“Would stay again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

We had a three night stay between Christmas and New Year 2012 and were very impressed with the location (it really is just a few minutes walk from Old Town Square) and the size and cleanliness of our room. The staff were helpful too, and spoke good English, and the breakfast was much better than some of the usual complementary buffets in hotels like this - lots of choice, hot and cold, and friendly service. The only downsides for us were that although we had a non smoking room (and all the rooms on our floor appeared to have no smoking signs on the door) at times the hotel corridors smelt smoky and it was hard to shake this off. Also our first night was a Thursday and Friday morning appears to be the day the glass gets collected from the streets of Prague! We got woken up early by the noise of the lorries and the emptying of glass as we had a room facing out onto the road above the hotel main entrance. Despite this, we'd stay again.

Just returned from a weekend trip to Prague. This hotel is a five minute walk from the old town square. The hotel is very central and near most amenities. The rooms are somewhat on the small side, but very well maintained and clean. The breakfast was very good and had a collection of both hot and cold food for consumption.

The hotel charges 20 euros for late checkout which was very useful given the jet2 return flights times to Manchester. The hotel was not one of the top hotels I have e er stayed in, but it was clea, ventral and a good breakfast for a city break.

Two (older) teenagers and I decided last-minute on a few pre-Christmas days in Prague. Chose the Astoria as it was close to the old town and shops. Turned out to be a great choice of hotel. Friendly staff at check -in, good English, and helpful. Rooms are smallish, but clean and modern. If you can, get a balcony room on the 7th (top) floor, and on tippy-toe you can see the castle. Old town square, Charles bridge and some good local clubs and cafes within easy walk. Be careful coming from the train station though, some dodgy cabs on the rank upstairs. Should not be more that 350 KC (EUR 15) to the hotel, it's not far.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room on level 7. Don't forget to ask for free wi-fi too.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review. Those comments surely give that extra boost to the team. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay in one of our superior rooms with balcony which are located on the 7th floor. These rooms offer nice rooftopview however the best view is from rooms on the 8th floor - these rooms have amazing view to the Prague Castle.

We hope to welcome you again in our hotel at your next visit in Prague

Yours sincerely

LOCATION; Easy walk to all main sightseeing spots and less than 10 minutes walk from the CADAZ airport shuttle bus ( 130k each way) (stops outside terminal 1).
STAFF: Helpful reception, give away local maps and staff point everything out. Good housekeeping. Everything was effeciently run.
OUTLOOK: Quiet city street.
ROOM; ( Rm406) Large, modern, good hairdryer, immaculate bathroom with piping hot water, large comfy bed, TV with all channels. No tea and coffee facilities.
Breakfast; Very good, fresh buffet style, with everything you could want.
TIPS;Try nearby Kolkovne Resturant for value, modern style local food. On V.Kolkovne Street. George and Dragon will not disappoint for food and beer on Old Town square.

Friendly staff, clean, pillows a little thin, and the heating was only on with a noisy fan so it was either cold and quiet or warm and a noisy blower, rooms are not huge but adequate in size, reasonable breakfast, apart from the fan a quiet hotel and location (at least during the week), but within walking distance of many attractions, all at a good price. Wifi in the lobby is free, but in rooms there is only a wired connection, otherwise you have to pay for the wifi, there was no cable in the room, but I had my own, so have no idea if reception have some cables for use...,

Stayed here in February. Great hotel cheap and cheerful. Excellent location. Room was large and warm which was needed in feb -15 degrees in day :-)

Excellent base to visit all Prague has to offer. Turn right at hotel and end up in the Jewish quarter. Lovely restaurants and shops around here. 5mins to old town square. Lots of great bars nd eateries within a 5min radius. Would definitely recommend to friends. Safe area felt fine walking back in the early hours. Would recommend going in feb as quiet everywhere but take your thermals.

A great base to explore a beautiful city

Room Tip: High floor for a view of old town

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review. You are completely right regarding our unbeattable location. We are very close to all historic attractions that Prague can offer. This year February was really extremely cold and we hope next year winter will be better however as you mentioned we have great rates for winter season.

I hope we will be able to welcome you to Astoria hotel at your next visit to Prague.

Kind regards

If you want a hotel with every possible pampering experience built in and with rooms big enough to hold a golf tournament - then the Astoria is not for you. BUT, if you want a good quality room, a well fitted and functional bathroom and great breakfast to set you up for a day of sightseeing it is perfect.
Located in a quiet side street 2 minutes walk from the old town square and the same for easy access to the tram and metro network the position is excellent. We arrived before lunchtime, and as the room was ready and we were shown up by a cheerful 'bellboy' (old enough to be my dad). On demonstration, the safe didn't work but he returned in a couple of minutes with a new battery and fixed it. This was typical of the good, knowledgeable service and friendliness of all the staff throughout.
Other than for the comprehensive breakfast we didn't try the hotel restaurant, there are loads of good ones around and an excellent bar 'Repeat' 60m down the road from the hotel for a nightcap.
We traveled out with BA and booked the hotel with them as well, cheaper than separate booking.
Would we go back? absolutely YES.
