We recently stayed in thhis hotel with our family. I corresponded with the reservations specialist Mr. Tomas who helped us arrange our taxis to pick us up from the bus station as we were a big group. As we came to the hotel late, we could not go out to get milk for our babies and the gentleman at the front desk provided us with a carton of milk. He also helped us make our bookings for the city tour the next day and got us a good deal as we were a big group.

The rooms were pretty spacious, neat, comfortable. The breakfast spread was decent. Service was very good.

Our family had an age group range of 2 -72 and everybody enjoyed their stay.

Few negatives which they can easily improve on :

1. Advertised as Free Airport Shuttle hotel - but this is only one-way from the airport and we actually booked this hotel in Kayak because of that reason as well and hence had to shell out for taxis. I wish they had advertised it accordingly and felt that we were mislead.

2. Sometimes, the front desk people are not that helpful. We did not know where to go get the tram tickets and the guy did not guide us properly at all which made us go around the place in loops.

3. The same guy could not help us get the Karlovy Vary tickets as he refused to negotiate a group price. We went to the old town square and got a better deal but am sure the older gentleman who helped us the first day would have found a way to help us as this was their business lost.

4. Some rooms face the strip club outside and that was little difficult when you travel with kids.

Room Tip: Higher floors had good views (not the ones on the road side)

Hotel Praga 1 is a beautiful, clean, spacious hotel, conveniently located in Praha 2. I asked for a high room, but was given a room on the second floor. This was not a problem as room 201 was very spacious and had everything we wanted. It had a queen sized bed, and a single bed. The room felt very light and modern, everything was very clean, there was a hair dryer in the bathroom (would probably have taken me 2 hours to blow dry my hair as it didn't have much power/heat). Lots of mirrors and plug sockets. There was a radiator in the bathroom, and two in the bedroom, all could be controlled internally. There was also air con but we didn't need this. The shower was very powerful, yes it's slightly small but your not doing a dance in there! There is a small kettle, cups and spoons and they provide some fruit tea. There is no coffee/milk/normal tea bags so you might want to bring these or purchase them from the shop next door. I took a couple of "English Tea Bags" from breakfast up to the bedroom and bought some milk from the shop. It's not proper tea but it's a damn sight nicer than fruit tea! Also the supermarkets sell Nescafe 3 in 1 sachets that have the milk whitener in them. Room has a TV which has BBC world as the only English speaking channel, however we got into some Czech quiz shows on an evening whilst getting ready which was amusing, including the Czech version of Come Dine with Me!

Breakfast was the standard European affair, a few pastries (if you got there later you missed the croissants) bread, meats such as salami etc, cereals with milk or yoghurt. A coffee dispenser of Douwe Eggberts which dispensed Cappucinos/Lattes/Espresso etc. We didn't bother with it on the last day as we wanted to sleep in before our late night flight, and bought some croissants from the supermarket. There is a couple of hot alternatives- boiled or scrambled eggs, some sausages (looked like hot dogs!) and the staple breakfast addition of mixed vege! It would have been nice to have some bacon or something more filling but this was ok to start your day off. Breakfast is 7am-10am.

There is a mini bar/fridge in the rooms. Really affordable prices, we bought a beer but didn't bother with much else. Staff are friendly and helpful, giving you some leaflets and a map when you check in. Check out time is 12pm, but they have a luggage room that is locked safely and securely so you can leave your things in there. The hotel has wifi, this was fantastic as we used it to look at online maps and the trip advisor Prague app. We had no problems with connectivity.

On arriving at the airport we realised that we missed the last free shuttle bus to the hotel (8pm). Following other travellers advise we decided to use the public transport system. Firstly go to the information desk and he will circle the station on a map for you, we used this map throughout the 4 days of our trip. One side has a detailed street view with all of the land marks and street names on them for all of the times you will get lost this is a huge help! and the other side has a map of the underground metro system. You need to take the 100 bus to it's very last stop, we didn't see anywhere to purchase tickets for this and just jumped on, no idea if it's a free service or not but we didn't pay when we returned to the airport either! You then need to get the Metro Line B (amber coloured) to Karlovo náměstí, you will be starting the metro line at Zličín so this should help you with the direction. Once you get off the Metro station you need to exit the station. This is where we got lost, and what should have been a 3 minute walk took us 45 minutes!! When you exit the station you should walk up a hill only very slightly. There should be a road running horizontally that will have trams on them. You need to walk left past a supermarket that is navy coloured with a yellow coloured name sign (can't remember what it's called but reminded us of Aldi). You then cross the road and tram lines at the zebra crossing. The hotel in on the hill infront of you- you can see big green banners that say Your Prague Hotel (or something to that effect) and you will see the strip club opposite. If you don't see this in the first 5 minutes of your journey and you see a river instead that means you've come out at the back of the station and are further away from the hotel!

Some more info on the location of the hotel- if you turn left and walk to the traffic lights, the next left is where the Irish bar is. We went here twice to watch the football, don't eat there as it's overpriced but they do some nice snacks of nachos etc when watching the game. Also don't eat at the Chinese restaurant opposite it, it was awful and made us poorly. Continue down this street to the main square.

Would recommend this hotel to everyone, loved Prague and would gladly return to here.

Room Tip: It seemed that the rooms on the corner (ending is 1 and 5 I think) are the bigger rooms. The room is...

The Praga 1 is a centrally located hotel in an ideal spot to view Prague. A short stroll down the road brings you to the river where you can walk along to Charles Bridge or grab a tram if you prefer. Ask for a top floor room at the back of the hotel (email and get a swift response!)- this is a much better view. Breakfast is good for the price as definitely sets you up for the day.
The service is very good BUT....one young lad who seems to be on the night shift only knows "yes" and "no". We somehow asked for a restaurant reccommendation and were told to turn left and continue down the street. After 15 minutes we turned back and asked him again. He then decided that we should go left and not right. When we showed him our map he only wanted to use his own! PLEASE BEWARE the hotel's map (you receive oneupon check in) is completely wrong. The hotel is located in a slightly different place to the one given on the map.
WiFi is free and the shower is good and powerful..a bit small for the larger person perhaps but that certainly is not a major issue when in Prague.
I shall be returning and organised an Easy Jet transfer from airport to hotel and back- no hassle at all.

Shall definitely be returning soon.

Room Tip: Top floor (6) and room overlooking back of the hotel.

The location of the hotel is good - just 5 min by walk to Karlovo Namesti underground station and about 15 min to Karlovi most and the Old city. Hotel is situated just in front of Sheraton hotel, at a one way street, so there are no disturbing street noise from outside.
We stayed at family room and the rooms were of a good size, with free Wi-Fi and hot water kettle cups sugar and teabags.
The negative - the shower was too small, rooms seem need some renovation, and the selection of the TV channels was very limited.
The breakfast was OK, but not exactly what you expected in 4 star hotels.
There are some excellent restaurants just a 100 m on left side of the hotel. Namely, U Pravdu – cosy, not expensive restaurant with live folk music and excellent homemade beer and Czech cuisine.
It is also great that you can use free shuttle bus from the Prague airport – minibus departed each 2 hours from the departure hall, level 2, exit E started from 10:00. Although you should pay 6 Euro per person for the way back to the airport.
The staff was really helpful and friendly.
Generally speaking, this is good hotel but not really 4 stars.

The location of the hotel is excellent for accessing Wenceslas Square with a lovely view from the rear rooms (our was room 601 on the top floor) of the Castle in the distance and bell tower 70 meters away. The staff were very helpful, with a good selection of food available for breakfast which is served in the basement.
The room was large with a queen sized bed and also a single bed along with a table and 4 chairs not to mention the mini bar which was a most welcome addition!
Staff booked our transfer to the airport for our return home and were always polite and always willing to assist with help regarding tours and where to go for that "special meal".
Our flight home was at 8.40 pm and it was nice that the staff locked our cases away so we could enjoy our last day without having to worry about keeping our luggage with us during our last walk around Prague.
Overall a very good hotel which I would recommend and would not hesitate to book again when we visit this fantastic city again.

Room Tip: Email the hotel 1 week prior to travel and request a smoking/no smoking room and also rooms at the r...

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel for 5 days whilst we visited the lovely city of Prague. We was picked up from the airport by the hotel's courtesy bus and took us directly to the hotel. The room on arrival was clean and spacious with a nice window view. During the week the hotel staff helped us with our tours, gave us advice where to go and helped us with tram and taxi arrangements.

The hotel is within walking distance to all major sites, including Wenceslas Square, Old Town Square, Castle and lots more. The breakfast in the morning was adequate, and the drinks in the mini-bar were not too over-priced as per some hotels.

All the staff were more than helpful, including the gentlemen who worked during the day, who gave us help and advice all week, and when my partner had an injury to her knee, arranged a taxi to the hospital, gave us advice on which hospital to go to and arranged all our transport back to the airport.

Overall, the staff made this hotel an enjoyable experience, because I think this hotel is not quite 4 star in terms of breakfast, meals and other facilities.

As we were made so welcome, and all the staff from the cleaning staff through to the manager, made us feel welcome and helped us all the way, we shall definitely be coming back on our next trip to Prague.

Room Tip: A room at the back of the hotel away from the main road.

The hotel is situated just off Wenceslas square so is perfect for shopping and sightseeing. First room wasn't made up so we were given a different room that was clean and tidy apart from a couple of toe nails on the floor so it hasn't been swept! Staff were efficient and friendly, talk about going the extra mile, when I got back to England I emailed the hotel staff about an item my girlfriend wanted from the local market that we didnt get time to buy and they went out to the market for me, bought and posted it to me....I've never been so impressed!
As for Prague it is beautiful just be careful for hidden charges on food bills for things like condiments, and remember to ask for change when paying for food etc and tip as you require otherwise they will tend to keep the change if they don't tell you what is expected as a tip.
Would definitely go back perhaps in the summer this time.
Thanks again to hotel praga 1 for making our visit thoroughly enjoyable
