Clean and sizeable rooms. Breakfast was better than we expected for the price. Internet available on computers in reception. Possible to walk from this hotel to the city centre, about 15 mins. Train station a bit more than 5 mins walk away, trams closer.

Novomestsky offers fairly basic facilities at a reasonable price. Combined with its excellent location and the provision of free WiFi Internet, make it a good choice for a short stay in Prague.

The hotel is very basic and nothing for people that are picky when it comes to cleanliness. Location is very good. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast buffet was surprisingly good with a good variety. It's an old hotel and not that clean but the location, the friendly staff and free wireless make it interesting for a short trip to beautiful Praha.

We originally had a hotel booked that was supposedly near the Praha city center, but Orbitz had a mistake in their listing and we ended up at the Hotel Novomestsky, the only place left to stay between Christmas and New Years.

This hotel is not for families with small children. It is a no frillls hotel with a bare bones beakfast of bread, jams, cereal etc. The rooms are clean but sparse of decoration. There were 3 people in our party, so one bed was set up outside the master bedroom in the same room as the entrance to the toilet and sink. This was a major disturbance to the third person trying to get some sleep.

The shower was in a room of it's own. No mirror, no sink, and no place to store your toiletries in either the shower room or the toilet/sink room. Both rooms were just large enough to house the bathroom facility. Everytime you needed to brush your teeth, wash your face, you had to carry your possessions back into the room with the sink. Not the end of the world, but an inconvenience none-the-less.

The staff was stingy with the toilet paper and we found ourselves always having to ask for another roll. I think this was more of a cultural and economic way of thinking that I, as an American, needed to understand. The rooms were immaculate and the staff extremely pleasant and helpful although I cannot but feel that if we had stayed at a more expensive hotel, some things may have gone a bit smoother for us.

As an example, I had gotten sick with the flu and my husband had to go in search of a phymacist who might be able to prescribe something for me. The staff knew of only one pharmacy and if not for our language phrase book, he could never have communicated.

The best part of this hotel was that it was off the beaten track and out of the tourist areas. The tram stops were filled with working people, not tourists (like us).

All in all, given the cost of this hotel compared to the ones in the city center itself, it was OK and more suited to two people who are not expecting to be catered to, but are only looking for a place to sleep after a full day of exploring and sight seeing.

  • Liked — Off the beaten track
  • Disliked — Uncomfortable for three people

Novomestsky Hotel has a good location for walking to local attractions and is near tram stops for longer travels. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel rooms are very basic but clean.Breakfast , included in room rate, served in basement restaurant is self serve with reasonable variety of yogurt, cereals, juice and breads. Hot tray of eggs and sausage is available. Most travelers were on tours or on short European holidays. Restaurant & bar service in the evening.
Nothing to write home about but reasonable value.
Note no air conditioning and it was very hot in Prague. Also, not handicap accessable as service elevator is mid-floor after stairs to reception.
Enjoyed our stay but be prepared to accept the lack of pricier hotel comforts.
