Golden Well was the 2nd hotel we stayed in Prague during our recent visit in December. We read about this hotel from a travel guide book and decided to check it out.

The hotel (actually it feels like a upscale boutqiue residential apartment) is located up a little slope off the main street, and off a neighbourhood square. We were dropped off at the neighbourhood square as the road leading up to the hotel was too narrow for a car to enter. (Note: if you have heavy bags then ring the hotel for assistance with the bags. The road can be quite slippery in winter)

We have a very comfortable room on the 2nd floor with views out to the steps and the Prague castle on the far end. In the morning, the roof of the neighbouring buildings were covered with powdered snow, it was a magical sight.

Breakfast was served on the 4th floor restaurant with even better view. Food was of a high quality and the service was prompt.

We walked to the metro station (Malostranska) and Charles Bridge and realised that it was very convenient to explore Prague on foot.

Overall it was a very enjoyable stay and I would recommend this hotel.

If I were to be picky, then I wish if I could have a larger room. The room we had at Golden Well was a little small compared to all the hotel rooms we had stayed during our recent travel.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher room looking towards the castle.

Great boutique hotel which I ever stay. Just 5 min. walking from "Karluv Most", so it is central location, but just a few step in - and you hardly may see any people, so peaceful and calm, that you may rest and enjoy after all noises and crowded The Old Town..
The breakfast which is servlng on the roof-terrace restaurant is excellent, the girls-waiters are very professional and friendly, the view on Prague is magnificent.
All and all - Love that place so much, Thank you that you made our stay so unforgettable and pleasant !

Room Tip: Location is so quiet that I think all room - as our - are without any noise,

You can't go past this stunning boutique hotel for a stay in Prague. Incredible, genuine service - we felt as if we were the only guests there. Nothing was too much trouble and the personal touches made all the difference. Not to mention gorgeous rooms and a stunning restaurant with views out over the river and old town beyond. Decorated with Prague style. And everything in walking distance. If we could give it a 6 we would.

There are a lot of great hotels, but staying at some of them you feel like you could be anywhere in the world. It is definitely not the case with Golden Well hotel that to me seemed to represent the quintessence of Prague. Everything about it - the architecture, the location, room design and the views both from our room and the Terrace restaurant reflected the miracle of this jaw-dropping city. I was there for business, but we did walk around the Old Town and like some other reviewers noted, I found the Mala Stana location much nicer for staying. The Old Town, although very beautiful, has losts of crowds and is very busy. The area where the Golden Well is located is very quiet especially at night and creates a feeling as if time has stopped there. On our first night the concierge recommended Palfy Palace restaurant for dinner. I would highly recommend this place, only 5 minute walk from the hotel, not only for its food, but also for the atmosphere. Looked like a very upscale place mainly filled with beautifully dressed locals. Prague is definitely not to be missed as a place to visit, and even one visit would not be enough for it. I miss it already as well as the warmth and comfort of the Golden Well hotel and its highly professional friendly personnel.

Room Tip: try to get a room on a higher floor. The higher you are the better the view, but there are only four...

An excellent hotel if you want to be treated like a king. The service was impeccable, the room was amazing with lots of lovely little touches. Drinks on arrival, wine on ice in your room. We were staying for our wedding anniversary and the hotel left a beautiful homemade cake in our room to celebrate. Breakfast was mind-blowing, with amazing views over Prague. The staff were attentive, friendly and all together very professional. One of the best hotels I have stayed in - better than Raffles in Singapore. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Prague it added to making our trip a memorable and unforgettable time. Ladies - loads of wonderful molton brown products

From check in to departure the service was impeccable but without the pretensiousness of most luxury hotels. A great and stylish hotel but above all relaxing. Even the 7 course degustation dinner ( excellent although priced for special romantic celebrations only !) was served in a calm and relaxed way- made special of course by the wonderful view of Prague. Yes all the great reviews are fully justified! Enjoy!!!

From the moment we booked on line to the moment we received a lovely personal email on our return home, the charming staff pulled out all the stops to make our stay truly memorable. We felt like incredibly special guests and have no doubt that all the other guests did too. The location is unsurpassed and the views are very romantic. We shall definitely be returning for more truffle eggs and the most amazing steak ever... Keith & Zoe

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Charming traditional retreat in 16th-century Emperor's residence, set beneath the walls of Prague Castle. Wander up the cobbled, traffic-free streets to The Golden Well (U Zlate Studne), clinging to the wall in the shadow of Prague Castle, and you will uncover one of the city's best kept secrets. This modest collection of little inter-locking houses was once home to Emperor Rudolf II, and later the astronomer Tycho de Brahe. Sensitive renovation - has created a cosy yet refined hotel. The result is a pleasing balance of mod cons - internet access, satellite TV - and old style elegance. ... more   less
