Let me start with the unacceptable practices...

We went for a drink in the fancy hotel bar "cloud 9". Wonderful place. Though, when you get the bill, it says "SERVICE CHARGE NOT INCLUDED". Within the European Union, this is very unusual and this is the first time I visit a hotel in the EU where this is the case. If I remember well, it is a clear european guideline or law to announce prices to consumer "all in". Is this unusual, irritating Hilton practice legal ?

The second unacceptable practice is called Taxis. Hilton build its own monopoly what taxis are concerned. Public taxis are not allowed ! You have to take the expensive Hotel limousine. In a city where the taxis are among the most reliable in the world, this is very unusual. Public taxis can drop you there, though they are not allowed to queue or to pick up guests. Noting, that Hilton build its own little taxi monopoly maffia here, I wonder if this unusual, irritating Hilton practice is legal...

Otherwise : great hotel, great service, great rooms. Only compliments ! Though, hilton : get your house in order. Czech republic is part of the European Union and also you as a company need to comply with it !

Dear Madam/Sir,

Thank you for taking your time to write about your experience at the Hilton Prague.

I appreciate you compliments about the hotel, our services and also the rooms.

Thank you for bringing up the matter regarding "service charge". Please be informed that it is, as per the country law, legal to have the information on the bill. And I am sorry you feel it is irritating, however it is in line with all other hotels and restaurants in Prague.

Regarding the Hilton limousines, I would like to inform you that we recommend Absorb limousines, our hotel taxi provider, because they offer: comfortable cars Skoda Octavia, English speaking drivers, fixed prices, possibility to pay with CC (except American CC) or possibility to arrange the driver for the return journey/call hotel to send the car. However, in case guests ask for taxis from different companies we are more than happy to arrange it for them.

I would like, once again, to thank you for your valuable patronage and look forward to welcome you back at the Hilton Prague on your next trip to Czech Republic.

Yours,

Marketa Nedvedova, Duty Manager

Although it is a very large hotel the staff was friendly and attentive throughout. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is first class with a wide range of quality choices. Both restaurants are recommendable and there is a spacious smoking area that does not affect anyone due the huge atrium lobby. Although not in the very center of the city it is only a few minutes walk away. Unfortunately, some city planners decided to plaster the whole center with cobble stones that makes city walks rather uncomfortable.
The fitness center is spacious, well equipped and seldom crowded.
We arrived by car and found the parking fees for hotel guests rather high.

Stayed at this Hotel for three nights. Very comfortable, rooms lovely. The drink and food were alittle expensive. It is a good location though you have to walk a little to get into the old town, but we found this great as when we ate out the portions were so large we needed a walk back before we settled down for the night. The staff were exceedingly helpful and had many excellent ideas on where we could eat and they were excellent.
Would recommend this Hotel as it is a perfect base for site seeing far away from old town to miss any rowdiness.

We got to the hotel, and what happened next was rather strange. The clerk at the check-in counter took us on a tour of the facility to show us the "upgraded suites". He told us it was would be 190 euros for the room. It was a larger room. The nickel and diming had officially begun.
Want to check your email? Via wired or wifi? Either way they want to charge 35euros for 24 hours of internet access. Are you serious? So I opted to go to the business center and leave my wife with our kids.
My family and I go to check-out and we get hit with a $1000 dollar bill. For 2 nights. My math is off but 190euros X 2 nights is nowhere near $1000USD. Turns out the upcharge from the regular rate was 190 euros. Nice.
Now the cherry on top. We go to leave the parking garage for the first time and BAM $75USD to park for less than 48 hours.
We went back up to the clerk, he told us that he gets discounted stays at Hilton and that he usually ends up paying more for parking than he does for the room.
This hopefully will be my last stay at a Hilton Hotel.

We stayed here again for our second visit to Prague. We were upgraded to the Executive floor as my husband is a gold card member. The room was spacious and quiet. The service in the executive lounge once again excellent. The lady who booked us in was most pleasant and helpful and spoke to us each time we saw her when passing through. The staff were all helpful and provided a first class service. The breakfast were lovely. The hotel is situated a bit of a walk from the centre but is handy for public transport. We were once again charmed by the beauty of Prague. Thank you Hilton staff, we hope to return again..

the Prague Hilton is a great hotel, what you would expect from an American Hilton. Very clean, modern, functional and nice. The rooms were huge and very comfortable. We got a great rate on the hotel of $100/night so the price was right for such a nice hotel. The only drawback is that it is a 10 minute walk to the city center, but for the price I think it was worth it as Prague is not a huge city to begin with. The Sky Bar at the top of the hotel offers a great view of the city at night.
