Reviewed July 9, 2013

When we checked out after only one night, we wished we had more time to stay in this lovely hotel. The location near Prague Castle on a quiet side street was perfect. The room was roomy and beautifully decorated (we had the one with the antique painted panel ceiling). The modern bathroom had a great double shower. We had to catch an early flight so we missed having breakfast in the charming inner courtyard. As other reviewers have said over and over, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The price was very reasonable and the wine list looked enticing but we didn't get to try that either. We are holding onto the extra Czech crowns from this trip so we can visit Prague again. We know where we will be staying.

Dear guests,

thank you very much for sharing your review with us and other travellers!

It was pleasure for us to read that overall you enjoyed your only one-night stay with us.
We are particularly glad that you liked the Dientzenhofer room. Each room of our hotel is in different style with historic feeling. It will be great to host you again and definetely for longer time:). ( with breakfast in the morning and degustation of wine in the evening in our lovely courtyard).

With warm regards from sunny Prague,

I'd put some meticulous planning into my girlfriend's birthday weekend away, but it was the assistance I received from the staff at U Zeleneho hruoznu (especially Michaela) that really made our trip.

I'd been in touch before we left Dublin to (a) ask for the best possible room, (b) switch to a better package that had been communicated on email, and (c) arrange transportation from the airport. Not only was every request met, but honoured in the best way possible - we had the very best room and wonderful welcomes, both by the driver at the airport and at the hotel itself.

Indeed, we were so overwhelmed by our arrival into our room that my plans to propose were moved rapidly forward - the setting seemed so romantic that I didn't want to miss the moment! It has left us with great memories of the hotel, but it is a lovely place in itself.

Its location is fantastic - a quiet street on the edge of everything, from Charles Bridge (10 minutes walk away, max) to the Castle (less than 10 minutes up the hill). The breakfast by British/Irish standards was a little lacking, but it was representative of local cuisine and we ate heartily for the rest of the day. It felt secure, but our movement was never hindered, despite it being small. Ww were always greeted with a smile, even with the rain lashing down and causing its own problems.

There may be fancier and plusher places to stay in Prague, but for my (now!) fiancee and I, we wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Room Tip: Dvorak Room was brilliant, although sleep was impacted a little by echoes around the courtyard outsi...

We so enjoyed our nights here. This hotel is small, convenient, quiet, very pretty and with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Our room had lovely furniture, spacious bed, beautiful wood panelled ceiling (complete with cherubs) and modern bathroom. Breakfast was served outside and was perfect for us with lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt, pancakes with cold meats and cheese and cooked food too. Our only worry about recommending it is that too many people will want to go here and we might not be able to get in next time!

Hotel U Zeleneho hroznu is really quite a simple place. And that is a good thing! They've got the simple things right, and we felt more at home here than we have at any other hotel, ever. Very friendly staff, good size rooms and beds, modern bathrooms, good internet, good minibar and tea facilities, good breakfast. More of a B&B feel than a hotel.

The hotel has only 8 rooms, historically themed, and is a modern but tasteful renovation of an old building in the Lesser city. Our room was named after Johannes Kepler, and we were delighted that it had a big bath tub (I think most rooms are shower only). A really nice touch was a couple of books (one in English, one in Czech) covering modern astronomy and perspective in art. I really learnt quite a lot from the astronomy book.

My wife and I were a little shocked at the boisterous tourist crowds on the east side of the river, so we were really happy that Hotel U Zeleneho was both quiet and very close to the castle and big art museums.

If I really had to pick problems, it was a warm weekend, and I wish there had been air conditioning, but it probably would not be in touch with the historic nature of the building.

In summary, don't go here because it's luxury. Instead go here because it's simple accommodation, in an historic setting, done absolutely right.

Room Tip: Johannes Kepler (Rm 6) has a bathtub. I think most do not.

I can only repeat what other reviews have said. We really enjoyed our stay at the Green Grape. We stayed in the Dvorak suite which is on the ground floor overlooking the inner courtyard, a lovely place to have breakfast or sit with a drink. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and very wide, we both slept well. The breakfast was fine and we really enjoyed the pancakes with maple syrup The staff are very friendly and helpful, booking taxis, recommending good reasonably priced restaurants and places to see. It would be hard to beat the location, quiet, but only a few minutes walk to the castle and Charles bridge and plenty of places to eat, drink and shop nearby, we were able to walk everywhere. Prague is a lovely city but I liked the castle side better, it's less crowded and quieter at night. I would highly recommend this hotel it is a great place to stay.

We stayed at the Green Grape while we visited Prague during New Years. What a wonderful lace to stay. The history of the building and how beautifully they have renovated the building into an Inn is grand. We stayed in the Dietzenhofer Room, which had the most magnificient antique cherub panels on the ceiling and windows we could throw open and watch the revelers down below-perfect for keeping our champaigne chilled while we went to the the fireworks. The room was Huge and the bathroom was even bigger. The staff was wonderfully helpful and friendly-great customer service. The location was perfect, on the Castle side of the river it was very easy to walk all over the town. It was about a 20 minute walk to the old town square but I definitely liked the castle side better as it is quieter at night when you want to sleep. By all means, we would stay there again and recommend it to all who want to travel to Prague and need a nice, homey place to stay. Can't beat the price either.

Room Tip: All rooms are unique and have some special character to offer. We loved the Dientzenhofer room but...

As you wrote, our hotel is situated in quiet and historic part of Prague, Malá Strana. The rare historical building of hotel was built even in 17th century.

Just spent 3 nights at Hotel At The Green Grape and we were very pleased. Our room (Tycho) was large enough to rival some high priced big name hotel suites and decor keeping with the original build made the stay very special. The room was top quality, big spotless bathroom and a very comfortable bed setting, the original log walls made it very cosy and warm. Breakfast was very good. Rooms came with free water and tea. Located in a quiet but very convenient area of Prague (quick walk up the stairs to the Prague castle and a 5min walk down the road to the Charles bridge) made sight seeing very easy without the hassle of noise from late night goers. The staff were very friendly and helped out with a few good local tips where to eat, the nice bottle of red wine on the house as a birthday present was a great gesture. Believe what others are complimenting about this hotel - it is very good quality and great value. Can't wait to go back there. Thank you to all the team that made our stay special
