“Away from the madding crowds”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013

Super little place in Prague 3, serving inexpensive plates of tasty fare.
Try the Paté, Serrano reserva, Chorizo with apple chutney: just a few of the great little dishes on offer.
Tobelos 2008, Rioja was a delight (on the second attempt) as the first was corked. The gentleman who served the initial bottle spotted it immediately, apologised and returned with a second bottle. Well done sir. This doesn't happen very often in the Czech Republic as a vast amount of employees in the restaurant industry, have very little knowledge about wine. Sad, but true.
The advantage of this place is the location (away from the centre of the city).
Decor is not to everyone's taste, especially the sky blue ceiling, but apart from that, well recommended.
Although open until midnight, hot tapas finish at 11pm. Shame it's not open later at night, but we all deserve a break...

Probably my favourite restaurant in the city. Amazing dishes, great service, cool music and ambience.

“Great place for both lunch and tapas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

Kofein has a weekly lunch menu where you choose a main dish and you also get soup and homemade ice tea for 100 CZK. Great deal! Their tapas is magnificent, so if you are looking for a place to have dinner and are tired of dumplings you should definitely try it out.

“A simple coffee rather Caffeine next time”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

Well.... I didn't really enjoy this place. First of all it was quite noisy and the music was, pardon me for saying so, agressive and displeasing.

We had about six plates of tapas: The Chopped smoked eggplant and pepper was just bad, not much of a taste - or rather a taste that would suit a cheap market store salad better. The potato chips were ok.

Their sliced goat cheese with red cabbage jam, marinated beef tongue and the carpaccio of beef were ok, but I would not describe it as tasty.

The two last tapas were almost great: pan-fried calamari with caramel and orange sauce tasted somewhat interesting and sweet and the Fine homemade paté was, I have to admit, superb.
But one little meal out of six didn't really save the evening.

Anyway, the staff was friendly and professional and ... it was warm inside, so....

“I am coming back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

This was my first experience with Kofein and with tapas in general and I think it couldn't be better! The food is awesome and not expensice, served by nice people who knows what they serve and that's what I appreciate. The restaurant is nice and clean and I heard that their daily menu is great as well. I am definitely coming back!
