My partner booked this as a special birthday treat for me. We upgraded our tickets to a private box but when we thought we had booked seats 3 and 4 it turned out to be separate boxes so we didn’t get to sit together. If this wasn’t bad enough it was possibly the worst seats I have ever had at an opera. When I say I couldn’t see anything I literally mean nothing whatsoever. Complete waste of
Money. Asked for help but they said as we paid by credit card there was nothing we could do and would have to buy more tickets but again they would be separate.

Where else in the world, west of Prague, can you have a night at the opera for $20+?

We’ve been visiting for the last 5 years and in the last few months alone have seen Tosca, La Traviata, Carmen, & Madame Butterfly. It’s always a good show. Fantastic.

Luckily, the audience are generally pretty respectful too. Most of the locals dress up properly for the evening with expats and tourists ranging from smart & formal to slobby couch-potato - a few of the latter being in need of a reminder that a night at the opera requires a different type of behaviour to an afternoon on the sofa at home.

The theatre is stunning. The Opera and play, stunning. The staff considerate, amazing and if you arrive early to the right side of the theatre they will offer you an amazing balcony experience before the show! If you come to Prague, you MUST a play, an Opera, or a ballet!

The National Theatre is a stunning and massive building along the banks of the Vltava River at the foot of Legion Bridge. It's a beautiful building that opened in 1881. We didn't go inside, but it's definitely worth going to see (or view from the bridge) just for the grandeur of the exterior. Given it's size and shimmering gold roof, you can't miss it from many different vantage points in the city and across the river.

My husband and I decided to dive not just into the food-and-beer part of Prague, but to see its cultural side also :) So we enjoyed one evening here and were absolutely impressed! Not just by the opera but by the building itself. It seemed like the building with these awesome ceiling was a part of a play, so beautiful it is.
