“This is a real great value hotel.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2006

We have stayed here 3 times now and can thoroughly recommend it.

It is very cheap and the breakfast is great. Situated only a couple of minutes walk from Andel underground, it is easy to get into the old town (about 5 mins on the underground), you can also get the tram (about 10 minutes) or walk (about 20 minutes). Walking is good as you can see all the buildings.

We always go in December when the Christmas markets are on and this hotel is always warm and plenty of hot water.

The staff are really nice and last time we stayed they very kindly looked after our bags all day after we checked out as we had a late flight.

All in all, a real gem for the money.

Small hotel only about 10 rooms in a old building in the Andel area of prague, although a bit outof town its only a 2mins walk to the metro and trams so within 10 mins your are in the center. The hotel is basic but clean not long been refurbed our room was a decent size with shower and toilet nice and warm to as the weather outside was cold and snowy.a nice buffet breakfast was served each moring. The hotel is in a queit spot and no noisey bar in the hotel ,all the staff wer nice apart from 1 guy on night duty,a charming girl with glasses(didnt see her name) was on duty most days, all in all a good value place to stay and good for the metro and tram cinections. On Prague in general i have noticed on this visit things are be comeing more expensive but search out the bars ect in the back streets and you will still find good value.

we had a very pleasant time in pension bonoparte found it difficult initially to find somewhere to eat in Andel where the menu was in english{we tried to understand Czech but very difficult) the dumplings were an acquired taste! however in the vicinity of the pension, there was a decent italian restuarant , the menu understandable. also upstairs in the newly built mall there were very acceptable food places. the pension was a much nicer place to stay then impersonal large hotels , the people on reception were very very helpful, would stay here again. if you stay here dont forget the tours around the Starprommen brewery english tours at 1pm

We have just returned from a fantastic Easter break. The Pension Bonaparte is ideally situated just minutes from The Metro and Tram in fact with the exception of 1 taxi we travelled everywhere by Metro and Tram for the princely sum of £6.00 each which gave us 7 days unlimited travel (we were there for 5 days so bought a 7 day ticket) as a 3 day ticket was £4.80. The public transport system is simple and very reliable in fact we could learn a lot from it! The staff in the hotel were lovely very helpful and very knowledgeable nothing was too much trouble for them, we forgot to take a contintal adaptor but hey presto they found us one and when we arrived before check-in time we were allowed into our room to unpack before they cleaned it through.Andel itself has plenty of restaurants and some lovely bars so you don't need to venture too far if you don't want to. We will certainly be going back.

We just got back from a romantic Prague break and the Bonaparte was great value for us. We were pleased not to be sharing the hotel with any stag parties (although as we went from Sunday to Wednesday perhaps that wasn't surprising). While the location is a little bit out of the old centre it's nice to be away from the mass tourist areas, and it's an easy 30 mins walk along the river to the castle area. We walked almost everywhere in fact, but metro and tram services are a block away from the hotel.
We had a warm comfortable and clean room, plenty of hot water for baths, no noise from the other rooms but in summer there might be a bit of street noise with the windows open.
Staff friendly and helpful, booked us taxis and advised us on appropriate fares, breakfast was cereal and yoghurt, ham and cheese with bread, sweet pastries and jam, tea/coffee/juice etc.
Overall I'd recommend the Bonaparte to anyone who wants a reasonable place to stay on a budget in Prague.

Spent 3 nights at the Pension Bonaparte 15/08 to 17/08. The room is fairly small but comfortable and clean, we were not expecting a fantastic room due to the price we had paid. There is a TV and well stocked mini bar which is unbelievably cheap. 30 koruna for a large bottle of beer :). Bathroom has a large shower area and powerful shower which is very good. We did not have much interaction with the staff but from what we did they were friendly enough. We did feel quite bad ringing the door bell in the early hours each night to let us in :0) .

Breakfast was continental style and is okay, we were hoping for a cooked breakfast but admittedly we only managed to get up for breakfast once.

We found that the best way to get to the centre was by tube which was a couple of minutes walk away. The tube station is called Andel and you need to make your way to Mustuk station (2 stops 10 mins)which is very close to the main square. The ticket system is primitive and hard to work out initially as nobody appears to buy a ticket but we worked out that the ticket machine offers tickets dependant on time i.e. 90mins was 12k i think. There are no ticket barriers like in London and you basically put your ticket into a machine that date stamps it for you. We did not see anyone who worked at the tube station at any point during our stay.

Be careful if taking a taxi back from the centre as the prices vary alot. Best to get a price before you get in. The tube system works until midnight and then you have the option of trams or taxi's. We rarely left the centre until after 3am so we knew that taxi's were really the only option.

Overall a good hotel.
