“Clean, comfortable and centrally located with free Wi-Fi”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

The location of the hotel is good - just 5 min by walk to Karlovo Namesti underground station and about 15 min to Karlovi most and the Old city. Hotel is situated just in front of Sheraton hotel, at a one way street, so there are no disturbing street noise from outside.
We stayed at family room and the rooms were of a good size, with free Wi-Fi and hot water kettle cups sugar and teabags.
The negative - the shower was too small, rooms seem need some renovation, and the selection of the TV channels was very limited.
The breakfast was OK, but not exactly what you expected in 4 star hotels.
There are some excellent restaurants just a 100 m on left side of the hotel. Namely, U Pravdu – cosy, not expensive restaurant with live folk music and excellent homemade beer and Czech cuisine.
It is also great that you can use free shuttle bus from the Prague airport – minibus departed each 2 hours from the departure hall, level 2, exit E started from 10:00. Although you should pay 6 Euro per person for the way back to the airport.
The staff was really helpful and friendly.
Generally speaking, this is good hotel but not really 4 stars.

The location of the hotel is excellent for accessing Wenceslas Square with a lovely view from the rear rooms (our was room 601 on the top floor) of the Castle in the distance and bell tower 70 meters away. The staff were very helpful, with a good selection of food available for breakfast which is served in the basement.
The room was large with a queen sized bed and also a single bed along with a table and 4 chairs not to mention the mini bar which was a most welcome addition!
Staff booked our transfer to the airport for our return home and were always polite and always willing to assist with help regarding tours and where to go for that "special meal".
Our flight home was at 8.40 pm and it was nice that the staff locked our cases away so we could enjoy our last day without having to worry about keeping our luggage with us during our last walk around Prague.
Overall a very good hotel which I would recommend and would not hesitate to book again when we visit this fantastic city again.

Room Tip: Email the hotel 1 week prior to travel and request a smoking/no smoking room and also rooms at the r...

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel for 5 days whilst we visited the lovely city of Prague. We was picked up from the airport by the hotel's courtesy bus and took us directly to the hotel. The room on arrival was clean and spacious with a nice window view. During the week the hotel staff helped us with our tours, gave us advice where to go and helped us with tram and taxi arrangements.

The hotel is within walking distance to all major sites, including Wenceslas Square, Old Town Square, Castle and lots more. The breakfast in the morning was adequate, and the drinks in the mini-bar were not too over-priced as per some hotels.

All the staff were more than helpful, including the gentlemen who worked during the day, who gave us help and advice all week, and when my partner had an injury to her knee, arranged a taxi to the hospital, gave us advice on which hospital to go to and arranged all our transport back to the airport.

Overall, the staff made this hotel an enjoyable experience, because I think this hotel is not quite 4 star in terms of breakfast, meals and other facilities.

As we were made so welcome, and all the staff from the cleaning staff through to the manager, made us feel welcome and helped us all the way, we shall definitely be coming back on our next trip to Prague.

Room Tip: A room at the back of the hotel away from the main road.

The hotel is situated just off Wenceslas square so is perfect for shopping and sightseeing. First room wasn't made up so we were given a different room that was clean and tidy apart from a couple of toe nails on the floor so it hasn't been swept! Staff were efficient and friendly, talk about going the extra mile, when I got back to England I emailed the hotel staff about an item my girlfriend wanted from the local market that we didnt get time to buy and they went out to the market for me, bought and posted it to me....I've never been so impressed!
As for Prague it is beautiful just be careful for hidden charges on food bills for things like condiments, and remember to ask for change when paying for food etc and tip as you require otherwise they will tend to keep the change if they don't tell you what is expected as a tip.
Would definitely go back perhaps in the summer this time.
Thanks again to hotel praga 1 for making our visit thoroughly enjoyable

Ok so its a tricky one this as there are some excellent features to this Hotel but there are some very poor ones as well and it really all depends on which room you get, how long your stay is and which staff you speak to.Please read all of this before you decide as it is a good hotel but there are issues.

Firstly the location is excellent and is only 10 minutes walk from any of the major parts of Prague including the petrin park, Old town or station. Ignore the fact there is a strip club across the road as it is really not an issue and if your offended by strip clubs dont go to Prague as you cant miss them, there is also the Shereton hotel across he road and you get more noise from that which isnt much.

This is not a 4 star hotel by British standards but it is a good one in terms of decor etc and is on par with the likes of Premier Inn etc although it should be noted that this is room dependant as some are better than others. The 4 stars it gives itself I think come from the Czech tourist board which is a bit like the AA and so by there standards it may well be.
However your enjoyment of this hotel will be primerilly driven by which room you have and this dictates the amount of noise, room size and view you will enjoy on your break. We were very lucky and emailed before hand asking for a top floor room at the rear of the hotel. All the rooms ending in a 1 or 5 are much bigger than the others and are double that of a standard hotel room. They also face the rear of the hotel which is much quieter and those on floors 5 and 6 have a lovely view of the city and castle. Rooms ending 2-4 are at the front of the hotel and you do get some noise issues from the very busy road that the hotel is situated on. They are also half the size of the end rooms and have a view of the opposite side of the street. The beds though are comfortable and the rooms are warm if your travelling in winter as we did. If you get a rear facing high room you will not be dissapointed.

All the rooms are the same in terms of bathroom provision which is a shame as the showers in the rooms are pretty rubbish. They are good in terms of water flow and pressure etc but as they are so small and the tap is in a rediculous central position poking 6 inches from the wall you spend half your shower freezing or burning as you nudge the tap while trying to manouver around the small space. Neither my partner nor I are fat but both of us struggled to have a single shower during our stay that did not involve a scream.

Breakfast can also be hit and miss and depending on the length of your stay you will eitherenjoy it or get sick of it. The coffee (which you cant have in your room as they only have tea) is like water (even 4 pushes of the expresso button is like half a spoon of nescafe) and the Fresh juice is squash. The breakfast itself is meat and cheese platters (2meats 2 cheeses) with bread (sometimes stale) and as a hot option hard boiled eggs and mini frankfurters. On one day there was scrambled eggs but after 2 guests had taken some they ran out and said there was no more and on another day there was some form of beans mixed with water and bits of frankfurter (which I think were left over from the previous day).
Basically its the same thing everyday and its very boring after day 2 especially when you realise that in some cases the food is actually yesterdays if not the days before. If there is fruit out its cut up so you cant have a whole banana for example and it has gone brown even for those seated early. After reading a previous review on TA I cut a triangle out of a piece of ham and cheese on the first day sure they had to be wrong but on day 4 it was still there and still the same tray. This said you can fill up on pastries as long as you dont try to take any out of the restaurant as one person did in which case you will get told off like a school child.

The Staff are either fantastcally helpful or Rude and useless depending on which one you speak to which is a real shame as you remember the receptionist that was more interested in facebook than the increadibly helpful night porter who was only too happy guide and advise or her colleague that instantly tried to fix a problem and could not do enough to help.

This is basically a good value hotel in a great location with very hit and miss service. Purely on the value and location we would stay there again but only if we could guarentee a rear room.

Room Tip: 501 or 601 are the best by miles. Twice as big as the others rear facing and no noise from the stree...

Thank you very much for your comprehensive review .We appreciate that.

Therefore are larger than standard room.

Great Hotel booked through Easyjet City Breaks.
Dispite being on a main road double glazing made room very quiet. Double room was large and very clean. Bed very comfortable. Staff all English speaking and very helpful.
Breakfast was what you might expect, toast, rolls, cake, pasta etc...
A very easy walk to the all the sights (Old Town Square approx 10 mins easy walk)
Taxi from the airport booked through hotel 680 CZK

Booked through Easyjet this hotel is not a 5 star but for a weekend break provides a comfortable and central base. The hotel only provides breakfast which is a typical continental mixture, the rooms are warm, quiet and comfortable with TV and free wifi. The staff are friendly and very helpful. It is possible to walk to all the major tourist attractions within about half an hour with many only about ten minutes away. There are also a number of excellent restaurants in very easy walking distance plus major shops are close by.

Room Tip: Ask for a non smoking room if required
