Although not in the Starometske (Old Town), the Park is right on the 17 tram line and is less than 10 minutes from Old Town in the Holesovice area, near the Industrial Palace Exhibition Centre. It has ten floors, been recently renovated and has wonderful breakfasts. Some of the desk staff are very rude, while others are helpful. It is a business-style hotel, athough there were three large groups there when we stayed (all American tour groups). The internet connection (two computers) is a huge rip-off.

This is an excellent hotel, is in superb location, very quiet.

Stayed at the Park Hotel for a week in February. Party of 18 teenagers from Cornwall and three lecturers. The hotel was excellent. Rooms and public areas up to usual London/European standard. Rooms had really good showers and hair dryers, comfortable beds with duvets, and warm. Took thermals but although the wind was cold and it had snowed didn't feel much colder than winter here. Breakfast was included and it was massive - everything from salads to cooked English to a health bar - excellent. There is a small casino and a comfortable bar. The Hotel is a few minutes from the No.14 tramline which is a direct route into the main town. Suggest you get a three day travel pass which covers all trams, buses and underground, and you can buy it when you arrive at the airport from a kiosk near the exit or at any of the supermarkets or newsagents near by. Nearby there are local bars which were really friendly places and local restaurants - look in particular for a pizza restaurant - we invaded it on the first night and the food was brilliant. A good local supermarket, called Alberts, for cheap booze, water and chocolate. Basically, food and drink in Prague is very cheap although we did find it varied in quality. Try the goulash in bread but don't expect any vegetables - tends to just be potatoes or bread dumplings. All the usual sights, plus the communism museum and the film studios, though it is not easy to get in on a trip to the latter. Prague is very contained - most of the sites are all within easy walking distance of each other.
Going out of the airport don't buy any water for the plane in the duty free or any other liquids for that matter - the security check is after you have been in the duty free and before boarding the plane. Drink from the duty free shop is o.k. as it is sealed in a see through carrier bag with a receipt - but anything else will not be allowed through in hand baggage.
Clubs are friendly - though they don't seem bothered about under age drinking. Smoking is everywhere.
Souvenirs - puppets, glass, wooden toys - a lot from the Czech republic, not a lot of Asian imports.
Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Cheap and convenient, though it is obviously used by school parties which shouldn't put you off.

The Parkhotel Prague was a very good choice for us. My spouse and I, Americans, are moderately experienced in European travel, but had never before visited the Czech Republic. We are our own travel agents and prefer to travel by train.

The Parkhotel is convenient to the sights of the city, with a well-served tram stop right out front. In 10 minutes, the tram brought us within a couple blocks of Old Town Square. The hotel staff spoke English. The hotel struck us as dedicated to business travelers with a secondary focus on German tourists. Our room was very modern, comfortable, and spotless. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with a diverse selection of quality items. We stayed 3 nights and were very happy with the value. We will definitely strongly consider returning to this hotel on our next trip to Prague.

I stayed in this hotel as part of a trip organised by a travel agent so I probably wouldn't have booked it myself. I was pleasantly surprised as you get a lot for the low cost. The room was spotless and you could open the windows, a big plus with me. We only had a shower in our bathroom but it was still a good size. Restaurant very nice and we also ate at "Corso" and the chinese restaurant directly across the road. The tram is right outside and gets you into all the action in about five minutes.

Was pleasantly surprised at how clean and well kept the rooms were given the low price. We went in rather blindly and had a fantastic experience. It's a short tram ride from historic area but still right in the middle of the action on it's own. Great bars/restaurants/museums/casino right there. No negatives, and I'm not a terribly low-maintenance traveler.
