“Good price and great location”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

I booked a suite with kitchenette. Even if I was on my own, it was a double. Very spacious room! It had indeed a kitchenette with all that you need, but there were no pots or pans, so it was difficult using it without them. Anyway, the fridge was well used and I had dinner there every night. There’s a Tesco supermarket not too far, so you can fill it with food from there (and actually prices are super cheap!)
Beds are a bit too narrow and they had no light covers, which I think would be convenient for summer. I was there in June and was quite hot in the room.
The room also had a kettle, TV (with some satellite channels), a couch (that I think can be a bed) and a space for dinning with table and chairs. Also a lot of glasses, dishes and forks, spoons, knives… Things were clean and even if the building was not new, it was all fine.
Location was superb. It is not in the middle of the old town, but Mala Strana is a very lively district with lots of attractions and places to see. It is also very well communicated and there’s a tram stop just around the corner in the main street (Újezd) and some buses too. The tram takes you straight to the castle. And the funicular takes you up the Petrin Hill. There’s also an underground station around, Anděl, a 10-15 minutes walk. Good for connecting with the busses from the airport.
The old town isn’t too far anyway and you can walk to the Charles Bridge in minutes and from there to everywhere. Transport is cheap though, so trams are easy and convenient.
Breakfast was good and you could eat as much as you could. There was a nice buffet and had everything I wanted or needed. The breakfast place is in the basement.
The staff was super nice (Vaclav specially!) and they can keep your luggage in the last day. They are also very helpful with every question I had.
There are some nice restaurants around. I just ate in the one in the corner and food was cheap and very good!
So, very happy with this hotel, good price and good service in a great location. I would be back!

Just back from a four day trip to Prague. This hotel is in a quiet location and a short walk from the Charles Bridge. The rooms are warm and comfortable and our particular room had a small kitchenette area with a fridge, small hob and kettle - perfect for making a cuppa. There is a good restaurant a few minutes walk away called the Olympus and there is also a well stocked supermarket nearby. The breakfast is a typical continental breakfast, slightly plain, although there was scrambled egg, small frankfurters and veg. The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful - Vaclav in particular. I would definately stay here again if visiting Prague - a good quality, clean hotel.

The hotel was well situated in a quiet central location but away from the busy tourist areas on the other side of the river. Just a few minutes walk to areas of interest and local transport if needed. Plenty of cafes and bars near by which were cheaper and better value than across river. Our room was very spacious, clean and quiet with the advantage of having self catering facilities. Breakfast was very good although the dining room was rather small and a little cramped when full. Staff were very helpful and spoke good English. Extremely good value accommodation for the price and would certainly recommend for city break on a budget. Would defiantly suit families and groups of friends.

This hotel is ideally situated for sightseeing and relaxing. A short walk to the river and the Charles Bridge without being in all the touristy hubbub. It is a no frills kind of place, but comfortable beds with nice comforters and pillows, and they do not skimp on the heating in the rooms in cold weather. Good hot water and water pressure, although the shower fixtures are in need of replacement. The kitchenette is very handy for picking up some things at the market for quick in-room meals, but I did have to ask for a kettle to make tea. The reception scrounged around and found something I could use. The breakfasts have enough choice for everyone and are well serviced. The kitchen staff are well organized.
One big annoyance: if you need the Internet for business, go elsewhere. The hotel has free wifi, but the minute you get into your room it drops to maybe one bar and then cuts out constantly. I am writing this from the diningroom, and have had to send files and emails and skype from the stairwell. I find this quite perplexing considering the very strong signal I get in my room from the hotel next door. I have considered asking them for their password.
Also, there is smoking permitted in the lounge, and it wafts up the stairs which is pretty unpleasant when you leave your room.
The staff in general seem nice and helpful, although when I told them about the wireless problem they told me that there was nothing they could do until Monday.
Still, for the location, price, and comfortable room, a great deal and I recommend it!

Dear Valued Traveller,
thank you very much for posting your review about the recent experience you had in our Hotel Residence Mala Strana.
It delighted me to read that you appreciated the hotel location and comfort - it is the ideal place where to stay very close to the centre but in a quiet street.
I understand the wi fi signal was kind of unstable and I really apology for it, I have already addressed it to our IT department and an extra check on the connectivity will be handled soon. Thank you for your comments, we will do as much as we can to make improvements on it.
I look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distance future.

What a fantastic hotel, rooms were clean spacious and quiet! Our particular room had a kitchen area with table and chairs, small lounge area, twin bedroom and bathroom. Each room was spacious and it was nice not to be cramped into a bedroom and small ensuit for our stay. Breakfast was plain but good and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Hotel only 2 mins from smaller local bars and restaurants and about 15 to 20min stroll from old town square which meant it was peaceful on a night withough costing anything with taxis, buses or trams!!
Would definitely stay again in the future!!!

The greeting was friendly and the staff very helpful. All the information we needed was given to us without needing to ask in a polite and friendly manner. We felt instantly at ease. The hotel was clean and tidy and the rooms were very comfortable. Clean bedding and comfortable beds the main requirement and they were exactly that !! Bathrooms were excellent an cleaned every day and clean towels daily as well. Breakfasts were very good . There was a wide range of various foods to suit every appetite and as much as you could eat. Also friendly staff. Overall a great four night stay , wished it could have been longer. Thanks to all the staff !!

Hotel Residence Mala Strana was a great place to stay - within easy walk of the old town, and quite close to the tram which went to the castle area. The room was spacious and the bathroom was good. We had self-contained facilities but didn't use them much. The breakfast provided was quite generous and the staff were helpful.
