We stayed here in the heat of the summer and with no air conditioning it was stifling hot and uncomfortable. We were lead to believe there would be parking nearby which is not the case, it is quite far. We were also lead to believe that this was in a good area and it certainly is not the best … just an average stay for us here.

To really enjoy Prague you do a lot of walking and wandering around plus if you want to go somewhere a bit farther from the center you need to take a tram or the metro. So LOCATION is very important. The Old Prague Hotel is in the city center and only five minutes walk from the nearest tram stops and metro station. Perfect! The hotel is clean, the rooms are huge, the breakfast is excellent (and from very early till late morning) and the service is really good. It's superb value-for-money.

Room Tip: Do not book the cheapest basic room in the back. It is small, cramped and if it rains the noise from the roof is awful. The best rooms are lovely - especially on the top floor with a view over the old city.

Hot buffet breakfast was delicious and stays until late in the morning. Rooms are spacious and cosy at the same time with good heating systems. Staff were friendly and location was great although we got lost countless times on your way back to the hotel but that could be down to all that becherovka!

The Old Prague does what it says on the tin. Its old with a bit of character and also in the heart of things. Old Town Square, Wenceslas, Charles Bridge are all within a 10 minute stroll.
It was a good value inclusive trip booked through Jet2 holidays. We did not have the best room (it was at the back) but it was clean, warm, reasonably spacious, with a decent bathroom and efficient shower. Kettle and a fridge, but with limited drinks provided. We took our own coffee and tea bags - typical Brits!
Décor is a little bit oppressive, but is typically Czech and added atmosphere. Mrs traveller suggested that lighter walls and indeed carpets would give the room a lift and she could be right. Bedding was good quality, bed was firmish (it isn't the Shangri-la) and towels were adequate and changed when we required them to be.
Staff were very helpful and most were pleasant although not effusive. We were assisted in our trip to Kutna Hora and this was booked one evening by one the the ladies on reception saving us some money. The hotels airport car service was efficient both ways and meant that we did not have to negotiate public transport nor taxi lines.
Breakfast was surprisingly very good considering that this is not the Four Seasons! Scrambled or boiled eggs; that super Czech ham; all the other continental stuff and a choice of breads which was plentiful and replenished even as late as 10.15. Toaster worked well! (they don't always) with hot water for tea, coffee was only average.
Location is superb with some decent bars, restaurants and wine bars in the same street or just round the corner.
One benefit, being there first week January was that all the Christmas decorations and markets were set up in Old Town Square.
