The staff were very very unhelpful, seeing we were Chinese, they displayed different attitudes towards the other European guests. Very disappointing as we were given an attic room, so uncomfortable sleeping as i hit my head several times when siiting up, the floor felt dirty and sticky though, WiFi couldn't be utilized in the room although it's FOC. As it was near the train station, we actually do not have much choices. I don't want to ever stay here again no matter how cheap the rates were to be. Doesn't deserve the 4 star ratings given!

We have just returned from a very enjoyable 4 day, 3 night stay at the Falkensteiner Maria Prague hotel.

We selected the hotel after a strong recommendation from a work colleague and then reading the positive reviews on TA. Neither were wrong !

The location is excellent just 190 paces (sadly I counted them) from the main train station Hlavní Nádraží where the airport express bus had dropped us off. This bus runs every 30 minutes for a cost of 60 Crowns (€2.20) each way to Hlavní Nádraží.

Hotel Check in was very smooth and efficient and we got an excellent map in English of Prague. Reception also have tram tickets which they will sell you and staff are always very willing to help and advise on how best to get to the main attractions. Most of them are reachable by foot (old town, Wenceles Square,Powder tower etc) but the Palace, Castle and Petrin Hill are about a 35-45 minute walk away if you dont want to use the very efficient public transport system. The nearest tram stop is 4/5 minute walk away.

The hotel left a bottle of Champagne in our room to celebrate my wife's birthday (nice touch !).

The room (superior - at a small additional charge) was a decent size with a very comfortable bed and had everything we needed. The air conditioning was a must as the temperatures were close to 30 during our stay. It was a little bit noisy but did not bother us as we slept soundly after all the walking during the day.

The hotel had a safe in the room which was a pleasant surprise as I had not seen details of it on their room descriptions. The fridge in the room which stocked the mini bar had room in it to store drinks that we brought in from outside and this was a big advantage in the hot weather. Our room also had a very cool state of the art coffee maker and we also saw coffee available on at least one morning in reception. There is a small bar downstairs with all of the local newspapers and 2 PCs. However we never used them as the excellent free wifi in the room meant we could keep up to date with our favourite ipod apps and news from home.

The breakfast was excellent and they had plenty of fresh breads, hot food, cereals, fresh fruit , juices (Fresh orange as well as concentrated), cold meats, yogurts, salads, cakes, teas, coffees and anything thing else you could take for breakfast. It really set you up well for the day. Its on a buffet style and it gets rather busy but we always found somewhere comfortable to sit and the wide choice was always available up to 10am. Its later on weekends (11am)

The room was cleaned spotlessly each day.

We never got the chance to visit the fitnesss room and sauna in the basement.

We found the area surrounding the hotel safe and we were never concerned for our welfare as we walked back each evening to the hotel.

Finally, we booked and paid for our room on line through the hotel website about 6 months before we travelled and got a superb rate, worth thinking about in terms of what you might save.

Would we recommend this hotel to others, would we go back, were staff friendly and helpful, is the location an advantage ????- Yes to all of these questions, enjoy!

We really wanted to love this place but it was hard for a few reasons.
1. The set-up in the room was really weird. We paid a little extra to get an "08" room which is bigger. The bed was literally in the middle of the room, so even though the room was big, it was hard not to bump into the furniture.
2. The furniture was very uncomfortable. Our room had a small sofa area that was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever sat on. A complete waste of space.
3. Because the bed was smack in the middle of the room and covered with a canopy, the air conditioning couldn't cool the room properly. The cool air would literally come out of the register and then get trapped in the area just under the vent because of the canopy and other curtains that hung down behind the bed, enclosing the dressing area. It was so hot and we couldn't get comfortable so ended up opening the windows, which proved to be disastrous. The room cooled off, but we had a ton of bugs plus the traffic was so loud with the windows open.
For what we paid, it was a bummer to not be able to get a good night's sleep.

Our family stayed here on 7-7-12. Hotel is just opposite to the Central Railway Station, so it is very convenient for us to travel from the Airport and then went to Budapest by train. Few minutes walk to Vaclavske namesti but at least 20 to 30 minutes walk from Old Town and Charles Bridge. I think hotel management is good because when we submitted our request through e-mail for arranging 3 rooms together, they responded quickly and really made such arrangment for us. Rooms are also available for early check-in when we arrived at about 10:00 a.m. Staffs are helpful. Free map was provided. Free wifi is provided in room and throughout the hotel area. Rooms are very nice, clean and has a small sofa there. Our rooms have no view but very quiet. Air-conditioning is cool enough for me but some of my family members feel not. To be fair, I think it is acceptable because when viewing other hotels in Europe, always see comments that many hotel rooms are hot during Summer and without air-conditioning. Breakfast was good with freshly squeezed orange juice. Only downside for me is there is no Kettle in the room for making hot water but instead there is a coffee machine there. Comparatively, the room rate is not a cheaper one but I think it is good for value after getting such a good service. I would recommend this hotel to others.

Rooms here are very nice, has all the mod cons.

Was met by the hotel driver at the airport, punctual, courteous and very professional.

Check in a breeze, rooms very well furnished and in good taste.

Can't comment on the breakfast as I didn't have time to eat at the hotel.

I would recommend this hotel, not expensive and they value their customers business.
