“Must see, do it on your first day in Prague”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

Never been to Prague before, but we decided to visit Petrin hill as a first step.

Just do this. We crawled up the Petrin tower and it offers you a view which will make you fall in love with Prague.

You can take the funicular train up to the tower, but you don;t need to be in great physical shape to get up the hill. So if you don;t drag along too much stuff, climb it by foot. You will enjoy the parks and the nature, you will see along the way and it does not take too long. Might even be faster than queuing for the train.

There is plenty of stuff to see. Must see is the Petrin tower. If you have small kids I guess the mirror maze or the pony ride is nice. However you can also wander of further off in the parks. Bring a pick nick and enjoy the peace and quiet.

“One of the best views of Prague - esp at night!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

The view at the top of Petrin Tower was definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Prague. The tower isn't super tall (it's tall enough to climb! Not like the real Eiffel), but it's on the hill, so it's a very aerial view. There are several places that you can get panoramic views of Prague from above, but this is one of the best. You can see all the bridges, the city, AND the castle (obviously not true if you are at the bridge or at the castle, or in the middle of the city blocked by other buildings). Plus, you can actually get the night view here, since it is open later than some other attractions (until 10 pm in the summer). We went up and waited for sundown; it's a small space at top, but not too crowded when we went. Dusk and dark were very pretty, although they kicked us off before it got fully dark (which was after 10 pm). Good views on the way down, and we even saw fireworks.
Getting there is not at all inconvenient- you can take a tram and transfer to the funicular. Google maps will tell you what to do.

“Petrin Hill: Where you find Petrin Tower (Prague's little Eiffel Tower)”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

Petrin Hill is a green, wooded hill, featuring a decent group of attractions that some will find to make a nice place to visit in Prague.

At the top of Petrin Hill, you can find garden landscapes, the mirror maze and the interesting wooden Church of St. Michael, relocated to this location from the Ukraine back in 1929. However, the feature attraction here is Petrin Tower, constructed in 1891 for the Prague Exposition.

The Petrin Tower includes 299 steps and can be climbed, affording very nice views of Mala Strana "Lesser Quarter", Charles Bridge as well as more distant views toward the Old Town area of Prague, across the Vltava River. You can walk up a path from the "Lesser Quarter" area to the Petrin Tower or travel by funicular railway (32kr).

While not one of our preferred attractions in Prague, Petrin Hill is a nice rural area to escape crowds and the Petrin Tower is a neat attraction that some will definitely find enjoyable.

“Climb the tower for great views!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Although you can take an elevator up the tower, we choose to climb up to get a little exercise....turned out to be a lot! But the views at the top of the tower were awesome. I would definitely skip the Mirror House...it was pretty lame. Take the funnicular up the hill and enjoy the views.

“Use the same tram ticket for the funicular!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

If you don't feel to walk up you can use the same ticket of the tram/bus (I don't get what happens with all these people complaining about validating or not the tickets! It is so easy to just put the tickets inside the thousands of yellow machines they got every where when you start you journey)!
Enjoy the stroll through the numerous gardens and have fun!
