“Lovely little hotel”
Reviewed August 23, 2014

My family of five, including three children ages five, four, and 15 months, recently spent three nights in this charming hotel in the center of Prague. The staff were so helpful and friendly, they made us feel right at home. We stayed in the Imperial Suite, which was very spacious, albeit furnished "interestingly." (There is a baby grand piano in the middle of the living space, which could have been better furnished with an additional sofa, perhaps, as our children were using the only available sofa as their pull-out bed).

We took advantage of the wine and cheese offered every evening in the lovely garden. It was perfect for the children to play a bit while we relaxed and discussed plans for the following day.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone without hesitation.

We arrived late from an all day train ride and didn't know what to expect. We were immediately impressed by the 17th Century building and the sumptuous décor, but more so by the friendly and helpful staff. We were given complimentary welcome glasses of champagne and told of some good restaurants that stayed open late in the neighborhood. When we returned from dinner, we were very happy to see our suite, and we immediately felt at home. The entire room was furnished for comfort and ease and luxury and we relaxed. The next day's breakfast was superb and the service all very friendly and genuine. Over the next few days, we received lots of helpful advice from the front desk. One hotel employee even stayed late at work so he could help me pick a good restaurant for our last night in Prague. I can see why there are so many autographed photos of stars in the alcove in the lobby. This hotel delivers.

Room Tip: We had a suite in a corner of the main building. the street is very quiet and this corner room let i...

We stayed in the Josef II Family Suite for three nights and were very disappointed. Upon arrival, we were greeted by several spiders all over the room and the window sills were dirty. We asked them to clean it and they did, but the next day, we had spiders again. Also, the cleaning wasn't good.

The room size is ok. The decoration is a matter of taste, we found it to be a bit over the top. Look at the pictures to decide.

The breakfast lacked in quality as well. We ordered scrambled eggs but were greeted by a slimy lump of an egg-like substance.

Service was ok, but not exceptional.

Overall, we can't recommend this hotel. There are plenty of other options in Prague, so choose one of those.

AlchymistLuxuryGroup, Manažer at Alchymist Nosticova Palace, responded to this review, August 19, 2014
Dear Tony M,

first of all thank you for taking the time to post a review on TripAdvisor.
We always appreciate our clients sharing their thoughts and opinions on their time with us. We see it as a great opportunity to learn and improve our services which has always been our main goal.

Words cannot express how sorry we feel about the couple of not so positive reviews we have received recently. While we still believe the overall quality of the service provided in Alchymist Nosticova Palace is on a truly high level, these feedbacks make us want to work even harder to get even better and prove to our current and future visitors that we are truly worth the high ratings we have earned on the number of different webpages.

I would hereby like to react to the points of dissatisfaction mentioned in Tony M´s feedback.

To find a spider in the room can be – we understand – a rather unpleasant experience. This situation cannot unfortunately be avoided in any building and can occur even despite the thorough cleaning which our housekeeping staff provides on daily basis. We would like to point out that when raised to our attention by the reviewer this matter was dealt with immediately and – we do believe – efficiently.

The other source of disappointment our former client claims to have experienced during his stay in Alchymist Nosticova Palace were the scrambled eggs served during the breakfast. This we feel very frustrated about since we are not aware of any complaint being raised through-out the time the gentleman and his family spent with us. On the contrary – their daily order included the above mentioned egg dish. Our chef takes great pride in preparing the high quality food to our clients´ liking at all times. If we however do not receive any feedback and only learn about the client´s „unhappiness“ from a TripAdvisor review several days or even weeks later it is very hard for us to react adequately and improve their condition in order to make them feel comfortable and satisfied.
Dear TripAdvisor readers and our future valued guests. We would hereby like to ask you to take into consideration all the great, positive feedbacks Alchymist Nosticova Palace received during its years of functioning on the Prague market. These – we are very sure – are not a coincidence but a result of a consistently excellent service provided by all of our staff and also due to the perfect location and lovely ambience of the hotel.

Alchymist Luxury Group which our hotel is a part of has during its 17 years of existence provided many visitors of the beautiful city of Prague with the most special and memorable holidays.

We are also always here for you so – please – do talk to us! Let us know all about what you like or dislike, what your opinion on our service is. Only in this way can we provide the best, most personalized and enjoyable experience for you.

Thank you very much,
Lucie Nizka

We stayed at the Alchymist Nosticova Palace for five nights in July and loved every moment of it. Prague is a truly beautiful city and our trip was made even better by staying here. This old palace has been tastefully converted into a small boutique hotel. Our beautiful Junior Suite was decorated in antique style and was exceptionally spacious with a sitting and work area and excellent closet space. The luxury modern marble bathroom added to pleasure. Fantastic buffet breakfast with everything of the highest quality. Great selection and fantastic croissants, breads and baked goods. Late afternoon complimentary cheese and wine added to the feeling of this being more than just a hotel. Service was excellent with helpful and friendly front desk staff. Our package included airport limo pickup and drop off with very helpful and welcoming drivers. This was particularly appreciated with our very late arrival in Prague.

The hotel is located in a quiet cobbled street and within easy walking distance of all the main sights including the Castle and Old Town Square and a short and pretty stroll to the Charles Bridge. It is close to a delightful park with gorgeous river and Old Town views. There are excellent cafés, bars and restaurants in the neighborhood. Truly a charming small hotel

Room Tip: The Junior Suites are wonderful

We really enjoyed our stay here. From the time we arrived, we were treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. Staff were at all times alert to our needs and genuinely friendly. The location is excellent (near the embassies and the castle as well as being just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of downtown). The breakfast is huge and will set you up for your whole day! The room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. Thank you to all at the Alchymist Palace who helped make this such a memorable stay in the beautiful city of Prague.

We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel's accommodations, atmosphere and location on a quiet cobblestone street in Mala Strana (the Lesser City). It is located away from the large crowds of tourists, yet within easy walking distance of many restaurants with pleasant courtyards and outdoor seating, the Charles Bridge and the Old City. Most of all we enjoyed the thoroughly attentive, warm, friendly staff - from the front desk to the concierge and wait staff in the breakfast restaurant. Karel and Robert, the concierges, were truly outstanding. Karel provided valuable tips and local insights for day trips we took out of Prague in our rental car. We also enjoyed the free wine and cheese tasting every evening and the beautiful walled & landscaped courtyard with tables and chairs immediately across the street from the hotel's main entrance. Our room & breakfast were terrific! Thank you to the entire staff who made our stay one of the most enjoyable of our lives!
