“Ideal Hotel for short stay”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

My wife & I have just returned from a city-break stay in Prague last September and had a really relaxing stay in the St George. The hotel is well placed, fairly centrally in southern Prague, only a 15 minute walk from Wenceslas Sq. etc, with a few shops and bars nearby. We were wary of stag parties staying but the hotel itself was was fairly quiet with only slight noise from the road traffic, it is probably too subdued for the younger crowd I think (but ideal for us middle-aged!).The buffet breakfast was enjoyable too with plenty of choice-even for us vegetarians- I don't know what some people expect when they visit central Europe. The bedrooms were decent and cleaned daily so overall a highly recommended hotel.

I stayed at the St George hotel in Prague for two night last week. Was very pleasantly surprised. It was a 3 star hotel but it would have been a four star in England. The bed room was spacious very very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was typically continental but also catered for English visitors. A large and varied selection of meats, cheeses, preserves and breads. Also of Czechs were staying at this hotel so it wasn't just catering to foreign tourists.

The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay, hope to see you again.

I stayed here in 2012 whilst visiting Prague with friends and when we ended up in Prague this summer the Hotel St George was the natural choice given our excellent stay here the year before. I would describe the hotel as small and cosy with the theme being traditional. The decor and furniture is old and grand but well maintained and the hotel is spotless throughout. The staff here on both occasions have been excellent, very friendly. Clientele is mixed and even though many staying here come to enjoy the bars of Prague it was very quiet. Lovely place and thoroughly recommended.

I've stayed here twice now, received excellent customer service from different staff members but exceptional friendly customer service from Jan an absolute credit to the hotel, always made sure we were ok and sat and chatted with us all the time, really nice gym & jacuzzi which was available whenever i asked, rooms were cleaned regularly and it's a good location, 5 minutes walk into centre! would recommend this hotel.

I stayed here with a stag group of around a dozen, and the room was basic, but functional. Breakfast was continental so don't expect anything else. I was happy with it, but the younger guys went elsewhere.
It is a 5/10 min walk to the main drag, so pretty central.
I asked for help re on-line check in and the receptionist couldn't have been more helpful.
Very small bar area, mainly unmanned during the day. Pool table and seating area.
Mini bar in room, but one or two shops within 100 yards for anything else required.
One tip. Before you leave the UK, call or email the hotel for a taxi, to meet you at the airport as you will save 50% against the airport taxi. So £25 versus £50.

Room Tip: Not sure it matters much in all honesty!

Stayed here for 3 nights from the 12th September, and would stay here again on a future trip to Prague. The rooms were a good size, and although the double bed was two singles pushed together, it was comfortable. We had a ground floor room, away from the street, which was good as the hotel is on the corner of a main road, however, the lift could be heard- although this wasn't a massive problem- certainly not something a few Czech beers didn't sort out! The bathroom was a good size, clean and separate from the bedroom. The mini bar had a good selection of drinks, at a reasonable price for a hotel mini bar, but it was not necessary to buy drinks from there, as there was a supermarket a minutes walk around the corner.
To reach the centre of Prague, you do not necessarily need to use the metro stop around the corner, as Wenceslas Square is around a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel, during which you can appreciate the fantastic Baroque architecture Prague has to offer. From there- if aided with a map- it is quite easy to reach the other sights of Prague on your check-list on foot.
The breakfast at the hotel offered was continental style- a good selection of breads, cheese, cold meats, yogurt etc, and the staff were very helpful, offering advice on where to eat locally when we arrived in the evening. The only negative which comes to mind was the absence of tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms, although these were available at breakfast.
All in all, this is a fantastic base to explore Prague, especially when on a budget!

Room Tip: Rooms away from the road do not have traffic noise problems- it is a busy road!

We are currently considering the fact that our rooms have a lack of tea/coffee making facilities.

Well, it wasn't in the centre, we knew that, but thanks to the excellent receptionist, we managed to eat out well, and cheaply, in the local and buzzing bars.
The hotel was clean, comfortable, while not luxurious( it wasn't supposed to be), it served our purposes very well
There was lots of choice at breakfast.. bread, spreads, cake, cereals, yoghurt, cheese, meats, fruit, eggs and warm sausage ....and it was constantly refilled
