Owner description: One of the symbols of Prague, the Church of the Virgin Mary Before Tyn is the dominant feature in the Old Town. The church was built in the 14th century and used to be a primary place of worship for foreign merchants visiting the city.

Grandiose is the word to say about this church and a the other hitches present in Prague.
You can not take pictures in the inside which was very weird because we took Many pictures in other churches.
When you pass by the square, it will take 10min of your time! Don't miss it!

This church is such a visitor draw from the outside but many have trouble getting in. It's not easy to find the entrance, it's not via the doors that you would expect around the outside ot the building.
The entrance is between two cafe's which face onto Old Town Square. Just be patient & walk slowly along the buildings & you will find it. I think there is also a music book shop hidden in this little alley.
There is no charge to enter but there is a donation box inside. Once inside, you will find it was worth finding the door, it's beautiful.

We went there on a monday and the church was closed...However we managed to sneak a peak and decided that it was a worth a repeat.

The next day we came back and actually managed to get into the church. We were relived that we did not have to pay to enter and visit a church. We had to pay just to visit all the other churches and synagogue and was getting annoyed.

Very well preserved artifacts and serene. Sitting down and just admiring the creating, makes me wonder how they ever build something so beautiful and yet its not gordy....

This church which dominates old town square is striking and illuminated in an understated way after dark, but still impresses, even among the glistening lights in the square.the interior is extremely ornate ,so well worth a visit.

Limited entry times. Do check. One of the more peaceful churches and lovely. We could always see the beautiful outline of this from wherever we were, so it was a brilliant landmark as we were staying very near
