Having checked out a few hotels in Prague I decided on the Art Deco Imperial. The location of the hotel is great and it is on the door step of all the local attractions. The room was big enough for two people and the bath was wonderfully deep and long which is very unusual. The service on the front desk was exceptional, the staff were professional but very friendly.

The downside was that in our room we only had a view from one window as the other faced the window of another room. The lounge area at the front of reception is very small,as is the library area, there is no bar area of sorts therefore there is no where to sit, relax and have a coffee or a cocktail in the evenings. The adjoining restaurant where breakfast and dinner was served had a great choice of breakfast. However, for a five star restaurant i would have thought that breakfast would be served at your table by the staff and not help yourself as there were too many guests. When it came to variety on the menu there was not much therefore we ate out as the street food is relatively cheap and we found two excellent restaurants for our evening meals near by the ''Hanabi'', Japenese and the ''Zinc Lounge Bar;; excellent menus at both and reasonably priced.
Great hotel but for the star rating expected more

We were being extra picky when we chose this as we had wanted to make up an independent trip to the Christmas markets. When our accommodation of choice was unavailable we selected this hotel as part of a ba.com flight and B&B hotel package for 3 nights. It was half the price of our original choice so we expected adequate but nothing special. We were led by Trip Advisor and the hotel's own website. We love spectacular buildings - and Prague is full of them. The Art Deco Imperial is no exception (although you wouldn't know this from the outside!) We've been 'stung' elsewhere in the past for airport transfers (to the tune of £25-£45) so we had already planned the Airport Express bus which drops off near the hotel. Unfortunately we missed our stop, but it was still only a simple 10-15 minute walk back to the hotel from the terminus at the central railway station. And all for less than £5 for the two of us. On arrival at the hotel we were shown to our deluxe double room but immediately informed that we could return to reception and upgrade to an executive double (a supposed special offer - but I suspect there was nothing special about it as the Czechs seem to grab every opportunity they can to extract money from their visitors - and they're not shy about doing so!) We did decide to upgrade though as the colour scheme of brown and gold, with brown net curtains (!), did make the original, smaller room appear drab and dark. The upgraded room was well worth the extra - a higher, quieter floor due to less traffic noise, significantly larger and exceptionally clean, with not only bath and separate shower, but a separate toilet too! Little 'extras' such as toothbrush; razor, larger TV and chocolates on the bed at turn down time made the whole experience welcoming and comfortable. I wouldn't bother upgrading on the strength of the advertised coffee maker though. I don't see what's wrong with a kettle personally! Breakfast was ok: good choice but I wouldn't say quality was anything exceptional - although I think that may be a Czech thing. Nothing was particularly flavoursome even though it looked nice but it was a treat to be eating in the Art Deco coffee shop. The exception is the hot chocolate. I still can't work out how they manage to make it so mouthwateringly smooth. Location was fine: an easy walk to main centre and castle on the opposite side of the river (which is where we would choose to stay if we ever go back as it's quieter and a bit less touristy). Plus points: great Art Deco style furnishing, clean and well located. Generally good value. Recommended.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a larger room higher up if you can for less traffic noise and less claustrophobic.

Wad room 415 with streetview. Wunderful art deco interior, a lot of gold colored, white and cream. Good bed, cosy but with space inough. The street does'nt disturb cause of good windows. Bathroom in red and white marble, very elegant. TV, minimar, iron, ironboard, safe... All a 5* can do for u. The BREAKFAST in the Imperial Café is breathtaking. Such a choice! Had fresh fruitsalad, eggs, ham, and i can't tell how many diffrent breads, marmalade, cheeses, meat... Even pancakes - they have it all. Located near Námêstí Republiky Metro Station. We love this hotel.

I pride myself on spotting a bargain when it is thrust under my nose. I had heard about the iniquities of the Prague taxi drivers so asked the hotel for their advice as to how to get from the airport to the hotel. The concierge suggested the hotel limousine or the bus/metro link which ended about 200 metres from the hotel. Bus? Metro? On holiday? But the cost was just under £1 each. We had taken an early flight so we arrived at the hotel just before midday. No problem. We were given immediately a very nice room on the first floor: all the facilities mentioned by other travellers and a huge, comfortable bed. The staff were very good value and helpful. Breakfast was in the Imperial Cafe. There was a fine choice: hot porridge, the usual bacon and eggs or try the made-to-order omlette 'bar'. An excellent cold buffet included hams and smoked salmon with capers, chopped egg, chopped onion and fresh lemon slices, pastries and fresh fruit. There was a delicious wild cherry juice. The tea was good also although the pot was never re-filled up with hot water. Of course, the tea bag was not inside the pot on arrival! The poor souls do not understand! It is a great hotel, good value, amazing decor and within easy walking distance of all the sights. Recommended.

I booked this hotel as a birthday present for my boyfriend after spending lots of time debating which hotel to stay in. I went for this because it wasn't too expensive and the reviews for breakfast were amazing on trip advisor. The location was perfect, 2 streets away from the night time bus stop for the Airport Express bus ( from the airport to Masarykovo) just don't make the same mistake we did, which was to assume the Airport express will collect you from the same stop to take you back to the Airport because you have to go to the train station ( through the park on foot, follow the people walking fast with luggage) the bus stop is up some stairs and then under the underpass. Bus fee is 60Kc per person ( cheap as chips).

Anyway the hotel is great, very clean and the decor is breath taking especially at Christmas time. On arrival I accepted help with our bags from the porter ( big mistake, but hey I was travel weary) he helped with our bags and showed us to our room making nice chit chat- once in our room he showed us how the most obvious things work, and was clearly just hanging around for a tip, to the point where I was thinking " Just go now, go away" we only had 3 coins on us so gave him 2, this still didn't make him go, ( maybe we gave him too much) he would walk to the door and i'd be thinking "yes he's going" but then he came back in and it was awkward and cringeworthy. Apart from that it was fab and I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th floor can offer views of Prague Castle
