The Petřín hill provides an excellent view point of Prague, at apx. 300 meters.
Alas, other than following the path along the hill for an hour or two, you will find it offers very little else to do.

On our first night in Prague (a mild April night), we decided to take the funicular up to the top of Petrin Hill to get an overview of this wonderful city. What a smart choice.

We bought a bottle of nice Czech wine and some other goodies and made it to the top as the lights of the city were coming on. There are lots of picnic tables at the base of the striking Petrin Tower for your picnic....and the photo opps are many.

Walking around, you can choose to go into a Hall of Mirrors and a labyrinth. We did not. We did opt to walk down from the top on the reasonably-well lit path that led back to the area of our hotel (the Julian....see our very positive review of it).

Other than the cost of the funicular ticket (included in the day passes you can buy for Prague transit) and the food and beverage, this is a "no cost" option for you to consider...and a memorable way to start a visit to Prague.

I would recommend this (perhaps a little earlier in the day) for families with kids. There's lots of space for the kids to run around and those attractions mentioned earlier provide other entertainment options. The walk back will tire them out a bit...but that can be a good thing (spoken as parents of 3!)

If you go up the observation tower, do so when its not hazy. The mornings were typically hazy so views weren't that great. The park itself is very nice. We made it over to the St Micheal's church as well. A nice place to chill with great views.

Very nice Park to relax and drink a beer. The View is very nice and the Atmosphere very calm. Don't do the Mirror Labyrinth - its really not worth the money. I recommend to take the train on the way up and to walk back down. Have fun
