“Hotel Experience shattered by Locked Mini-Bar Fridge!”
Reviewed September 23, 2011

In all the Hotels We have stayed at, this one was the first in which we were made to feel like thieves! We do not normally utilise the mini-bar facilities, but, because we require the fridge to keep medication and milk, we use the in room fridge! Not in this place you don't! Three calls to reception to have the lock removed - no action! Finally, face to face we were told that we had to pay a "deposit" on the entire contents of the bar, and this was a Daily Thing!
It is not the value that was taken from our account that hurt, just the way we were made to feel as though we were not to be trusted! Our otherwise great impression of the Hotel was badly scarred!

we stayed here after our Avalon Cruise (wonderful!). We usually opt out of the large chain hotels when traveling, but were with 3 other couples and this worked best for all of us. This hotel seems to cater to business groups and tour and it is a huge hotel. The rooms are spacious and the bed very confortable, but internet charges were prohibitative. Don't even touch anything in the room bar as everything is on a computer system, so if you move an item to make room for something you have brought (wine, cheese, etc) it will trigger a charge! The elevators are all in one location making many of the rooms a long walk away. Breakfast buffet was excellent with many choices and good service. We did not like being this far from most sights and because one of our group is disabled, it was difficult and a long walk to anything we wanted to see. Don't open the window as it will shut off the air conditioning! Next visit would choose something closer to town and with some charm.

Room Tip: some rooms are quite far from the elevator.

Had a nice stay in the Hilton. Would have been nice to be closer to Old Town instead of walking at least 1/2 mile. This is a business hotel with some of the rooms overlooking the atrium lobby. We had a good size room with a view to the outside. Breakfast was very good, with eggs to order and lots of variety. Did not eat in any of the hotel restaurants or use the pool or gym. Since this is a business hotel, I would think they would have free wi-fi in the lobby at least. Cheap!!!!

We stayed at the Hilton Prague as part of an Avalon Waterways river cruise. The hotel is a large relatively new facility that appears to cater to business groups. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The Hilton is between 15 and 20 minutes of walking from the Old Quarter in Prague. We didn't feel comforatable walking that far after dark. Breakfast was good and service was friendly and efficient. It would have been nice not to pay extra for minimal internet access. The restaurants at the hotel were expensive. There are however many good quality reasonably priced restaurants in the area. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

This was my second stay at "the big Hilton" in Prague. Both times I have been impressed by this hotel. The staff was friendly and the room was nice. Among things that contribute to the score I would like to mention the 24/7 open restaurant, Cloud9 skybar, the Hilton taxi service and how clean this hotel is. I hope the people working during nights to keep the hotel at perfect shape receive the credit they deserve!

Internet was not free, but it is my understanding that this will change in the near future, so I will not let this drag the score down. 600 crowns for 24 hours of internet is too expensive in 2011. It should be free.

All in all: Great hotel.

My husband and I were at this hotel for a conference of 1,000 people in September. I am absolutely amazed at how well organised this hotel is for this number of people. The food was well above par, service was excellent and the chamber maids really pay attention to detail when servicing the rooms. At our lunches and dinners, the catering was on time and produced excellent food.

I agree with one of the other reviewers that Wi-Fi is far too expensive (AUD$35), however it looks like they will make it free in the lobby areas next year. There is a room service charge of around AUD$9 for each order.

Location is good. It's a very easy 10 minute walk to the old town. There are 2 supermarkets a few steps away and the metro is 2 minutes away. Overall we've had a very good experience and this hotel is extremely well organised and has all the appropriate rooms and facilities for large conferences.

My wife and I stayed here for a week between two Viking River Cruises. It is quite well located for seeing the city. We walked to many sites and there is a metro station nearby. As part of the room cost, we had breakfast here every morning, which was excellent. Our only other meal was a late dinner in the bistro on the day of our arrival, which was OK but over-priced. There are many small places to have lunch or dinner near the hotel which are reasonably priced. The hotel decor is very modern, which might not appeal to some, but it was nice to return to after a day of sight seeing. The room was very nice and the temperature controls worked well.

Room Tip: The higher the better.
