“Fantastic stay”
Reviewed June 9, 2013 via mobile

We stayed for three nights in May 2013. This hotel is in a fantastic location right under the tower of the Charles Bridge. Considering the location the hotel was relatively quite. The staff were superb - friendly, knowledgable, and very helpful. The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was ample and we enjoyed it sitting outside. The rooftop terrace was fabulous and we enjoyed our complimentary battle of champagne there on our last night. Accommodation wise, the Pod Vezi was the highlight of our European trip.

Why stay anywhere else?
The hotel has one of the best locations in Prague, right at the side of the Charles Bridge, tucked away for peace and quiet yet handy for all those must see places. To the left the Charles Bridge and the Old Town, to the right a pretty shopping street leading to Lesser Town Square, St Nicholas' Church and upward to the Castle. You are just steps away from great views, achingly beautiful buildings and awe inspiring culture. On your doorstep are lovely quiet side streets with friendly bars, good restaurants, hidden squares and magical views. Add in to the mix friendly, informative, bend over backwards staff, a superb restaurant, comfy beds, fab breakfast and free Wi-Fi and you have THE place to stay in Prague.
We stayed in room 34 in the hotel's main building. It was huge - feels like a suite - but booked as a deluxe double. Two single beds joined together as a super king (6 foot/180cm), air con, windows on all sides, fridge etc etc. And don't forget to go up to the roof terrace - the views are great and it's very peaceful after a busy day sight seeing.
It's a 5* experience you don't want to miss.

Room Tip: Book a double deluxe or superior and enjoy what other hotels would call a suite.

Pod Vezi is located in the heart of Old Town of Prague, which makes it a great location to walk around the beautiful city. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, namely Martin who was very knowledgeable with recommendations. The room was very cute, spacious and clean. The hotel is close to some of the most amazing restaurants and just 3 minutes away from the Charles Bridge.

Room Tip: Please ask for a room in the newly renovated building across from the original hotel.

Having read the excellent reviews for the Pod Vezi we had no hesitation in booking a room for our trip to Prague. We were not disappointed!! We arrived at the airport and the hotel had arranged a taxi to pick us up.....it was approx. 30 mins to the hotel and cost 25euros ( 600 CK ).
The reception staff were delightful, so welcoming and helpful. This is not a large hotel and the staff worked in the dining room also.....one got the impression that they are all very proud of their hotel and as I said they were all quite charming. Our room was in the Dependance, literally across the street from the reception. It is an old building which has been renovated beautifully. Our room was a standard room but it was large and airy with 2 windows overlooking one end of the Charles Bridge. The bed was huge, extremely comfortable with beautiful bedding. Likewise the bathroom was spacious and modern. Every evening there was a plate of chocolates, exotic fruit or small biscuits left for us which was a lovely touch. The room also has a flat screen TV with BBC World, coffee and tea making facilities, minibar, safe, hairdryer and bathrobes.
Breakfast was in the main building in a charming dining room. The selection was extensive with cereals, porridge, pancakes, cheese, cold meats, sausages, different types of eggs and a huge selection of bread and pastries, freshly squeezed orange juice and much more. A meal to set you up for the rest of the day!!
The reception organised tours for us, recommended places to visit and where to get the best exchange rates. The hotel has its own creperie, open all day for light meals. We were given a voucher which entitled us to a free crepe ( absolutely delicious) and coffee.
The hotel is literally at the end of the Charles Bridge. Everywhere is within walking distance so it is in an ideal location. There are some lovely walks along by the river and some great restaurants nearby. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Room Tip: We were in a standard room on the 3rd floor.....it was brilliant. I believe there may be more luxuri...

My sister and I stayed in the new wing of the hotel, which was cozy and convenient. The staff were both charming and exceedingly helpful. They were very knowledgable about the sites, and cheerful.
The roof terrace was private and relaxing. The rooms spacious but cozy. The breakfasts were perfect - both hot and cold food, lots of fruit and pastries, and cappachino delivered to the table. We had stayed at the Hilton for three days - but the food is really expensive and it is a bit soulless. The Pod Vezi is a great place to stay.

We spent three nights at the Pod Vezi -- good but certainly not great. We were in a fourth floor room in the Depandance, the hotel's second building across the square. The elevator only goes to the third floor, so getting heavy suitcases to and from the room was a bit of a chore. The room was large, but much of the square footage is under the eaves and is therefore essentially unusable. The room was also very dark (only two very small dormer windows), with very poor room lighting. The room lighting made it impossible to do any work there. Small but functional bathroom (it was spotlessly clean). Breakfasts were OK -- highlights were fresh squeezed OJ and very good rolls, but the hot dishes were marginal and it appeared that they ran out of some items well before the end of breakfast service. The staff was very nice, although the front desk booked our taxi to the airport for the wrong day. All in all, a nice, well-run hotel in a very convenient location, but I am amazed that it is ranked in the top ten in Prague.

Room Tip: Be sure to request a room that is not on the top floor -- rooms on lower floors have much larger win...
