Stayed for a few days at the Aria just before Xmas, having reviewed hotels on this site we chose the Aria and have to say that we were delighted with it. the room was great and had a pc in the room which was really handy and a great touch.

thought it had a great atmosphere and the staff were very helpful. Food was very good and the bar area is a great place to relax after a hard days sightseeing. Loved the location - few minutes walk from Charles Bridge - and although another reviewer said it was the wrong side of Charles Bridge, we actually enjoyed walking across it several times a day as its different each time you walk across and it only takes a minute or two to cross!

one evening my daughter and i were stranded in town after a car failed to pick us up and the hotel despatched the bell boy in a hotel car which i thought was excellent.

would highly recommend this hotel.

Unfortunately not, this was like any hotel with reception staff that were not very friendly but to be fair helpful. The hotel breakfast service was inconsistent you order food that would takes ages to arrive and when it did it was incorrect. We were informed when we checked in that a 20% service charge was automatically added to our bill for the hotel service which I thought was cheeky. Overall I think the hotel was expensive for the region and the location is not the best.

Positives

-Internet access in the rooms
-Room Garden
-Complementary car from the airport

Negatives

-Some off the hotel staff were unfriendly
-Very expensive for the region
-The location is on the wrong side of the river

We are writing this review from our room at the Aria (High Speed Internet access is free in all rooms). We have had a wonderful time here in Prague and the hotel has made it very special for us. We have made friends with many of the staff and would particularly like to mention Zoran (our waiter on New Years Eve), Michael (the restaurant's Maitre'd) and Peter (our breakfast waiter). We have had excellent service from many other members of the hotel staff...too many to mention. The hotel has beautiful decor and the rooms are tastefully finished. The music library is extensive in both amount and diversity. It has been a truly marvellous Prague experience.
Topped off with a couple of glasses of water & Alka Selter tablets waiting for us in our room on our return from a lovely meal and party in the hotel on New Years Eve...p.s the view from the roof top terrace is breathtaking...Thankyou Aria...John & Alexandra.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Aria Hotel for a week in November 2005. This was a great choice for us. Swank decor, a great vibe with the special focus on a wide variety of music and very friendly staff. Ivana, the concierge (who I think rarely stops working!) is truly the greatest asset of this hotel. She is knowledgable, efficient, friendly, and just abounds with helpful information and good recommendations. Take the time to e-mail her before hand and visit with her when you get there.

Ivana arranged for us a private tour with a czech guide named Miroslav. We HIGHLY recommend you spend the day with him (and do book him well in advance!)if you really want to know how czechs lived and live today. He is a wealth of history, and I have never learned so much on a trip in my life. Because we asked, he told us about the communist occupations, liberations, and how life was and has changed. He really put a face to a fascinating country. We rode in his car out into Bohemia and had truly the time of our lives. It was about $50 p/hr, and 7 hours flew by before we knew it!! But it was worth every penny to have a first hand escort and a first hand perspective. He is great!!

Back to the hotel:
Good things: great airport pick-up service - our driver ready and waiting to whisk us away, mimosas upon arrival, smiling friendly staff, early check-in, very clean room, great maid service, modern fun environment with fun cd library, open airy spacious spaces, comfy beds, comfy slippers!

We thought breakfast was actually pretty good compared to other countries we've been too. Choice of eggs cooked to order, plus a selection of other hot items to choose from. Very friendly wait staff. Fresh squeezed orange juice!! Buffet selections, while they did not vary from day to day, had enough offereings. A cereal w/several choice additions, yogurts, sweet pastries, fresh fruit, ham, a couple of cheeses, bagels and fresh breads. I guess we're not that picky, we thought it was great!! If I had paid $600 p/night for our room, yes I would have expected more, but for what we paid, we were very pleased.

Cons - towels a little less than fluffy. DVDs in library are not recent, but some oldies but goodies are in there. In room movies. Just beware - the guide in your room says both channels are in english. They were not. One was in German, the other was in English. And althoug it said previews would be available, they were not so we didn't realize. The movies are also really out of date. At any rate, the two movies we wanted to see, that we ordered were both in German. We spoke w/the front desk and told them the packet in the room was misleading. They strongly indicated that the in room movies are controlled by an outside company and they have no control. We tried to explain that that wasn't the point, the pamphlet was misleading. We didn't scream and demand a refund - we're not that type of couple - we just smiled and asked them to please make sure guests were informed - I'm not sure they got the point. When we checked out they did inform us that they removed one of the charges for the movies, which was a very satisfactory compromise for us. It would have been nicer if they had offered the refund when we mentioned it, but I think the culture needs a little more time to catch up to the 'customer is right thing' and we weren't holding that against them. I definately think 'kind complaining' is best in this country :)

Overall, loved this hotel and most likely would stay again. There are only two other places I would have considered staying, 1)the Alchymest (right out the door and to the left) originally tried to book them, but they were full (and wish someone would write about them on this site) or 2) the Four Seasons - but the reviews on here weren't so great, so I suspect the Aria is the best place to stay!

Oh and location!! This location is PERFECT!! We were able to walk to fine restaurants in Mala Strana everynight, all the Frommer's recommendations are within distance, as well as some very nice predominantly czech restaurants. It's a quiet location and is lovely b/c of proximity to castle and to the Charles Bridge. The only thing it is NOT close too is the subway (which by the way is a breeze to use). Otherwise, great location, and great experience overall! It met all of our expectations!!

Just returned from Aria Hotel. The location was perfect. You can walk to everywhere within minutes and the area was very safe at night (this is important in Prague!)

As for weakness, I thought breakfast was very below standard. Your selection is very limited and the coffee was awful. For the amount of money paid, I thought the breakfast should have been better.

Rooms were fine. But I would say ambience of the hotel was better than the rooms itself.

You do pay for the convenience of the location and service. I will try Four Seasons next time.
