“Amazing stay, highly recommended”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

My friend and I have just returned from a three day stay in this great hotel. We were made most welcome by the reception. The staff were exceedingly helpful and went out of their way to make our time there special. For example, fruit and chocolate in the room and a fifteen percent discount card for the hotel restaurant. Also a free pass to go up the tower. The hotel is in an excellent position just on the Charles bridge. It is very quiet, extremely well equipped and has the most amazing roof top terrace! Our room was very clean and beautifully decorated. I would recommend this hotel for couples and young people and I intend to return to this hotel again in October. Thank you for a wonderful memory!

We rented a two room suite with 3 beds for our family of 5. Fair price and plenty of room. Everyone slept comfortably and my wife and I even had some privacy!

Great location next to the Charles Bridge. Easy walk to anywhere you wanted to go.

The staff was great. Martin at the desk was great to the kids.
The sommelier at their restaurant picked reasonably priced, fabulous wine and the food was excellent too. They gave a 15% discount at the restaurant and a creperie next to the hotel.

My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Highly recommended. We may go back and stay there again.

Location: About seven blocks from the Malostranska Metro station, which was four stops from Hlavni Nadrazi Train Station. The main hotel and restaurant are literally under/attached to the Lesser Gate of the Charles Bridge. Cross the bridge to get to Old Town which includes Astronomical Clock, Wenceslas Square, many restaurants and shops. In New Town, just a few blocks to funicular for Petrin Tower and tram/bus/walk up to Hradcany area. Many restaurants and local (food, beverage) markets are just steps from the hotel. Walk under the bridge to visit Mala Strana parks, restaurants and sightseeing boat tours.

Main Hotel lobby: Although small, the interior is well decorated and welcoming. A rooftop lounge contains a few tables and chairs and is open until 22:00; no bar service but you are welcome to bring your own refreshments.

Dependence lobby. Outside door secured by hotel key lock. A beautiful, large world map tapestry hung in the hallway and the small interior sitting room included a desktop computer for guest use. The attached restaurant granted a 15% discount for hotel guests. Elevator was modern (safe and reliable) and antique stairs are beautiful.

Staff was friendly, polite, and helpful. After checking in, Martin told us of the free pass available to visit the interior of the Lesser Gate, encouraged us to visit the hotel’s rooftop terrace and shared his favorite artifact, the ancient stairs located in the Dependence. Once checked in, he walked us to the Dependence building in which we were staying. In the middle of the next (very hot) day when he saw us return to our room, a basket of fresh fruit was delivered to our room for our enjoyment. At breakfast, when I asked how to pronounce a few words in Czech, the waiter was glad to help and offered to write them down for me (dekuji = thank you; dobry den = good day). Upon checkout, we were given a beautiful magnet to remember our stay in Prague.

Our standard room was located in Dependence building across the cobbled-stone street from the main hotel and we arrived to find a cellophane bag of chocolates and a large bottle of water. Two twin beds (for king-sized comfort) were comfortable. A small table with two chairs provided a sitting area. Because the building is extremely old, the air conditioning unit is the portable type. Although it was a bit noisy, it did a great job especially considering the 95 F degree days. Internet access was free and connection was excellent.

The bathroom was clean and completely modernized; tiled ceiling to floor. Wish list for bathroom would be an additional grip/safety bar as the tub is very high off the floor (at least by American standards) and an additional hook for clothes/towel.

The Main Hotel Restaurant: Breakfast was included with the cost of our room. The buffet style included fresh fruits and vegetables, three hot dishes (e.g., eggs, meat, cooked vegetable), cereal, yogurt, Danish, breads, juices and hot beverages. The wait staff provided specialty breakfast drinks (e.g., espresso, cappuccino) upon request. For other meals (did not try) hotel guests were given a 15% discount.

From the time we arrived at hotel Pod Vezi till the time we checked out my husband and I were thoroughly impressed with our stay here. One of the Martin's greeted us at the front desk upon our arrival with plenty of warmth, information about Prague, the hotel, and things to do that we were excited from the start. Martin made certain that all our needs were met throughout our stay as we stopped at the front desk often for assistance to book an Opera, book and e-bike tour, or get directions to a location in the city. Martin was always happy to help in any way he could to make our stay truly memorable. Our room was large, clean, quiet and located just across the street from the main lobby of the hotel which we felt added to the ambiance of Pod Vezi. Being located at the base of the Charles bridge was an easy and central location to see the city from. Breakfasts at the hotel were a wonderful start to our day and offered plenty of choices. A thank you gift of champagne and a fruit basket on our second day of stay was truly appreciated. Our final day enjoying a delicious sweet crepe at the Creperie compliments of our hosts truly capped off a terrific stay. Thank you Pod Vezi!

The place to be in Prague, close proximatey to everything, 2 mins you are on Charles bridge. The atmosphere around this little square where the hotel is located is so alive, buzzing. Staff are outstanding in the hotel especially reception staff, rooms are great, make sure you book here you will be so pleased, we were.

Room Tip: We were on ground floor in the other building, sometimes a bit noisy from the street, but didnt both...

The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The went consistently above and beyond to help me and other travelers have a great experience.

Perfect location, right on the Charles Bridge in Lesser Town. Food, convenience stores, and more were right out the door.

The rooms were quiet, large, and comfortable. Security was excellent. Internet worked without fail. Breakfast offered good variety each day and from day to day. Staff make an excellent cappuccino included in the breakfast, and the attached restaurant and Creperie were delicious, and the discount was appreciated.
