This is a very well run family hotel where you are valued and appreciated. The family are very kind and down to earth, offering any information needed with a smile. Jan and his boys look after you like you are one if the family. The breakfast is delicious, with freshly made eggs and coffee and the rooms are large and well ventilated. It's walking distance to almost everything and in a great location. A perfect place to stay and definitely recommended.

From the moment we were picked up at the airport, we felt like we were being taken care of. Jan gave us a quick mini-tour of the area before taking us to the Big Boot and it helped us get our bearings straight.

We so appreciated how the B&B was centrally located but in a quiet neighborhood. Even though there was a small (tiny) pub under our bedroom window, things quieted down pretty early. I wished I'd explored the neighborhood more closely. There is an opening to the enormous park in Mala Strana which includes Petrin Hill. The rooms were just what we needed at the end of each exhausting touristing day.

When we had questions or needed anything, Jakub and Marquetta (sorry about the spelling) were able to help us and no small task seemed to burden them. (Though I'm sure it DID burden them, they never showed it.) Breakfasts were plentiful and we never left hungry.

We truly appreciated the list of restaurants provided to us by the B&B; however, I don't think we'd return to the Cafe Paris or the Cafe Savoy again. With the closest (and cheapest) Czech food being right in the Little Quarter, the highly-rated Savoy couldn't seem to compare. That said, Lokal ("The Dump") was a delight on our last evening.

On a side note: The B&B was a bit up a hill which for me and my sister was no problem, but for my 80-year old mother, it was a bit of a stretch. Still, she made it back every day and denied our offers of taking a taxi. If we'd known about the mini-bus that goes past the B&B (292), I'm sure my mother would have made use of that for our return trips in the evening.

We were very happy with our choice of this small, family run hotel in the Little Quarter location in Prague. We chose it for the quiet location in the embassy area near the castle, and were hoping for a family suite. Unfortunately, the family suites were booked but they gave us a good deal on adjacent rooms instead, which we really appreciated. The staff is outstanding and always a pleasure to deal with. We were very impressed with the overall level of service, which was much more than we had anticipated. For breakfast each morning we were offered eggs with ham or bacon, which were delicious. The breakfast was always ample and tasty. We got lots of personal service regarding restaurant and entertainment options, and even got help booking a stay at our next destination. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

We are so glad we chose the "House at the Big Boot" for our recent stay in Prague. It is located on the quieter, West side of Prague - on a street where several embassies are located. After long days of sightseeing in the crowds, it was lovely to return to our beautiful inn where our family of 6 enjoyed staying on the 3rd floor in the spacious family suite. From our windows, we could see stunning views of Prague Castle. Breakfast was ample and delicious - eggs cooked to order and delicious coffee were highlights. The family who runs this inn is gracious and hospitable, ready to help with any needs that arise during your stay. This is a wonderful value for the quality. I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: For a family or small group, ask for the 3rd floor family suite. It's spacious and perfect for...

We just returned from a two week vacation in Switzerland, Austria and Prague and stayed in many nice hotels, but without a doubt the "House at the Big Boot" in Prague was the best. We had the family suite on the third floor and loved every aspect of the rooms - beautiful antiques, comfortable beds, great views, etc. As others have said, it is a great location, within close walking distance of all the main tourist sites, but is still enough off the main drag as to be a pleasant alternative to the sometimes overwhelming crowds of the most popular areas. The staff was very friendly and gave us a very useful orientation to Prague when we arrived. The breakfast was tasty and filling.

Highly recommended!

We stayed nearly a week here, and it was about as perfect as a hotel can be. The family who own the house treat you like their own family--offering great guidance, extra care, and just that kind of personal "how are you doing" connection that you just can't get in a big hotel. The house is LOVELY--big, comfortable, quiet rooms. the neighborhood was perfect for us--we wanted quiet (which it really, really is), yet close to things like Old Town and the Castle (which we explored over the course of a few days). Prague has gotten so busy since our last visit (15 yrs ago!) that quiet was really a bit hard to find, but this hotel really has a great location (while still being walkable to just about everything). Breakfast is huge and very good; we almost never ate lunch thanks to the many courses we had for breakfast.

One caveat: there are many good restaurants now in Prague, and so explore a bit more than the few the folks here recommend. And bring cash for your check-out day! (Of course, they graciously take most currencies, so that makes it easier). We would highly recommend this place!

Room Tip: We had 2 rooms over the course of our stay here, and both were great. The cheaper one was as good as...

We just completed an extensive tour of Europe. Dum U Velke Boty was by far, the best place we stayed. Great accommodations. Wonderful breakfast. Terrific location (quiet, yet near the city center). Very gracious and hospitable hosts.

Room Tip: Family suite is fantastic!
