Great views of Prague from this very historic area. The wealth of days gone by is still evident here. Beautiful buildings and scenes.

The castle area is like a town within a town, plenty to see including a few palaces (no longer in use) and of course the castle. There are cafes and monuments and a great trio playing all the time except when the guards changed over.

I loved this district. All the cafes, shops and apartments. I spent many an hour milling about here, sometimes you'll see a wedding or two at the top as people come to take photos. Also, the sentries at the entrance to the castle are great for photos !

On the day we went there were no English tours but we walked up the night before and they would not tell us that, they said we had to come back after 9:15 to see what times the English tours were, and then the next day they tell us there are not any. Whatever! But at least they have an audio guide you can purchase and all the signs are in English and Czech so you can figure out what is what. The Golden Lane is just a crammed street filled mostly with overpriced shops and is along the exit, but they act like it is actually an attraction that you paid for, REALLY, that part was not worth it. The part of the castle that you can go through on the short tour is very short, the best parts are the St Vitus Cathedral and St George Chruch.

We were right down the long hiss from the castle...the walk up is charming, filled with shops and cafes...we sat outside every time we could and enjoyed trying the Czech wines and beers
