“Great place to stay!”
Reviewed September 28, 2011

The rooms are more like apartments, at least the one I had! Very clean, especially the bathrooms. Only complaint, if you have more than 1 person in your room, the beds are setup lengthwise, so you're sleeping either head-to-head or foot-to-foot. My brother-in-law and his girlfriend had to switch their room because of this, but it was only a minor issue.

Great breakfast buffet and quiet at night, but I was in the in the inside courtyard section of the hotel, so that might have made a difference.

Great place to stay!

Room Tip: If you have more than one person in your party, make sure to ask how the beds are arranged and if th...

Just returned from three nights in Prague and we were very pleased with the general quality of this B&B. Although the room was a little on the small side we were more than happy with it due to the high standard of cleanliness and the hotel's proximity to all the main sights and transport links.

From the airport we caught the 119 bus and then the number 20 tram to Ujezd which is about 20m (if that) from the Hotel U Krize. Transport links are extremely handy but if you are a light sleeper the trams can be a bit loud at night, but this would be the case in any hotel in the centre of Prague!

The hotel is just to the West of the river and so is within walking distance from the castle and other sights of the Old Town. Just across the river (a five/ten minute walk) is the National Theatre - where we managed to see the ballet for 110 crowns (around £4.50!)

Breakfast is a simple buffet - breads, cold meats, yoghurts, fruits, cheese, cereals, toasts, hot drinks and juices as well as sausages and scrambled eggs upon request. Couldn't fault this - great value for money.

We arrived at about 1am and the receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly. We were happy with the service we received throughout our stay - the staff were all very welcoming and advised us upon which local bars and restaurants to try out.

The room was a bit stuffy at night and unfortunately the wooden staircase was quite loud in an evening as a few guests returned noisly at around 3am one night - but the hotel can't really help this!

Perfect for a short break - cheap, friendly, clean and accessible. Top tip for sightseeing in Prague - St Nicholas' Church - do not miss it! Extremely reasonable entrance fee and absolutely stunning interior.

Room Tip: For a quieter room specify that you would like a room at the back of the hotel.

U Krize in Mala Stranske section of Prague is in the center of everything. The hotel has large clean rooms with spotless bathrooms. It is very European feeling with decor and furniture carefully assembled. The management all speak several languages, everyone speaks English quite well. They know where every tourist sight, also know many of the lesser known spots like in nearby Kampa. Internet is available with a computer always booted. The night clerk helped me catch an 8 am flight, showing me the tram stop just down the street. I saved 600 krounens! This isn't a hostel, it's a comfortable mid priced place with a good restaurant. Breakfast is superb with scrambled eggs and sausages plus all the meusli and cheeses you could eat. Yes, I'll be staying there again because it's easy to get to with several tram lines stopping in front of the door and the metro station just a few blocks away.

We have spent a weekend in Prague to see this marvelous city on the way back from our vacations in Tuscany. By selecting this hotel we have made good choice. U Krize is located just five minutes walk from most Prague'a attractions and the price for two nights is really very attractive (two level appartment for four people). It's clean, there is underground parking (with lift for cars to get there), good breakfast is included.

Bars and restaurants close by. Tram stop outside hotel. Fantastic and when we first arrived we thought a lovely little old hotel with character.
If they would only do a few simple things it would be great. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable and we both ended up with bad backs.
The curtains were pointless they were so thin.
The breakfast was very average, if only they bought slightly more quality food it would be OK but after a few days boring.
Towels had definitely seen better days. Normally i would ask for them not to be changed everyday but this time you couldn't
They were very helpful on the reception desk.
I think it just needs a bit loving care and it would be great

Room Tip: Although we were on the main road it was quiet because of the double windows

Quaint, little hotel in a great location to see all parts of Prague. Service at front desk: not overly friendly (typical of Prague, I discovered), but helpful. Nice to have a/c. Quiet room facing the courtyard. Some problems, though. Check-in: first room we were given already had someone in it (luggage in the room, fortunately no one was there); 2nd room had not been clean yet (bed unmade, etc.), 3rd try - OK. Room: bathroom floor not swept; curtains only flimsy cotton ones that were too small for the windows.
