Reviewers are confusing two different places: one is the Powder Gate in the Old Town, just beside the Municipal House, and the other is the Powder Tower, up in the Prague Castle that oversees the city. The Powder Gate is blackened by many years without cleaning, and has little interest. The Powder Tower is circular, has been cleaned, but has no interest either. Inside you can only see three floors of military uniforms. For the Powder Tower you pay a fee, but is not worth.

Never went up but took a picture of the black facade. I suppose it is a regular tower where they kept their guns in the 17th century, whick many cities have. This one is beautiful in gothic style but foremost it was a venue during our stay. Next to Republic square, Municipal House, National Bank, bus tours, Old town and other attractions.

It's on the modern Republiky Namesti (Republican Square) and served as a starting point for the Royal Route to Prague Castle, then as a gunpowder storage & then was restored in 19-th century. The view from the rooftop across Prague is terrific!

The Powder Tower is the last remaining gate of the old fortified walls around Prague. If you are in the neighborhood, it isworth the modest admission fee to climb the tower for good views of the city. The tower also includes a modest display of old armorments such as suits of armor, swords, etc. Since it is the only piece of the city's old fortification from the 1400's still standing, it is worth a visit.

This is Gothic architecturala gemstone. It was used for storing gunpower in 17 century. One of 13 original fortified gates to the Old Town today stand it alone. Together with Old Town Bridge Tower it is one of the few remnant of the forfification that once surrounded the city. The Powder tower is 65 meters high there are 186 stairs in the spiral staircase. People can climb to the top of this tower
