting at the Exhibition Grounds (Vystaviste), through the woods of Stromovka Park, and over the river.

By bike, or on foot, this is really a part of Prague that should not be missed, but sadly with so much else to see it is.

Thank pathfindercz

In winter, all the flowers were dead outside. You can only see the plants and flowers inside the greenhouse. I guess the best time to visit this place is in summer.
